So I'm very new to suspension tuning. I'm planning on buying coilovers for my car. I've already ordered larger sway bars (front and back), stiffer bushings, and wider/bigger wheels to increase contact patch. Granted my car has **** driving dynamics as it's voted by Top Gear the worst car in the world , I ****ing adore this thing. So I want to improve on tuning suspension. Basically if someone can explain to me how to tune my coilovers in order to increase driving dynamics without sacrificing the sublime ride quality. Car is basically 53/47 weight distribution; closer to 51:49 with the top down. Total weight of 3900-4000lbs with people... yes it's a fat pig. Now my question is, is it better to have a stiffer springs and soft dampers? I now know that soft suspension has more compliance which in turn give more contact at the ground. BUT, I need stiffer setup to reduce the body roll. Granted I have a thicker sway bar coming in but it won't defeat it as I've heard from past users. Also would a stiffer front suspension vs rear a proper way to setup the coilovers for the weight distribution? How would compression and rebound affect the ride? I do not track at all. This is going to be my daily so I don't want it to be jarring. The most I'll ever do is going fast at Mulholland Canyons. I'd like a nice well controlled, firm, and flat but compliant ride.
