Short Maya Animation

For one of my modules at university i had to create a 20 second animation of a lamp model that we were provided. We could get the lamp to do anything we wanted as long as it was interesting (although not unnecessarily complex) and displayed human-like qualities (aka. anthropomorphication).

This project was based on Pixar's ground-breaking 1986 animation Luxo jr which shows 2 lamps interacting with one another and playing with a ball.

All we were given was the lamp model: All other modelling, animation and sound has been created/modified and added by me. The modelling, lighting and rendering were all done with Maya; all audio clips were edited in Wavelab; and everything was pieced together in the surprisingly capable Windows Movie Maker.

This is my first 3D animation and i've noticed a distinct lack of people posting 3D stuff here so thought it'd be a nice break if i post it up. Hope you like it.

That was good, I did some animating back in the day (I was on a US FIRST Robotics team), but I mostly stuck to modeling.

Anyways I thought it was good, simple, but then again sometimes that is the best thing.

i know i'm an 18-year reply late and the link is dead, but do you happen to know who made these maya rigs? and if so, do you have a file for them so that i can make them more usable in blender? thanks.
