A few other teams have closed the huge gap in performance when compared to last year.

o_O Things were infinitely closer last year... Ferrari still had the technical edge but their tyres were failing them.

Formula 1 ?... Isn't that that thing were cars go round on a track, and then they play the German and Italian national anthems ?....

I recall an interview with David Coulthard where he was asked what songs he never wanted to hear again, his answer was "The German and Italian national anthems on a race weekend".

Way to oversimplify there champ.

👍 Well said.

Wasn't a bad race, pity there wasn't anywhere near the overtaking of last year's event, we even had a pace car back up the field like last time but then everyone spread back out again, Raikkonen's challenge faded once the Bridgestone's got up to temp and that was that. Montoya remains scathing of Williams at every chance he gets, Gene was unimpressive and may see Pizzonia replacing him sooner rather than later, Toyota were torrid, Trulli was lucky in his spectacular exit, Alonso just didn't seem to have the pace to get through traffic, Button failed to fire. On to Hockenheim.

 I'm not suprised.

Well Panis didn't fire either........ Didn't stop his extinguisher going off though. Just as he was coming up to Beckettes(SP)

Phenominal last few laps of Schumi's first stint and pitstop, to get him from 4th to 1st. Despite the help of the traffic ofcourse.

Becketts is the name of the turn there I believe. What was weird was Panis didn't seem to come to a stop until Stowe, unless I had a misleading angle on my television.

Raikkonen's race was traffic tastic, however if he had been in the lead waiting to stop when the pace car was deployed, he would have yielded in the same manner to take the free stop and Michael would have cooly resumed the lead, so little changed there.

Alonso spent his afternoon in understeer city, it was reminiscent of Spain, anyone else notice him cutting almost a metre off the turns leading to the infield trying to fight the car? It was epic. They really need to get that sorted.

It was good to see Kimi up there but he just was a tick behind Schumi. Schumi is just amazing.... every race if he can't jump out to the lead he stalks. Then when the other guy pits he is told to rip the fastest possible laps he can muster, and he does.

The last part of his post-race interview with Peter Windsor he spent a good couple of minutes talking about the team, and what a wonderful job they do... even the testing team, how everyone raises their game to out do a fellow team member and the high motivation level. Not every team is like that, one of the reasons is the team knows both drivers will reward their hard work with equally hard driving and controlled agression. It makes the team work doubly as hard and make sure they get it right.

I am glad Trulli is ok, that was a huge accident to which he thinks there was a suspension failure although he couldn't say for sure. What impressed me was the first thing he did when he came to a stop was give a thumbs up to the marshalls. There is nothing worse then a driver who wrecks hard but is fully conscious, awake and aware who doesn't signal you or even acknowledge you. Jarno deserves a pat on the back for that.

You know, I would have never thought of this until you mentioned it. But after you did, I realized how good of a thing that is for a driver to do. And it is definitely a good thing that Jarno is alright.

Am entertaining race to watch. Good on Kimi for a strong performance, but lets not kid ourselves. Ferrari beat him with a heavier car throughout the race, and if not for the SC, Schumi would have won by 20 - 30 secs. Nevertheless, encouraging signs.

Rubens was a bit disappointing. Thought he would do better, as Silverstone is one of the tracks he does best on.

Another solid performance by Sauber, and Webber did a good job in 8th too. Gene looked distinctly average, and Toyota seem to have hit a low again. Alonso also did well with his drive from the bacl of the grid 👍

Is it only me, or does Jensens head look massive in that car?

I think that was something to do with the helmet or a change seating position but he suddenly looked about 20cm higher in the car in Britain, I too was pretty surprised.

My dad noticed the thumb's up thing the first time we saw the footage, I didn't even see it, but slow-mo's made it pretty clear, it was a good thing, just to acknowledge he's not hurt, more drivers should react like that. Doesn't help his employment situation however.

Go Fisi! Great to see someone slightly competative with the Ferrari. Pitty the tires went bad when they got up to "optimal" temp.

Great race, I think.

Go Kimi, I´m sure he´ll win a race still during this season. Of course, he couldn´t really challenge Schumi, and got 25 secs as a gift when Jarno crashed. But the new car is definately better than the old one. Couldhard didn´t surprise me. Ferrari did great job once again.

Fisichella did amazing job. It´s not an easy job to get from the last place to 6th..

Go Jaguar, Webber got a point! They have been doing good for two races now. The last to races had not much retired drivers and still the Jag is around places 8-10th. I hope they can keep up the speed.

