I thought you guys might enjoy this post from the VLN thread because it not only put 90 minutes into perspective but because one of your regulars made the whole thing work!

I just found this while wandering around in my computer.....this is the preliminary stint schedule for 2015 24 hours of Nurburgring for Team DART in AJ's actual time (as in the race starts at the local time at the actual track )racing series. There were four of us on the team. @TEX36 (Jack) planned every race, taking in driver preferences. Each driver did 2 basically 3 hour turns at the wheel.

TRACT is a typo...it is Track Time.

My first stint was from 1740-2020 local...and my second was from 0420 till 0700. And...we did it....about every month. A staggering amount of time went into just the paperwork to make the stints work. BTW the sun set and sun rise were done by time progression and were NOT at European latitudes...thus it was dark as hell from about 8:30 till 0630

This is the race during which the story I have told many times took place.....and...for the last time....here it is.

Its 0630 local Ring time ( the sun is illuminating the Castle) and I am about to finish my second 3 hour Stint most of which was spent in the "green Haze" half asleep. Just as my "I'm really feeling sorry for myself" level has almost pegged....because its been real quiet..no Skype..and Messenger had been silent for hours. I had also turned off the race commentary stream on my computer (during a pit stop) because it was many minutes behind real time and confused me...try watching the road and the TV at the same time some time at the Ring, at night.

When all was presumed lost...my instant messenger on the phone "dings". It was Jack, whom I had already written off as having fallen asleep, The message was...

YOU ARE NOT ALONE!

I remember, I was on the Dottinger Hoe....and suddenly I was full of vigor, Thank you Jack!

This schedule was massaged by Jack between the other three of us of us and I think I did both of my stints in the dark with someone taking a stint in the middle so I could eat dinner...... and the race was done in a practice room....with all timing and scoring taking place when the organizer looked at every snap shot we took while entering and leaving the pits and then crunched the numbers...and about four days later a winner was declared...and then protested by everybody. It was about team work

I would do it again, but I would let some young kid take a triple while this gentleman driver took a single (in the dark but a single all the same). Our 3 hour races here in the Rats are ONE of the TWO stints done by all the drivers in that race. 48 Drivers took place in those events.

You guys are hardcore @GTP_Nail. I still cant figure out how you were able to do driver swaps though. I know for some 24H events teams were actually physically present among each other and would take turns. But how were you able to pull it off remotely?

iRacing has it down with fully supported driver swaps. Hopefully we get something like that in GT one day.

you had to wait till your current driver left the practice room which you noted by seeing the room count dropping to 15/16. Then you entered the pits, hit continue, snapped a screen shot, and off you went. It was fraught with all kinds of fu’s. Including having two driver in room at once... challenging... Absurd even

Ahhh ok that makes sense. So the race was never officially "started" in-game, it was more like an open track so people could hop in and out. If I'm understanding correctly. What a timing/scoring nightmare :banghead:

A lot of Photos of Pit Entry & Exit to log Time progressions and length of Required Pit Stops. The photos were submitted to Race Scoring after you finished a stint.

Quite the challenge, to be sure. Forgetting to take a photo was a major problem. So, reminding each other about that was important.

Tonight’s the final race night of the season.
We have 3 drivers who potentially have a shot at the title. With it being double points anything can happen.

@SAMHAIN85 @Herimopp89

Next week will be a special fun race. I don’t have all the details yet but I am closing in on the final decisions.

Let's be real for a second I'd need a miracle
