I have a very hard time as well seeing in how this can succeed Still I find it interesting. One thing is sure that is that I won't steer away from Playstation. It has been my trusty console since the 90ties.
The free development engine is a surprise move as well. Slightly Mad has created a full suite for other developers to utilize as they see fit, without any additional cost. "You want a full engine for free to develop your games on it? You have it....we’ll be shipping a cross platform engine to all developers..."
For me, Ian Bell and his team have more competence than Kaz Yamauchi and PD.
After all, they managed to deliver far more content and in less time than the "worshiped" PD staff.
Ian Bell, if I were you, would concentrate my energies to displace the PD games.
I'm sure if you had the BUDGET, you would produce a much better game than the last GT games.
If they had the budget they would at least be able to afford some gamepads for people at the studio. Sadly the reality is only first party devs get access to dualshocks. For me, Ian Bell and his team have more competence than Kaz Yamauchi and PD.

I feel shocked!
Considering the financial gap between such a large developer like PD and the relatively smaller SMS, it's done a fairly good job, in my opinion. If it had the same amount of resources as these 1st party devs, than it would be really interesting to see what they'd churn out. The major point that I feel PD has over other devs is how pretty their games look, and that difference isn't as large as it was last generation.
To add to this (if it's indeed a console they're making), the Mad Box is a definite no go for me if it doesn't come equipped with Netflix, YouTube, HBO and Amazon Prime apps etc etc, basically all of the on demand streaming apps that the PS3 had and PS4 currently has.- what other games will run on it? NFS? Forza? GT? AC? The Crew? and that's just most popular racing games
- What hardware will run on it ? Wheels, pads, VR, mouse keyboard?
I have, like, six devices in my home that do all that. Every new entertainment device is "smart" . It's amazing how many people are anxious to see failure. Why so much negativity? Somebody's dream is coming to fruition, and.people want to tear it down before it even gets it's feet off the ground. And these aren't even the real threats... The companies that stand to loose market share and have real power and influence in the form of capital. Can't we get behind @IanBell for what he's trying to accomplish on a type of indie level? I for one would like to at least see the product and decide for myself if it's something I would like to own.To add to this (if it's indeed a console they're making), the Mad Box is a definite no go for me if it doesn't come equipped with Netflix, YouTube, HBO and Amazon Prime apps etc etc, basically all of the on demand streaming apps that the PS3 had and PS4 currently has.
I use my PS4 just as much for watching movies and YouTube as I do for gaming.
SMS will make a pretty big mistake if they neglect to include these features.
Souljaboy, is that you?! Unfortunately, that isn't enough of a reason to just ignore potential issues. Much like the Souljagame Console. That was his "dream" but it was incredibly shoddy. But hey, lets just ignore those issues because this man has a dream.Somebody's dream is coming to fruition, and.people want to tear it down before it even gets it's feet off the ground.
I don't see too many people being overly-cynical, more so questioning why. There's lots of questions raised with little of it making sense.I have, like, six devices in my home that do all that. They seem to have enough budget to be putting out their own console...I'm sure if you had the BUDGET, you would produce a much better game than the last GT games.

I'll also ask this forum what have you put forth in the sim racing world to justify your SMS criticism?

Aren't they also making a Mobile Project Cars?Called Project Cars GO
They're also refining the Project Cars "Pro" Enterprise Solution, developing a Fast and Furious Game and planning another game in the mainline Project CARS series.
