I'm not convinced that they have stolen your idea tbh. If people are going to make a racing rig from PVC pipe, there will always be a degree of similarity due to the components used. That said, their design still differs slightly from yours. A bit like real car design perhaps?

I reckon that's harsh. Whether or not the design is ripped off, simul8r is just posting a response to someone who found a bunch of old threads and posted some BS story about their 'brothers' rig with a link to the website in each of them. I'd be glad to see them all deleted.

I totally agree with you robulus. I think what simul8r was trying to do was inform readers that they don't need to buy when they can build their own from plans he has provided for FREE!
Being one who built his rig from his plan, I really am thankful for the Big Guy. Lots of guys posting their DIY rigs but only a couple has the big heart to share their plans to everyone.👍👍👍

its a shame that someone feels the need to take someone elses goodwill and then steals the idea to try to make money from it by passing it off as thier own.

I actually dont have a problem with him trying to do that...within reason. At the very least he should have contacted simul8r and asked permission. If given, then game on. If not, he should have attempted to develop his own pvc idea for sale and not take/use someone elses original idea. Putting wood over a 95% exact copy of an idea does not constitute any sort of original idea and at least as far as I'm concerned is stealing.

Ultimately, this is why there are so few options for plan ideas for building your own cockpit. When I started researching this idea so I could build one of my own, I was petrified of this exact thing....I'd see tons of ideas, but NO reference material or explanation on how to do it because people were more worried about how to line their pockets. Fortunately that only proved partially true, and not completely. I'm extremely grateful that Sim put his plans up so others could try it and when I posted questions and eventually pictures of mine completed, I gave him and Eddy complete credit and my thanks.

I apologize to this thread for what seemed to be spamming, I was just responding to the mention of henardracing wherever it was found and performed the quickest remedy I thought best and didn’t realize at the time what I was doing. After being warned by the team of GPT I made a apology to them as well. However, I would still point out that my SIMUL8R plans are still free to download for those wanting to build their own rig and with the help of the forums I earlier mentioned you too can build your own PVC pod cheaper and better than what henardracing promotes. In the meantime, I am currently working towards somehow patenting the design to help prevent something like this from happening again.

simul8r, as a future builder of your cockpit (already have all the mats) I feel your pain, and think that if anyone should be getting any profit, it's you not this website. Alas, I know you don't do it for profit but it is unfair to see someone else taking advantage of your good will.

Good luck patenting your design and keep us posted in Eddy's topic if you ever manage to take any sort of action against this individual.
