Let us know what's making you pick this up, what's it been like so far?

For those of us on the fence after seeing the preview material, what have you liked so far? Disliked so far?

Personally I'm interested in what they claim is "broadcast quality pre-race build up", from what I've seen so far this seems pretty outlandish, and also if there's anything extra to the career mode than the barebones experience we've seen in previews.

Online will go live as well of course, did they patch in private lobbies? Does it have a GTS style mode with official races you can join or like Heat where you can only join public lobbies other players make?

I pre ordered cause I love Nascar and was hoping this would finally be the game that got it right.

Can't really give much of a review though since I haven't been able to make it out of the garage/ of pit lane yet cause of the stupid tablet thing.

The crew chief hands you a tablet then on the bottom 2 options pop up. Look at crew chief or review data.

The "look at crew chief" option is the one that lets you go to the track but those next options just randomly pop up and shoot across the screen so you can't actually pick one, 6 tries now at 6 different tracks with the same result.

Absolutely enrageing ********, plus, as far as I can tell you can't fine tune your steering wheel at all and the buttons on it do nothing so you need to have a remote as well and it seems like the clutch and shifter are also useless given the lack of options.

Don't waste your money like I did, this is a joke and not at all what was promised.

Haha, I did manage to skip sessions and make it to the prerace stuff, real not to exciting, a couple cut scenes of drivers on pit row and a fly over, didn't even have a start engines command.

Finally made it on track and it only gets worse. Can barely hear the engine, as expected the clutch and shifter are useless and there is no mirror in the car so you can't see anything.

I guess, since the buttons on the wheel don't do anything, you're supposed to also hold on to the controller and use it in the event you actually want to see the cars behind or beside you.

I also couldn't even make it 100' at Talladega without hitting the wall even with full assists on, the easiest possible track to drive and I have a couple hundred wins in heat 5 at the highest difficulty with 0 driving assists.

This is absolutely ridiculous.

Christ that's far worse than even expected. Have they had the day 1 patch out yet?

I'm still contemplating on whether or not I should cancel my preorder today. Most of the game's reception has been very negative.

The current state of gaming<<<

Got it and it has its strong points. Game is very barebones and PS4 is in BETA state. Only G29 is supported. Rest of the wheels don't work yet. Game is rough and there is no feedback whatsoever on the controller. This needs a few patch rounds. Dev responded this evening and there is a new patch waiting for approval. Most likely it'l launch with the standard edition the 28th.

An unmitigated disaster that should never have been released in this state.

To get my T300 working I had to copy across my RFactor 2 wheel config file, and even then it doesn't have FFB. Oh and you can't bind any wheel buttons or use the wheel to navigate at all, it literally may as well not have buttons on it as far as the title is concerned. They have literally failed to implement basic functionality that is in RF2!

It somehow manages to look worse than RF2 despite being on UE, you can only change PC video card settings once you are in an event via the event options, the main menu settings don't allow you to do it. It's an utter and complete mess that as it stands right now no one at all should buy.

I'm going to pass on this one until it is quite cheap. Hopefully the game sells enough to where they have enough money to fix the glitches and make a decent sequel.

I had the Champions Edition pre-ordered but cancelled when we got within a month of release and still didn't have much info. Certainly dodged a bullet with that one considering I used the money to but Flight Simulator instead. I may pick it up down the line if they actually fix the major issues, but I'm not getting my hope up considering the state they launched it in and the rather terrible communication we've seen from the developer both leading up to release and the time since they sent out early copies.

Also, the more I see the more I have to wonder why they didn't just squeeze another year out of Heat while making Ignition a finished game. It would have allowed them to launch with the Next Gen car as well instead of using one that will be obsolete in 2 weeks.

I really hate how late the game comes out in the season itself. The game is both inaccurate and glitchy so it's not worth a purchase.

It doesn't bode well for the other series that MotorsportGames now have the licences for.
No, no it does not. No idea how anyone in their right mind would have thought this to be acceptable, and the only answer is it's just another cynical attempt by the Motorsport Network to extract money from fans with basically zero effort put forth. Pretty sure the main reason they've bothered to release a game at all is just so they can sell rights to NASCAR (and eventually WEC, IndyCar and what have you) to larger franchises like Forza and Gran Turismo.

