My younger brother took it up and soon was on the cover of magazines, sponsorships and olympic dreams.
The key to it all, is speed. You can't learn to carve, if you're not moving with sufficient velocity.
Who is your younger brother?
Speed is incredibly clutch in snowboarding. There's a huge hump of intimidation to get over, but once you get more and more comfortable with the deck undreneath you, you're set. And also don't even consider hitting anything in the park without speed. Just gotta swallow hard, drop in and point it and you're good. Any feature, any trick. The only thing I can think of that requires as little speed as possible is a
noseblock (Solomon Arnie3000 - good deck), but that's more of a messing-around trick than formal parkwear.
This year was pretty magical, I didn't go as often as I would've liked (last season I got 49 days in, versus only 36 this season) but I got more quality riding in. I can loft comfy biiiig backside 180s on park jumps, front one, switch back one, cab one, front three, back three and front 5. Plus I really eased further into my board's flex, so buttering
everything and pressing is far easier for me. Me and the kiddies I ride with got some minor sponsorship from a local shop, which was serious fun. Riding with the actual team was incredible, you get such good vibes when you are being motivated by the bigger names in local riding.
