Okay, number three in my series...

What beers do people drink?

My preferred brews in no particular order:

Domestic (Australian)
- Hahn Premium
- Cascade Premium
- Coopers Sparkling Ale
- Coopers Extra Stout
- Malt Shovel Brewery Great White
- Hahn Witbier (white beer)
- Boags Strongarm

Imported (apologies for spelling)
- Stella Artois
- Carlsberg (regular and elephant)
- Becks
- anything Belgian, particularly Duvel and Hoengarten
- Samuel Adams
- Peroni
- Guiness (on tap at the pub)
- Kilkenny (on tap at the pub)

What beer is everyone else drinking?

Beer?? Yuck, yuck, yucky. Beer is nasty. Besides, aren't most of the members here too young to drink? Or am I the only one who followed that rule (with the exception of the sip I had when I was four.. what do you expect when my parents owned a bar? hehe)

Mixed drinks are more my thing.

Well, why don't you start a mixed drink thread? And beer is not yucky - you just haven't learnt to appreciate it!

I keep forgetting a lot of the US has a drinking age of 21 - still those drinkers amongst us can contribute!

Cheers!

18 - although I actually cut back on drinking when I turned 18 because I was one of the first in my group of friends to get my license.

Ah, I see. :)

I don't drink, but if I did, it would probably be the finer of the dark liquids. I think I could get into Guiness (on tap), that's what my 'intelligent' friends drink.

We actually have a bar in Little Rock that has nearly 200 beers on tap at all times. The wall is nothing but taps. Crazy stuff ...

Are they actually all different beers or do the taps feed out of the one keg? :D

Imagine working your way through them - that'd be a long night (and one VERY ugly hangover).

Actually, they're all different. No two alike. Also ... you get your name put up at the top of the wall in the center of a gold plate if you drink all 300+ beers that they serve. Not in one night though ... they'd be charged for aiding suicide! (:

The names go about 80% of the way around the room now, with walls about 60 feet long. I'd guess there are over 200 names.

The buisiness is "The Flying Saucer", hence the plates. The walls and ceiling are also covered with different plates. It's really a cool place actually. If you're ever in the states, come visit me. I'll pay your membership for their challenge and you can drink till you burst. Maybe we'll get an Aus-man up there (:

I must admit I haven't tried many (many - I think I meant any) Canadian beers - they're generally pretty hard to get here, I've seen Labatts around, and maybe Molson, certainly not Kokanee.

What style of beer are they? Are they clear pilsners like many Europeans?

Genuine attempt - just missed the 'n'.

I have never had root beer - just not something you see 'down under'. What is it like?

Rootbeer is like Coke, but taste better. I drink Barq's cause it makes me burp loud, and coming from a noisy family(don't ask, you will be sickend), it makes me on top as for burping.

Sorta surprised you don't have it, Barq's is made by Coke Cola, so I would think that it's world wide.

I think root beer's a US thing.

And I won't hear you put down bodily noises like that. I love a good belch and fart. Especially fart. ;)

Rootbeer is usually highly carbinated and very sweet. It also tends to be thicker than your average 'soda pop'. Mighty tasty stuff. I've been staying away from carbination and -trying- to avoide caffine for quite some time, though.

My friends call Corona "The Mexican piss beer". I guess they don't share the same taste as you (: Well, except for one guy. But he's always been somewhat of a strange breed.

I don't know why I'm commenting, as I don't even drink alcohol.

alcohol brings so many fun times to you... getting to the point when you are not quite drunk and not quite able to walk but can still manage some motor skills then wondering the streets of a big city if the best thing to do... ive had so much fun just wondering boston while highly intoxicated :D

Australian's don't drink Fosters, except maybe the light (Foster's Ice, which tastes nothing like full strength Fosters, actually it tastes like nothing - it has no taste).

Seriously, CUB (the brewers) push it as the national beer but the only place you'll find it on tap is at pubs where tourists go.

Victoria Bitter (VB) is generally the preferred brew, although I don't personally care for it - has an odd metallic taste, although it's better on tap.

I drank VB when I was in Oz, but didn't like it. Sorry to be gross, but it had this aftertaste of bile that I just couldn't get past you know?! :( And in the UK it's pretty awful too.

No, when I was out there I drank, for my sins, Swan Lager. Which I liked, quite a lot!
