Something that had me stumped for the better half of a week.

I wonder if anyone else was as perplexed as I was on this. :indiff:

So I decide to do the Toyota special races, Vitz race first (with an RS Turbo). I win all 5 no prob, (And win another RS Turbo, gah), so then I look at what is required for the Altezza race. (I could NOT find any Altezzas)

Well, I figured that since there's a Lexus in there, I immediately get the notion that that's not only a car manufacturer, but also one of Toyotas' car names. I looked EVERYWHERE in the Toyota section, I looked in the Used Car lots, and found nothing, but I did find a Lexus GS300, which got me thinking...did PD goof up and put some required cars in another manufacturer?

Sure enough, that's what they did. So much for the "One Make" races... :banghead:

Oh, and where the heck are the Altezzas located? I can't find ANY, unless those are in ANOTHER manufacturer... :boggled:

Lexis IS200/300s, under the American flag (I think.) If you try to enter the race, it lists the cars you need in the entry requirements. Had me confused for a while too. I'm sure there are 'proper' Altezzas in the Japan version (I'm just too lazy to look.)

This sounds a lot like the Subaru Alcyone/SVX dilemma many of us faced in GT2...the races are called "Alcyone" but the car is known as an SVX.

Anyways, I don't know what the answer is (haven't done these races yet) but I'll bet a search of the FAQ area will turn it up.

Yup it's a naming issue. In Japan they're Toyota Altezzas and in the US they're the Lexus IS series. I guess PD was lazy to move over the event to the Lexus dealership :^P It's funny because GT2 not only had the IS series but also the actual Toyota Altezza's (and the event race there was pretty easy to figure out considering) including a rather cool Tom's Altezza which hasn't been spotted since :^P

Dont waste time looking in the used car lots, you will not find a used IS200.
Go to America and enter the Lexus dealer, 3 cars can be used from this dealer, IS200, IS300, L and the IS sports wagon. Buy the car, enter it, buy your part upgrades and then go back to Japan and enter the races from the Toyota dealer.
I think there is a prize LM IS200 that can enter but from memory it is the prize car???

They are the same car, just made by different manufacturers.

they arent even different manufacturers tbh. Do some searching and you will find that Toyota started an extra branch called Lexus. Lexus is basically Toyota's luxury branch.

You will also find that Scion is one of Toyota's companies too.

Spot on there Belisario. It's like this:

Lexus = Rich Man's Toyota. All started with the LS400 and GS300, followed by the ES's then the SC's.
Scion = Toyota for Gen Y. So they don't think their car and Mum's Camry are made by the same company. ;)

Most are boxy pieces of rubbish from the racing vids I've seen going around YouTube, the only one giving them any respect is Ken Gushi's Formula D effort.

I'm sure you meant "LS400 and ES250". The GS wasn't introduced until 4 years later.

We didn't get the ES250 here in Australia, we started with the ES300, and the GS300 came out around the same time. Was good reading the wikipedia article but now I'm puzzled......how have we got a '91 edition GS300 in GT4?? :odd: Unless it's a rebadged Aristo.....oh wait, it already is one. :P
