Show off your sim racing rig here!

I recently switched to a Simucube ActivePedal and changed my seat for a Sim-Lab Speed1 XXL. I am using the AP as my brake and it is as good as everyone says it is. The ABS effect is what really does it for me. It feels very realistic and much like a real car when ABS kicks in. But also just being able to change everything directly from the software is extremely welcomed. With the seat, it has helped me with my braking thanks to the base of the seat being more reclined compared to my last one. I have more control with the brake as before I was always resting my heel on the heel-plate during braking. Less strain on my ankles now and can enjoy more hours of sim racing :)

Not quite finished but at the stage where I can test my setup.

IMG_7595.jpeg

The rig is a Racing Cockpits RCP Pro with the NRG bucket seat.

The cockpit is absolutely fantastic, built like a tank, and absolutely no flex and fully adjustable. I give it a Spinal Tap worthy 11/10.

The seat, not so impressed with. It’s comfy but has manufacturing issues. The bottom “pops” on weight change and the mounting holes are not aligned so it has a built in couple degrees lean to the right. 5/10.

I also got the keyboard and mouse tray and a cup holder. Also mounted to the rig is a power strip with 120V and USB power for peripherals and I got a USB switching hub that allows me to switch the wheel, keyboard and mouse between the PS5 and PC.

The rig will allow me to expand to the 8NM power supply, shifter, handbrake and new wheel I expect to get for Xmas 😁

Now I’m on the look out for a PS5 controller mount for 80/20 and a phone holder. Any ideas?

Have you perused Etsy? I seem to be able to find 3d printed accessories for almost whatever I may need there.

Edit-5 seconds later with Google - https://www.etsy.com/ca/listing/1246397518/ps5-controller-holder-for-sim-racing

For my controller, I just did heavy duty Velcro for the rig and controller..works really good.

For my phone, I use a case that already has a magnet in it. And on the rig side, I just glued a magnet to that as well. In a pinch, I would have just got a separate case for my phone when sim racing, and done the Velcro hack again

I decided to remove the clutch pedal from my new Fanatec V2 pedals today, as I couldn't get comfortable with the brake in the middle, and I never use a clutch anyway.

Bit of a struggle getting it all apart, and had to drill extra holes in the rig to bolt the pedals down. Then, after putting it all back together, I discovered I'd forgotten to put the plugs back in under the pedals 🫣😭

Anyhoo, all done, and feels great now.

Found that one on Amazon for less than $275 and decided to go for it. Reviews seemed to be on the positive side with some people complaining about what sounded like minor details to me so I wasn't expecting much. Purchased last Thursday and arrived the next day. I put it all together over the weekend and first impressions so far, I quite like it. I have been using an OpenWheeler kit from 12 years ago so this is a definite step up especially considering I'm going to upgrade to a DD soon which my previous kit would not be able to handle without an add-on that would cost just as much as this set up. I decided to keep the seat from the OpenWheeler kit and just move it over to the new one. It feels solid with the G29, no flex, no weird noise and I can't wait to get a DD on it to see how it fares.

Only downside so far is the missus is not really sold on it because the whole thing looks too big for the space that we have now😅. I could somewhat collapse the OpenWheeler kit when I wasn't using it but I can't do any of that with this one so I'm probably going to put some casters on it so I can easily move it around and out of way when not in use.

I noticed GT Omega had a summer sale on so treated myself to an Inertia seat! I now feel very securely held in place - and very very comfortable.(had recently been increasing brake force and FFB and felt I was moving around too much)

I've only done a few laps since putting it together and have taken a couple of tenths off my GT7 daily race times. I still need to fine tune the position a bit and also move the wheel to account for sitting lower.

