As threatened previously, attached are some shots around Sydney I've taken over the last couple of days. Enjoy!

This first one is the view of the Sydney skyline from my place.

Nothing is showing up, vat_man. :( What kind of digital camera did you get?

Sorry - thought I'd cancelled it (smartarses!).

The shots are bigger than the size limit - how do I make them smaller?

Open them in Microsoft Paint and go to the menu bar IMAGE then stretch/skew and change the percentage of the strech horizontal and vertical. That's the way I will eventually post my MRS times on the site directly :)

And that will fix the file size (in terms of bytes), right?

Yes it will, I recommend 50% horizontal and vertical you should play around with the percentages but it will work I nearly had some of my pics on the site but my 56k was acting up and none were post but the thread was so i had pako remove it until i can get a faster connection than 28.8 which is what my 56k has been connecting at for the last 2 weeks

First things first, JPEG is the best compression filetype for posting images to the web. I assume your camera saves as .jpg defaulty. Second, I'd bet it makes them about 1600 pixels by 1200 pixels. That needs to be turned into something like 400 x 300 for them to fit on this website. If you've got some nice image software, it's easy to do this. If not, then open them in MS Paint (somewhere in your Start Menu) and do the stretch / scew like ZeroCool pointed out.

You can just email them to me

And I'll make them all happy.

Thanks for the offer, mate - but I gotta learn how to do this, so I'll do it myself.

Cheers

;)

Okay, this is the city skyline from my place...

Okay, this is where I usually go bodyboarding - Maroubra.

If you come to Sydney, and you like surfing or bodyboarding, go to Maroubra rather than Bondi - more consistent surf, and you don't have backpackers out there on anything that floats....

Oh yeah - haven't quite got the hang of panoramas yet, so there's some weird joins, and yes, that is the same woman in white appearing twice...

Okay, this is approaching the city from my direction (ie. west) on the OTHER big bridge approaching the city, the Anzac Bridge. Anyone from Australia would know this bridge from countless car adverts.

One for Subaru fans - note the WRX off to the right...

For those of you feeling the cold, you should note this is in degrees celsius...

Very nice, vat. :)

<---stares longingly at the blue skies and curiously snow-free ground. Imagines basking in 26 degree Celsius temperatures...

Great shots, vat_man! I really like the looks of Sydney...clean, modern, and just plain cool.

Clean!? You're just lucky I didn't have the camera when the bushfires were on!!

We're pretty lucky, but it can get pretty murky when there's no wind - the city's in a big basin, surrounded by hills, so you can get build ups - also, don't swim at the city beaches if it's rained overnight (all the dog turds get washed down the storm water drains, into 'guess where')

ah... about 3 or 4 months until it's 26°C out here... can't wait!!! I want to go dragging!

Er - I assume you mean drag racing - either that or a particularly short dress...
:yuck:

yes i was... mis-interpreted myself! I really want to visit Australia!! Australia and Japan are 2 places i wanna go before i die or i'm too old to move on my own!

Just to give you some scale, the beach is about 1 km long - it faces due east, which is a bastard when you go early - as I usually do, to avoid crowds - because to look out for waves you need to look pretty much into the sun - plus the sun reflected off the water. Consistent surf though.

I don't see any boats at all. Surely people sail through there. I know I would be! Jump on a little two man day-sailer and shoot along the beach. That would be a blast.
