I'm a huge David Letterman fan. I've watched his shows from his first season at NBC all the way through the CBS years. Larry Bud Melman, Top 10 lists, Stupid Pet Tricks, Monkey Cam, I loved all of it. And the funny thing about it is my mom loved to watch him too until she passed away in 1993. She really loved Larry Bud Melman. I didn't get any merch from his first show or even the CBS show but now he's had a Youtube channel for the last few years. Now they have introduced a line of merch and I knew I had to get the classic navy blue Late Show logo t-shirt.

I bought this for myself at the weekend, however it is intended to be a birthday present from my parents...

... it looks great, but now I've realised there is also a #50 model, I am thinking that I might try and swap the #51 for the #50... since it is for my 50th birthday 😅

P.S. Apparently the yellow Kubica #83 is also available...!

Just think of it as a year early birthday present

What scale is this?

Our new Siamese Fighting Fish aka Betta fish.

The last one ate all the shrimp, rice fish and neon tetras, until one murderous rice fish killed her.

The murder fish was moved to an outside pond so that this guy can live alone.

The males are much more beautiful than the females but will kill anything confined with it.

I also stocked a tank in my classroom with a host of life and life support but don’t have a pic right now. I’ll get one on Friday.

Tell a lie, I did take a pic on the first day…

It’s still developing so there’s only a handful of fish and shrimp in here. The water is a bit cloudy due to bacteria bloom but that will clear in a few days. I’m 2 weeks into this build and hoping to introduce a few larger fish once the environment is stable. It’s a science project with my students that we learn about together.

I miss collecting physical Blurays... The movie companies decided that my country is not worth $ wise to produce physical editions... Go figure... :grumpy:
TBH it sucks when they do this to some countries. Australia got the cold shoulder from Disney regarding physical media. Thankfully they have some good boutique labels who put stuff out of a high quality.

Not sure if Portugal have any though. If you’re buying UHD most are region free as I regularly buy from other countries as they get some releases much earlier than others.

Not really... Once the companies stopped with physical, all the major retailers in PT removed the stock they had and ended the section in their respective shops... The few that get here are considered "imports" and are waaayyy expensive!!

I have always liked the band Chicago so had to buy their latest live album. The CD/Blu-ray set wasn’t cheap! Not many of the original members left of course. I did watch the Blu-ray (162 minutes apparently). I must have bought their first album in 1970!

A new water heater for the house

IMG_5522.jpeg

Done plenty of water heater replacements in the past, but being that my forever house I’m in is 75 years old, I decided to bid this job out because decades upon decades of “band aid” plumbing fixes that I anticipated, can wreck havoc on a DIY-capable plumber such as myself. 3 bids all came in at ~ $4K.

Nope. Think I’ll gut this one out myself.

…had I known that a “6 hour job” was going to turn into 3 days of hell, I would have flipped a coin and be satisfied with which way my fate would be determined either way. I mean, all in this DIY job cost me about $1500. But I’m not sure it was worth the migraine. I’m going to have plumbing-related PTSD for a while after this one 😂

Significant purchase #2:

You know you’re getting old when you’re ecstatic upon finding out that your local nursery carries flats of St. Augustine grass. My backyard lawn has seen much better days, and hopefully $36 of plugs, a sack of soil, and an hour of labor will save me a lot of $$$ in paying someone to rip out my POS Marathon II, and plant St Aug in its place

Edit:

Went down and bought 2 more flats. Might need more. Still cheaper by a few K, at least
