Should PD change the races.

Does anybody think that PD should change the race system in GT5 to a more realistic race system with flags, safety car and so on or to keep to the much simpler x number laps x number of cars, first one across wins. I'm not sure on this one, wondered what you guys think. :)

I'v been gently harping on at least three modes for GT5 for a few years now: Season (and Career), GT, and Arcade Modes. This would give everyone two "pick up n play" modes, as well as one or two sim modes for the guys who wanted a taste of GTR in Gran Turismo. With WRC and NASCAR races licensed for GT5, we may well see an entire sim racing section as I've envisioned it, with racing calendars, rules, penalty flags, damage and everything. Plus night racing and weather? Wouldn't that be sweet.

With 16 cars on the grid I think the races with the race spec vehicles are simply gonna be epic. And they are some real good ideas (Y)

They might very well have it. At least for NASCAR races. NASCAR's dont start on grids and I think it's pretty essential to keep the races as real as possible if they managed to wrestle the title's rights away from EA (Though there will only be 16 cars on the track?)

We'll see what happens. If they include Pace Cars then they might very well have them available to win/buy. There are alot of really cool pace cars after all.

I like what you mean but it would be nice that GT and season modes would be linked. I mean that you unlock season mode (WRC, NASCAR) in GT mode by doing races and then you buy a race car (WRC, NASCAR) with the money you've earned in GT mode. But anyway I want to see the classic GT mode, like in GT4: Lots of races, some tournaments, endurances, brand races, driving missions and licenses without a calendar and being free to do the races or licences that you do whenever you want. That's what makes GT so unique to me.

i hope races are kept how they are in previous GT's simply because its not too hardcore but it is very enjoyable at the same time. Dont get me wrong i wouldnt mind seeing the saftey car, flags and stuff, but i just dont see it as being a priority ahead of livery editiors, damage and sound etc

I agree 100%.

Some of you fail to realise the sim market has no world wide appeal. It's only for those 5% hardcore gamers, which isn't very much.

GT is a successful franchise because it appeals to the casual racing fan AND the hardcore.

I seriously don't want to see them turning GT5 into rFactor or some other crazy PC sim. I want to have some fun when playing a video game.

And what could possibly be more fun than the real thing?

Anyway, all that is needed is an option. I've heard people saying how wonderful would it be to have a career mode in GT and I completely agree. We already have the arcade and simulation. Give us a career mode where it feels like you're a professional driver and both audiences will be pleased.

With the GT5 Prologue AI and penilty sysem the way they are now I dont think the races should be changed unless the AI has major upgrades because the AI will ram without thinkig , The ai has a set racing line and if they do what you want from PD they will make it over sensative just like the penilty system thats in prologue. Also what if an AI car rams you and you get black flagged for it instead of the AI car just like the penilty system in Prologue. If they do change the races I hope they do it right.

👍 Thats what Gran Turismo is. You don't have to replace crap cars with Iconic ones. We can have em all together

What makes you think they are replacing cars? Maybe they dont have the licence to add certain cars anymore. Your just assuming the are replacing some cars with others without knowing the full story.

I want to see more unusual races.

Notice the unusual bit where they have to stop and hit the ebrake?

I remember i was racing there just before going to have the final exam for the (REAL) driving license.

My god that "Pod race" was absolutely epic, the colours of them light changed depending on your behaviour -just like the real concept-; indeed it was strange as well as the prius consumption race in GT4 concept.

I just hope we see more grid starts before a race. it seems to me that PD forgot all about them since gt4

i hope we get this too, racings alot to do with getting a good start, and i hope theres some sought of qualifying mechanism in place, either the traditional hot lap method or by looking at your online record as i believe Supercar challenge does.

I seem to be the only one, who doesn't mind the flying starts... Of course I would like to see some grid starts, but the current format allows (or rather - forces) you to overtake for a bit longer, than the straight before the first corner (and that's what happens when I start in GT2, currently playing it on the PSP) when you have a slightly more powerful cars. There are of course the too short races, and the sometimes annoying mission one-lappers, but luckily they're just a minority.

TBH I'm not demanding anything - I'd be ecstatic with pretty much everything Polyphony'll throw at us.

If they had all that, some sims would be out of business.:)
