Sound Cards for $100

Hey all,

I think that its time for me to get a new sound card, and im probably going to spend around $100 Canadian, does anyone have any reccomendations for a sound card that has support of 5.1 surround sound?

Thanks

You can get a Creative Labs Sound Blaster Audigy card for under $60 (~$90 canadian). It does Dobly Digital 5.1, includes a digital out, and a Firewire connection. I have this card and it is one of the best sound cards you can get. I paid $299 for mine two years ago.

thanks...ive heard that sound blaster cards arent very reliable though...is this true?

i just reformated XP and lost the drivers to my old sound card and its a pain in the ass to find the drivers on the internet so i figure i might as well just get a better one

the only problem is i got no sound until i get the sound card so i have to listen to my music on my 5 year old boom box lol...led zeppelin sounds great on that piece of garbage :banghead:

My brothers have a Turtle Beach sound card on their computer. When they upgraded to WinXP Pro, they told me to get the driver and it was just a matter of going to their website and downloading. Other than that they've never had any problems. I guess it just comes down to your preference and money source.

Apparently they only sell one card right now, but I found this diagram to show how to set up 5.1 so that one does support it.
