Slow Arcade AI with tuned cars

I normally play GT6 either online or in singleplayer practice, but I decided to try an Arcade mode race for fun... this is what happened;

This is on professional difficulty. I know GT6 AI is already a bit "lacking", but this felt like playing dodgeball. The car I'm driving is an MR2 G-Limited (normally 405pp) tuned to 500pp on Sports Hard, no driving aids except ABS. Does the game only pit you against AI with similar pp and tyres to the stock version of your car? There must be some way to get faster AI in singleplayer :/ It would be nice if online play wasn't the only medium for close racing in tuned cars..

Add some extra power or reduce the weight before you enter, to be matched against faster AI cars. I don't know if the AI uses the same tyres as you do, but if they do you can try to enter the race with softer compunds, and then change back to harder compunds before you start the race.
You can also change the aggressive settings of the AI in the options menu, if you haven't already done that.

Also, note that the AI doesn't adapt their suspension or transmission to your settings, so any benefits you gain from tuning those is something that the AI won't be able to match. To compensate you might have to limit your power and take on some extra weight.

I usually do arcade single race with comfort tires fitted and intentionally add more power ( about 50-100 HP more ) then I revert back the power after the track is loaded, the AI seems to stuck with sports tire though ( even when I used weather track - rain/surface water at more than 30% ) I never really checked them on every race/track ( could be wrong on the tire ), so experiment with different variables, save the replay and see their pace + tires.

No matter what upgrades you install, the AI selection in GT6 will determined as if your car is stock.

Different in GT5 where it adapts with your PP change. Yes, GT6 AI selection algorithm are a downgrade from GT5. Worse is the AI PP range. GT5 puts all AI as closest PP as you. GT6 wide the range but with consequences. (Why Skyline R34 put up with Ferrari 458 Italia, for example.)

GT6 AI cars are tied to the level you choose it seems, professional gives the highest level cars.

Interesting is the courtesy cars ( super gt cars ), it has specific AI cars field.

Well, that's disappointing...

Pre-tuned cars like the Pozzi Motorsports Camaro RS or the Nissan GT-R Nismo will often be matched to AI race cars and can provide some good races. Give it a try!
