In creative writing class yesterday, we talked about six word short stories. They originated when Ernest Hemingway once bet some people at a restaurant that he could write an entire short story in six words, wrote it down on a napkin, passed it around the table, and collected his winnings. The story was "For sale: baby shoes, never worn."

I'd like to see what six word short stories people on GTP can come up with, these can be quite clever.

This is my 666th post, by the way.

I think we had something similar before, IIRC, and that ended up getting locked.

The thread is 6 word short stories. Not build a story six words at a time. :sly:

I think Ettick is missing the humor of Hemingway's original "short story".

I'd also argue that "For sale: baby shoes, never worn" isn't so much a story as it is an advert.

You need to read between the line ;)
Only 6 words is hard. I'm gonna have to do this in Swedish:

"Bilvrak bärgat. I handskfacket en förlovningsring."

Translation:

"Car wreck recovered. In the glove compartment an engagement ring."

Hemingway's example would be only 3 words in Swedish, by the way:

"Säljes: Babyskor, oanvända."
