Totally agree.

I wouldn't dream of calling someone a moron on this forum.

I don't have a lot of cash. I'm just VERY careful with it.

Would you believe it, I got the red ring of death on the Xbox AGAIN yesterday.....just as I was about to load up my new Forza4. :(

I've already done the 'replace the heatsink pads with coins' trick, and got another couple of weeks out of it, but now it looks like I'm going to have to do a bit more fiddling with other components and re-flow the mother board, since I've got some spare time now.

If that doesn't work, it's down to the January sales. :(

Can't justify getting a PS3, as everything else we've got, including dozens of games is for Xbox. Maybe later in 2012.

Merry Xmas and Happy New Year to everyone.

Graham, good luck with the XBOX.

And for the record, I have six sons, and three PS3's in the house.
None of them are mine, but I am allowed play time.

I just can't see purchasing a wheel, as the "Good Wheel" for GT3, not only was expensive, but not compatible with GT4.
It was at that point that I decided, that no matter how much better the gameplay was, I was sticking to the DS2 or DS3.
Add to that I had a wheel at one time that I recieved as a gift.
I had to be adjusted and calibrated often.
I decided that I'd rather play than spend time calibrating the wheel.
Especially as it seemed to need calibrating all the time.

Ah, fair enough.

I've only had the microsoft wireless wheel, which despite its appallingly cheap and nasty build quality has never needed any re-calibrating in the 3 years I've owned it.

I could never consider playing a car racing game without a steering wheel though. My pride in my driving skills (or otherwise) wouldn't permit it for more than a few minutes.

Well I just bought Shift 1 on an impulse buy. It was $10 used online and I thought for $10 why not? I've never played a Shift game and haven't played Need for Speed in forever so should be fun. If I like this one I may just buy the second as it seems to be favored. I have so many games I really didn't need this one but I guess that's what boxing day does to you....

Both, mate.

They both have their flaws and positives also. Play 'em both for the reason most of us play them, the variety of cars 👍

First one got here today and I played it for a bit. Fantastic game that is a ton of fun. I'm throughly enjoying it and I'm only done most of tier 1 at this point. Will definitely get the 2nd not too long from now.

I was playing shift 1 before GT5 came out and loved it, always liked the need for speed series once all the modding was brought in. Only played GT5 since its release but a couple weeks ago I got shift 2 for $40 so I gave it a go and can't say I'm impressed. The steering on it is twitchy as hell and I can hardly keep the car in a straight line. I don't know if that's cos I'm used to GT5 or what but I didn't like it so I haven't played it again. I might try shift 1 and see if the steering is the the same or better

With Shift 2 Unleashed, you NEED to tune your cars to get the best out of them. The only drawback is you can't tune the "loaner" cars... the cars you use for the "invitationals" (before you win them) or the "Eliminator" events for examples. If you own the car, you can and should use set-ups for tuning. There is an amazing tuning thread for Shift2U here on GTP if you didn't already know... :)

Have a good one

The steering should be really good on shift 1 and 2.

If it's not, the controls are not set up properly.

Even without tuning the cars, the steering should be very good, and the least of your problems.

i've owned both shifts. Both are good. Shifts 2 handling is a bit rubbish. too sensitive for my liking although you can change the sensitivity in settings. But there is a problem with both shift games. If you quit the game during a race or you get a powercut during a race. It could corrupt your file. It did this to me with Shift 2 although the problem was also there with shift 1. What happens is you'll have all your cars, cash and remain the same level. My case i was level 20. So every race should be open. But after the corruption all i can drive is a seat leon. I've tried to see if i can unlock the races again. But nope. I bought the DLC. This doesn't work either. EA won't patch it because there useless. so now i'm stuck with a game i'd spent alot of time mastering corners etc with and now i can't do anything. All i'm saying is BACK-UP ANY SHIFT often.

Ohhh man it's such a bull.... ;) sadly steering at first contact with Shift 2 is a big issue even with 2nd patch. So first thing you do after installing Shift 2 is go to single race and check any car, how do you feel and then fiddle with steering, brakes, throttle, dead zone, steering degree.

Once you finish, game reward's you big time

Yeah I'm looking forward to playing through these couple games. I know I can get shift 2 new for $30 and saw it online new for $20 yesterday so I'll pick that up when I'm done with this.

Pretty happy with it so far, more racing tonight :) The cockpit view is probably the best of any game I've played so far, fantastic effects.

I played Shift one when it first came out and I hated it, I borrowed Shift 2 the other day and it's a huge improvement over the first game, I use a G27 and although it takes some practice to get used to it, it felt pretty good with Shift 2. That being said, it doesn't hold a candle to GT or Forza as far as physics go, but the immersion, car and track selection, and stuff like that makes it great. For $30 you can't go wrong, I plan on picking up my own copy soon..

I've already bought the game, played it a handful of times and was disappointed. I believe this thread has now come to the end of it's use.

Locked.
