Software for livery and decals

Hi everyone,

I am just starting to dabble in the decal and livery editor. What is the besy software for doing this ie creating your own decal or livery, editing, reducing size of file and converting to SVG file with several colours. Is there one that does everything or do i need several different software

You really need a fundamental understanding of what an SVG is and why it's different to a JPG or PNG to understand what you need, and how you make files small enough for GT. Top thing to keep in mind, is that it isn't really a 'converting' process.

To answer your question, though, the best software is not free, so either spend a a couple of hundred quid on CorelDraw (which is my opinion, the best for making decals, and what I use), or settle for Inkscape - which is free - though has some drawbacks. Reducing file size is most commonly done using a website called SVGOMG... Link > https://xerocho.github.io/svgomg/

Thank you very much for replying, the info you gave is very welcome. I think i might already have Corel draw installed on my pc or laptop, but if not i will look into buying it. I will watch your video now.

Just watched your video, very interesting. So you use an actual image to create the new image. Which Carel Draw do you use as there are different editions. Crel draw essentials, standard, graphic suite.

When manually tracing things, yes.

I have the full graphics suite. I think it's the best, but I'll stress again, Inkscape is free and ultimately, they do the same thing.

Ok, thank you again for your help. I will try inkscape first and then move onto Corel Draw if i don't like Inkscape.
