I don't think it would be a big deal in having to open up another room for a second or third track. It would give a few minutes to everyone to get up, stretch, use the bathroom, get a drink, ect. I think everyone does that anyway in between races. It would be about the same time if you changed tracks while in the same room.

I like the idea of a break in between races. I will be running some laps tomorrow morning and then (to borrow from Sunday night) I will post three "combo" options for each class that is scheduled and anyone can vote on what they want to run Saturday night. We will see how this works and adjust if needed. I'm open to suggestions for cars and tracks to use so if you have ideas, post them up.

This is meant to be fun on a Saturday night so the more input from those that are racing, the more potential fun it's going to be.

I'm also liking the thought of putting some water on the track to get it to feel more like a dirt track but this is going to take some testing. We will get to that later but keep it in the back of your minds.

Car choices for this Saturday night. Please vote for one from each group. This will be a spec race so everyone in the same car and no tuning allowed. Tire compound and wear will be set to allow for some give up but not so much that a pit stop would be needed. Track choices will be out tomorrow. You can vote on cars until I post the tracks about this time on Friday.

Hi JL

My vote 2 5 9. I did some testing in arcade mode at talledega very fun but I was way faster than the AI set to professional...can't wait to race in a pack with real racers. Thanks for putting this together...

@DCschwinn - check this out if you have time!.

I am more than interested. Lots of good guys joining up. Saturdays are tough but mostly doable. No votes for me, I will race anywhere and in anything, except tuners, I'm a spec guy.

BEWARE THE YELLOW PERIL

SNAIL Oval Racing
work in progress

When: Selected Saturday nights at 10:00 PM ET

What: Racing on ovals, tri-ovals, "D" shaped tracks, and whatever other oval-like shape we can get out of the course maker.

The goal of this series is to get together, run some cars on some ovals, and have some fun. The SNAIL OLR will apply for this series, however, this is for fun and it's ovals so a little rubbing is going to be tolerated. It's still not acceptable to ram into other drivers or intentionally spin them out. Basically, if you leave room for another car at any time, you should expect someone to come along and fill the space you left open.

There will be no points and no prizes for winning anything.

Tracks will be chosen from those that I have created or downloaded from others. If you know of some tracks that would be good to use here, get me a link and I'll take a look at it. We may also throw in the occasional trip to the in game ovals.

Cars will be selected using two methods.
1. Everyone will use the same car and we will run spec races (no tuning allowed)
2. Everyone will be given specs to meet and you can run whatever you want within those specs (tuning allowed)

If you're interested post in this thread.
If you have any questions or suggestions, post in this thread.
Please note that this post is a work in progress and it will be updated and changed based on what is going on in the thread and the development process of the series.

Here is the schedule for Saturday night. First race will start shortly after 10 PM ET. Tires and laps will be announced tomorrow but you can all expect to see 25 to 30 minutes for each race and the tires and wear set up in a way that will allow for worst tire to be at a 7 or 8 by the end of the race. No need for a stop but enough to force some adjustments to how you are taking the corners. Please note that tire wear may or may not be possible to get right for the Talladega track but I will try.

It was just brought to my attention that someone needed a friend request to be accepted in order to get the tracks from me. Is there anyone else in that boat right now? I haven't accepted any friend requests in months because my list it nearing capacity.

You don't need to be friends listed to get tracks. Just have to be logged in on the gran turismo community site and have a link to the track from whomever has it on share. I have several tracks from folks that aren't in my friends list.

I don't know why but I'm having trouble. If we're friends there will be no problem. It will get sorted out tomorrow.