Williams was once again a bit slow. Montoya 5th and Gene 12th. In the start of the season a finnish sports magazine thought that Montoya is going to be the champ this year.. Not likely!

Bad weekend for Renault also. Trulli crashed, but luckily he´s fine, and Alonso didn´t get points.

Minardi did great job by respecting "John Boy". No ads in the car and only the "John Boy" must have been a big financial downside for them. But great effort, though their performance wasn´t surprising.

Toyota has some serious problems. The fire excuishoner (sp?:D) blew and Panis had to retire. Da Matta didn´t do miracles either.

Jordan was as slow as usually.

And again, some of my thoughts, thank you for reading :D

Cheers

I enjoyed the race... but i also appreciate watching MS' brilliance and on his way to firmly set himself as the greatest F1 driver ever!

Thought Rubens would have ran a bit better... but another podium. 👍

As for the rest of the pack... nice to see the new McLaren coming into it's own... give em 2 more races to really tweak the car and they'll be running up at the front even more so than this weekend.

Congrats to Sauber... nice to see a team like that put a hurt on a team like Williams... i'd say Fisi might find his way into a top team the way he's been driving for Sauber.

speaking of Williams, they really need to fix their cars stat! When you're rivalling Jordans and Minardi's at the back of the pack, you've got some trouble. Gene also looks horrendous... say what you want about the car, he certainly isn't stamping out his ride for 2005 with Williams like many thought he would... Montoya had a good drive given the car (from what i saw), but i still feel like he's already checked out of the team, and is waiting for the season to end.

As for BAR, pretty lacklustre from Button and Sato was invisible (although at least he didn't blow his engine for a change).

What happened to Renault?!?!?!? Thankfully Jarno is alright, but after 2 really strong races and a great looking season, they seemed to fall off the face of the earth here... Alonso couldn't pass anyone if his life depended on it, i guess the swapped engine didn't do him any favours.

Toyota prolly can't wait for RS to join their camp... Panis and Da Matta need to go ASAP.

Jordan... same old same old.

For Jag... good drive for Webber... been a tough year.

and  Minardi... JB RIP, class act from the team for a long time staple of the F1 Paddock.

Oh I'm sorry. I didn't know I was required to write an essay. It'll never happen again.

But while I'm here I have a piece of advice for the other drivers: Drive faster guys.

There. Problem solved.

Agreed, after huge hits its scares the crap out of us not seeing some kind of movement from the driver. Couple of years ago at Petit when the Panoz was destroyed in practice at 10 the driver sat in the car, not moving, one hand on the wheel. I can't remember who was driving... but after about 30 seconds of furious whistle blowing they finally got his attention and he gave the thumbs up. In fact finally after they got him out of the car he apologized to the marshalls for not acknowledging them sooner, he said he was talking to the crew about what happenned and what would be needed to repair the car. But then again according to Max Mosley we are amateurs and have no business touching an F1 car or driver :banghead: Guess that is why Kimi was allowed to push a marshall earlier this year after his blowup.

Yeah I saw the thumbs up on the first bit too, which is why I wasn't worried., This is of course before we saw the actual crash.

I wrote it elsewhere but I'd just like to add to those admiring Minardi's class and indeed that of Mark Webber who of course knows John from 2002 and was right at the front during Minardi's minute silence.

Well, Alonso went for a one-hell-of-a-ride. Good to see he wasn't seriously hurt. It was a very good race. But, 'Macher' does it again. Next week, it's the American Le Mans race, then another F1 race following a week later. Till' then.

I would think thats who he meant, although Fisi drove a great race from last to 6th
I meant Fisi when I said go Fisi!

But for the rest of it I meant Kimi, I should have stated myself more clearly.

"Context" is a word you're going to come to know very intimately in high school next year, then these things won't happen ;)

There's a difference between an essay and 5 words leetcake - if that's truly all you thought then that's sad.

Trulli got wasted. Alonso just didn't get anywhere. But on the brightside fisi made 14 positions.

What the hell, high school?? Haha no.

The reality of this is that I was only venting my frustration at Shumi winning again. I didn't desire any imput from you or captain pikachu and I didn't think I was being clever. LOL internet.

What sad is that you two and me are wasting time posting asshole comments over a four letter "sentance" said in frustration over a stupid race that was already won before it even started.

What IS the problem anyway? Hasn't anyone been posting old pics in GT4 for a while? I'm sure there is someone else you can pump your ego up on.

Colour me sarcastic.

I think he was talking about context to me.

Anyway girls, stop all the fighting and the fueding.

Christ this is worse than watching the year 7's fight for hang outs on there first day of high school.