Oh yes, I got another 5% off by using @EERIEISSSS 's discount code 😀👍

Here is my humble and very cheap rig !! Made myself from 40mm steel box so it's very strong. Seat rail is from a Nissan Qashqai and is adjustable for height as well as front to back. Seat is a Sparco Pro Evo from an ex racecar. I only have the Thrustmaster T248 and T3pa setup for now but I will upgrade when funds allow.
Costs:
Steel: 40 euro
Seat: Free
Rail: Free ( I'm a mechanic by trade, spare parts)
Monitor: 100 euro in a Xmas sale
PS5: I love my wife 🤣
PSVR 2: 300 Euro
Wheel and Pedal set: 170 euro ( cheap from a guy given stuff like this to test so it was virtually brand new)

Does the job so I'm happy for now 👍
Coffee dock in my play room so couldn't be happier

Hello everyone,

This is my transportable "rig".

My Frankenseat a.k.a Playseat Challenge with multiple mods. It all started after mounting the fanatec Gran Turismo DD Pro and upgrading the Pedals to the load cell Kit.

1000038397.jpg

Since I'm racing in the living room it was all combined in a way that ensures full foldability which was my main decision criteria for the Playseat Challenge.

1000038399.jpg

I'm racing mostly with PSVR2 and use 55" OLED TV only as emergency fallback.

Since it required quite some research I thought it might be worth sharing the used products with you.

Stronger connector

Pedalmount

Daytonaudio Minipuck holder

Daytonaudio Minipuck

Nobsound Mini amplifier 2x50 Watt

Windsim Kit

Nice Kit including mounts, Fan and Controller

He’s my rig, it’s been a major transformation over the last 25 years. Since GT Sport it’s been in the living room, to say this is wearing thin with her indoors is an understatement and it will be moved to the new gaming room before end of this year before I get stabbed in the middle of the night hopefully 😬😂😂

I like the portability of the GT Omega wheelstand (even got wheels underneath), but my Logitech Pro wheel is way too powerful. The whole wheelbase was moving around while holding the wheel with one hand during shifting.
So i heavily fortified it with aluminium. No more play at all!

I think I finally finished my rig, of course, these things are never trully finished because you always think of something new, but in general, this is everything that I ever wanted, since I started "serious" sim racing 3 years ago.

It took me good 3 years to complete this setup like it is now, started my journey with the G29, attached to a table, then went with some cheap Spawn cockpit, upgraded to the T300 RS, started modding... Then I bought myself the Playseat Trophy, and finally sailed into the Fanatec world, started with the CSL wheel and pedals, and then the story really unfolded :D

So, I proudly present to you my current sim rig setup with all the parts and accessories, used almost exclusively for GT7 (I fire up the occasional WRC/AC/ACC but 98% of the time it's GT7).

Main parts list:
  • TrakRacer TR120 cockpit with long shifter arm and Fanatec side mount
  • Extreme SimRacing XL bucket seat
  • Fanatec GT DD Pro 8Nm with QR2
  • Fanatec V3 pedals with custom throttle/clutch springs, brake performance kit and forged carbon plates from SimRaceMods
  • Fanatec McLaren GT3 v2 with QR2, 3D printed shifter mount and original Fanatec magnetic shifters
  • Fanatec BMW GT2 v2 with QR2
  • Fanatec ClubSport steering wheel 320 with CS Hub v2 and QR2
  • Fanatec SQ Shifter v1.5
  • Fanatec Handbrake
  • PS5
  • VR2
  • HyperX Cloud III Wireless headphones
  • TCL C805 50" TV, 120Hz, VRR, ALLM
Additional accessories:
  • 2 pcs of Dayton BST1 bass shakers, one mounted directly under the seat, other one under the pedals, with Nobsound 2x50W amp, running the gear shift, engine RPM, road vibrations, traction loss effects
  • Wind simulator with 2x Arctic P12 Max (3300rpm) and 3D printed Noctua designed airflow amplifiers, run via Arduino Uno in PWM mode

PC is "custom" made of course, running the Ryzen 5800X3D, 32GBs of RAM, Gigabyte B550 motherboard, RX6900XT, watercooling, 2x1TB SSDs, 750W gold PSU etc...

And now for the pics :)
