Sennheiser CX300 II earphones
👎

To replace my CX299's... so far, not impressed at all. Firstly, they were more expensive than the CX299's. Secondly, I discovered that they have no volume control - unlike the CX299's. Thirdly, the sound is, IMO, nowhere near as good - tinny and hollow - ironic, given that the speaker itself appears to be made out of plastic instead of metal. Fourthly, and unforgivably, they are producing distortion where the old pair never did - and I'm not even close to pushing them to their limit (normal song/70% volume/standard EQ)...

All in all, I'm considering sending them back. I've already had to hack open the box to get into them, and I've used them for several hours - so I don't know where I would stand on taking them back to the store where I bought them (not that I have time to do that, given that I'm off on holiday tomorrow), but I'm very disappointed that my 'like for like' replacement for my old headphones appear to be quite considerably inferior. :(

Try to give them a day, have them blasting music all night (a wide variety). High end earphones especially tend to sound better or sometimes even 'pop in' after several hours of 'breaking in'.

It sounds as if they're defective to me. The CX300's usually get universal praise. :odd:

If you can get your money back from the store, why not order the CX400's, which i presume are CX300's with volume control. Amazon has them at the same price as the 300's.

That's what I thought, i've had my CX300 II's for a couple of years now and despite all the abuse they've had the sound is still fantastic. 👍

TomTom Start, doesn't come with as many features as the higher spec ones and only has a 3.5 inch screen, but does everything I need it to and I managed to get it for cheap.

This in medium:

And even though I bought it ages ago, weekend camping and admission to the 6 Hours Of Silverstone (Le Mans Series & ILMC) this weekend! :D

Speaking of earphones guys, I'm kind of thinking of replacing my long-loved Sony MDR-NC33s. I'm looking for something that sounds better than these, and so far I've been contemplating swapping brands (always been Sony earphones, really) so long as I get a hi-fi pair that isn't ridiculously expensive (i.e. not something like a Monster Turbine, unless it's actually really worthwhile).

Kind of thinking of getting Sony's newer MDR-EX600SLs though, I liked a demo pair, but the place was so noisy that I couldn't judge if it was the music sounding too harsh or the crowd interfering with it. My current pair sounds clear and has great treble but feels 'demure', should I say. I do like it that way.

Went on an absurd birthday spending spree!

Wanted to go with AUTOart for these but they're too expensive (for the time being):

^Good stuff, Get the Love is War DX ver.!

My BRS Original arrived and mother flipped out again.
I'm a pragmatist so I don't think I want to buy any more scale-figs... not with their price and the stuff I have on my buy-list :indiff:

I feel bad for having taken a photo with her skirt down.
