Shelby Cobra - Worth Buying?

I've just driven 787km in the Cobra winning all the American race sin the American race area as well as the Shelby Cup.

The car sounds fantastic (Could be better, try a run at the test track and you start from th epit lane with some sort of elevated camera position and the engine note is so sweet it is like Ford made some 427 cubic inch honey Bee. Shame you return to a muted incar sound when you take over the car.)

The All American Championship on R2 tyres against the GTR-1 from Atlanta and the Viper GTS-R.

Costs too much? Maybe but you can only drive one car at a time, and this is a car you will remember.

When you think you are fed up with it. slap on some N2 (Luxury/Comfort) road tyres and take it to Western Germany for a spin... So much power on crossply tyres...

When you buy a Cobra you get the Smile when you drive for free.

Anyone know why the Shelby Daytona Coupe was left out of GT4? I know it was in GT2 or GT3, but I don't remember which. I really liked that car. It handled nicely and was a fun all-around race car. I figured since it was licensed in an earlier game, PD could have managed to keep in later games. I know there are lots of new cars, but some older classics should really be keepers.

Anyway, I'd go for the Shelby Series One over the Shelby Cobra.

Series 1

  1. It's Cheaper
  2. It Dose'nt Redline Max Out At A Low Speed
  3. It Can Beat The Cobra On Most Courses

Cobra

  1. Lighter
  2. Looks Better In My Opinion
  3. More Of A Classic

the 180SX HKS dragster

And the Espace F1.

I also would'nt mind those cars in a future Gran Turismo Game . . .

No, you can do the Shelby Cup in a Series 1 as well. It's not as cool but it is much easier to control, and it's cheaper.

Doing the Shelby Cobra Cup in a Series 1 stock with just an oil change and Spots Soft tires can net you some challenging 175 point races. But I'm sure someone more skilled than myself can do it on Sports Mediums (200 points each).

you should buy it........its an icon. yes, many cars have betters stats, better this better that......but, nothing owns like a 427 in a Shelby Cobra....

Yep it's a classic and I bought it. It's great, even just to look at. I did a lot of races and now I have 11.5M left in the bank. I'm thinking of getting an AC to go with the Shelby, but not sure of what colour yet. That red one with the white stripes looks nice, but so does the black one. :odd:

The Shelby Cobra is one of the most enjoyable (and challenging) cars in the game to drive stock on N2s, and no driving aids. It's lighter than the AC, and has lower top-end speed (stock; don't know about when tuned). Overall, it's definitely worth purchasing.

And the Espace F1.
I'd almost forgotten about that vehicle. That was the minivan with the F1 engine, right.
The Renault Espace F1. I liked it a lot and won a fair amount of races with it. Definitely was a keeper. Toss the comedian's Tank Car and bring that Espace F1 back.

I hope I don't get chewed out by being off topic in this thread.

Anyway, I used the Shelby Series One for 200 A-spec points in the Cobra race. Didn't even consider using the Cobra.

lets put it this way, you have a light body, put a heavy a@# big block 427 ubic inch windsor, and you have a piece of genious. its well worth it and will pay for itself in time! you should also get the series 1 super charged.

That race sounds interesting. Any idea if it's been uploaded anywhere?

I don't know. I only got into watching those Sunday Cup type races since I got into GT4. So I haven't even found if there's a website for it, where videos may be downloaded. I will look into it. I haven't been playing GT4 lately, so my interest in all types racing has waned a bit.

I only watch F1 and WRC with any regularity.

Umm, the words Windsor and big block are like military and intelligence, they simply don't go together.

Come in from a GT4 point of view I think it's a must have for all. But I was cheep and got the UK one not the US.