Not getting dime one from me.

What platform are you on?
PS4

Managed to get a few laps in today but without being able to fine tune the wheel it's extremely hard to drive, especially in traffic. What makes this more annoying is while the game is loading tips stream across the screen and one of them is " fine tune your driving controls to improve your experience", lol.

The no mirror is also very stupid as is being unable to use the buttons on the steering wheel, have to have the controller on your lap and try to quickly push buttons when necessary without crashing.

I had engine noise for 2 laps then it went away again, started a new game and my hood was flapping around as soon as I started and a few other issues, definitely not impressed.

Seeing a lot of people mentioning they'd cancelled pre-orders leading up to release, they must be reeling off those numbers, I can't imagine launch sales are good given the negative press everywhere.

I'm bummed and pissed that this game turned out to be an utter flop, I feel so dumb for defending it.
The initial signs were promising, there was reason to bite back at the naysayers, you weren't to know how it would unfold from there.

There's a thread on F1 chat over at Codies that literally starts with wow this game looks amazing big challenger to F1 titles! and then degenerates over time as news and previews came out into the same as we see in this thread. It's a pretty sad story considering all the good will they had initially.

Cancelling pre-orders is good, don't reward these guys with a sale.
Likely they were expecting to use that pre-order/early adopter money to fund the first round of patches, so those cancellations are greatly reducing the chances of future support. Not that I'm saying this is okay, quite the opposite. It's just the unfortunate nature of the games industry.
I feel like part of the reason lots of racing game series are becoming stagnant or releasing crap is that there are a ton of people who just pre-order/buy basically any game with a car on the cover.
There's also that motorsports games are becoming more and more of a niche genre, most of the ones that are out don't really specialize in any particular type of racing discipline because they need to appeal to as many people as possible, and the ones that do specialize always seem to be fraught with problems that never truly get resolved.

Look into the launch and the short term possibility of fixes with one of QA guys from Slightly Mad Studios

"Refund the game if you don't like it. Don't sit around and wait for these guys who are just trying to manipulate you, trying to gaslight you into thinking the situation isn't as bad as it quite clearly is at this point"

While both your points are valid, this is on another level entirely.

This is way, way beyond the issues that the likes of PC3 or Cyberpunk 2077 had at launch, I've literally played (true) Alpha builds that have been in better shape that this, and you expect Alpha's to fall over regularly.

I know that expecting issues and the need for Day 1 patches has become the norm (it shouldn't be, but it is), hell it took far to long to patch in Ardino handbrake support for WRC 10 on PC, but this isn't like that. It's far, far, far worse.

Cyberpunk 2077 set a new standard in messed up releases, e-Football lowered the bar from that. NASCAR Ignition said 'hold my beer' to both and burred the bar a mile underground. Keep in mind that I'm on PC, which is actually the most stable platform (and it's still broken), on console it has times when it just simply doesn't work at all).

Oh, don't think that I'm trying to cut them any slack here. From what I've seen the release version is by all accounts worse than the early one they gave out to some YouTubers a couple weeks ago, and I was giving them the benefit of the doubt with the state of that by presuming "haha funny glitch videos will go viral". That the version they intend to sell for full price has even more problems is absolutely unacceptable, and makes it obvious that their ambition outstripped their ability on this.

And to your point, you're right that Cyberpunk set a new standard. Now it seems like the line of thought is that it's okay to push out a broken game, immediately trot out an apology letter image and "development roadmap" (aka the stuff we should have had figured out in beta 0.5) and ask people to please, please, just be patient and give us a little more time (and money, mostly money). And the only reason this seems to be considered okay is that Cyberpunk still made ridiculous profits despite the game being nearly unplayable at launch in some cases, and that apparently sent a strong message that people have lowered their standards so much that they'll buy a cat turd on just the promise that it'll turn into a gold bar in six months' time.

So you think this game is worse than Cyberpunk was when it came out?

It's anecdotal and not everyone's experience of course but I binged through Cyberpunk when it came out, on Ps4, and had a couple of crashes and some texture issues and that was about it in terms of problems (some clipping here and there and occasional sound glitches but these are not so uncommon just in general gaming).

I just watched someone do a 25% race at Talladega on extreme difficulty and were able to drive around the entire field without drafting on the top lane into the lead.
