Sim Racing Madness [SRM] simracingmadness.comPS4

Thank you for the information everyone. I'll keep playing solo with the GT3 GT-R and if the Glen is two weeks out, maybe I'll figure something out by then. I partly think it has something to do with my throttle and brake threshold settings. Barely touch the accelerator pedal and I'm pretty much at full throttle. A lot of those GT-R tunes were just added a few days ago, before there were only 4 or 5 and I don't have an account on that forum site. Debating on creating one. Thanks again.

Just thought I would give you guys a heads up but I won't be able to race on Tuesdays anymore for a while. Wife started school and she gets home as soon as qualifying starts. So go ahead and put me in reserves

Ok, going to stick with the schedule as is, so next GT3 race is 9/3 @ the Glen. I hope to have something up on Saturday with details for the upcoming short series.
Just curious as to my practices, what would I set my racing realism to, I've never ran my set-ups to no radiator and that doesn't affect the performance in the vehicle? Asking for me.

PS
I know the Cadillac isn't fast enough to compete but I shouldn't be getting my doors blown off the way I was... :nervous:

To be able to run with the radiator 0% open, "Mechanical Failures" needs to be turned OFF.

Thanks. So in game SRM lobby, mechanical failures are off? Are you fast guys running that way? I've always practiced full simulation.

Not sure about all SRM lobbies, but in the GT3 Endurance Series @sgohsixthree has them turned off. Thus, I shut the radiator all the way cause I am not going to damage the engine. Therefore I can eek out that last little bit of acceleration and top speed.

I dunno if all the "fast guys" are running that way, but when the option presents itself I do.

Thanks again. I wasnt sure, I've always set mine accordingly to the temp on the gauge.

To be 100% honest you should, that is the correct way to think about it. Thus, you always have to make sure of the lobby settings before you use this little added benefit of closing it up.
I have found a few more seconds with it closed up but the Caddy still lacks consistency, thinking I might be switching over to the Ginetta , seems to be faster in the corners. WIP

HA! I didn't think I made the Ginetta look that easy to drive. You can try but, consistency very much seems to be the tradeoff with cornering speed. The reason the car worked at Road America us I tuned it specifically for turn in because of the nature of the track. That's why it was fast, I cannot guarantee any speed at other tracks.

I'm thinking you're right, well I guess about a month of practice should be sufficient time to decide. :odd:

As far as the radiator thing goes......I have noticed on certain cars in the game (whether mechanical Failures are on or not) once you get over 230 degrees you can lose horsepower according to the stat on the tire screen. I've stated before...I'm not gonna say that tuning doesnt help because we all know that your downforce settings can drastically change how the car reacts....but I do think tuning is completely overrated on this game. The guys you see at the front aren't just the guys who have figured out how to get the car to adapt to them....its the guys who figure out how to adapt to the car. I dont really know much about tuning. I have learned some helpful things from a few guys and I'm really appreciative for their help.....but most things I put forward in this game I have tested extensively and have seen them work over and over again. Little crazy things mostly.

One is at Indy Oval. In the real world one would think there is no way that a team would stick a wet tire/rain tire on the left front when the track is completely dry right? But on here most cars benefit from that tremendously. Not only will it help the tire keep temp (which on this game a tire will wear less if it's the proper temp being neither too cold or too hot....also the second set of tires always wear at a slower rate compared to the first or third sets) but it also will help with gaining 2 to 3 mph in the turns. Maybe I shouldn't say gain but it will keep the car from scrubbing at least 2 to 3 mph off speeds in the turns.

I say choose the option which makes less work you

:banghead::mad::lol: - Love you @SGETI! But what can I say, I'm a glutton for punishment. :ouch::D

Nothing we've done has been crazy enough yet. I mean, there's gotta be more stuff to pull out of the game. Well maybe, we'll find out! By the end of this we'll see how many want to still run on Tuesday Nights. The last weeks races are particularly mad, that will require explanation once we're in the lobby... See you then?

I used to close my radiator, but it seemed late in the race that cars started pulling away from me. Although it could be any number of reasons, when I stopped closing the radiator, it didn’t seem to happen. But again this could be X number of reasons that probably have to do with me.

:gtpflag: RACEDAY ALERT!! :gtpflag:

Tonight we begin the less-than-serious Escort Mania Series! Did I mention it is a no tune series? No tunes, no tire wear, no fuel, no driver rating. We’ll be doing 5 races tonight. The last 2 will be in reverse. I had a blast with this car on this track. The crazy pit boxes should make the mandatory pits fun too. :scared:

See you tonight!

No it's not about you, I just thought I heard someone say something about closing the radiator at the last race and I had forgotten to close mine.

But here's your prize for thinking it was about you.

mmmm.... With damage off: If the radiator can be closed with no or minimal impact, what about the brake ducts?

@SGETI Tonight is going to be a different kind of fun. Hopefully we try to keep it clean even though there are no points or bragging rights.

Brake ducts: I was actually referring to the GT3 conversation and was wondering if hot brakes have the same zero or minimal impact on brake performance as an overheating engine has on engine performance when damage is turned off.

From my testing (no matter what the damage is set to) hot brakes can lose the ability to slow the car down. Keep in mind when I test on this game it's usually in intervals of 45-60 minutes and not just a 5 lap or 10 minute run.

Also for note....I've heard many people say that closing up brake ducts can help with keeping heat in a tire....I'm not disputing that claim except when the air temp is under 64 degrees farenheit. When it's under 64 degrees farenheit I have never seen brake temp make a difference in the actual tire temp thru a run
