My computer is a 2008 Mac (cringe, I know), and my wheel is the T300RS. I'm on the fence on whether to get the game. I want it for the realism and racing, but don't want it because of the extreme cost and the fact that the school year is right around the corner. What do you guys think? And if I were to purchase a subscription, how many tracks would I need to get to compete in a full season?

How many tracks would depend on the series you wanted to run. And also on how many free tracks were included in the season's schedule.

You can do a full season of the rookie series 'Mazda Cup' (MX-5) using free content.

They're doing 3 months for $9 at the moment. What have you got to lose?

I could load the game on a 2009 macbook (Core 2 Duo) and play it in a low resolution. The issue come from the T300RS, because it has no drivers for OSX and You will have to play in a Win7/10 bootcamp partition.

Regarding iRacing, a season are 12 weeks long (only count the best 8) and it takes 3 months. With the basic content, you can race first in the Mazda Cup and then in the Production Car Challenge, with the MX-5 or the Pontiac Solstice (because it is a multiclass competition). All with the basic content without buying anything. Besides Oval Racing is included in the basic pack too.

I started with a similar offer (3 months $ 9 or something) some months ago, and actually I do not play any other racing game (sorry AC, and I sold Project CARS). The best money spent on Racing Sim and the best online racing experience by far.

You can do the 3 month sub and if you like it, there is usually a 50% off sale for black Friday. ($50/yr). Content is best purchased in groups of 6 or 3 for 20% and 10% discounts respectively.

I always go for the year long at $49 Black Friday deal. I'm going on 5 years at iRacing and by year 3 I was a 100% content owner. Every month I did just as Aaron suggested, purchase in bulk for the big savings. Now as a 100% content owner I get a discount on everything I purchase, one item at a time.
