What tunes would like to have in the game? I'd love to have som GnR and Led Zepplin.

Also it would rock to have the same music in the menuscreens as in the races, i.e. not having that old "dunka-chung-waawaawee"-tune looping all over again. :ouch:
And something that would be a HUGE improvement, should be the sound. The sounds in GT4 are kinda pathetic. They allm, with some exceptions, sound like som freaking R/C. 👎

The day Gran Turismo will sound, feel and maybe even look like this I won't say a word more! :D

Merry christmas, btw. :D

I'm of almost the opposite opinion. The only worthwhile music is the menu music (I quite like it, actually).
The licenced tracks attempt to vary in scope to appeal to everyone, but just end up appealing to... well, not me. I've never left the ingame music on for more then the first few races of each game in the series.
The PS3 will have a hard drive with MP3 capability, I really hope that PD just saves their licencing money and leaves the music selection up to the individual.

I agree with Emohawk. I love the jazzy feel to the menu music.

I particulary like GT2's menu music. It is infact some of my favorite game music ever.

That Jaguar sounds great, btw.

Yeah, that was kinda what I meant. To be able to choose makes a huge difference.

Edit: But I still thinks the enginesounds should be improved. ALOT.

Concerning the Car sounds in the game... i think PD should really invest in a good sound engineer. Someone with the talent of Adam Boyd and John P. Fasal .

These guys did an incredible job in the need for speed franchise. And by this, i don't care that the NFS license is an arcade game... i car about the sounds. The Car sounds in NFS:MW is stunning, especially in 5.1 Surround. I've been in a Ford Mustang '05 and the same car in NFS:MW sounds about 90% as real. I swear to god its scary.

Hopefully PD realise what potential some sound designers have and they push the PS3 to the limit with 10gigs of sounds on the bluRays... its time.

Oh another thing concerning sounds and music...

I really hope SONY jumps on the opportunity of ripping music from CDs with the PS3, just like the Xbox does. And of course, that GT5+ offers the possibility of creating our own soundtracks... that way, everyone's happy.

And btw, just a though, but surfing the GT4 CD, the music folder can probably be changed by replacing the songs by other ones... so with a chipped PS2 and a Custom edited backup copy of GT4...

Improve the engine sounds. All the racecars sound the same, and the production cars don't sound that good. Leave the music selection up to the individual person.

from i bought the game i turned off all music. same thing with GT3, i had no music, i like it quiet. i don't like people walking in and out of the room while i'm playing my game too, and i don't like people watching me play. i just don't like any noise at all, i like to hear the car.

Emohawk and Encyclopedia should be shot in the head for liking that stupid lame music in the menus. ( j/k :sly: )

Yes, the engine sounds should be improved.
Too bad you can't have you own music in the game while playing GT4.

I always turn the music off, in any racing game, especially racing simulators. PD should focus on car sound, maybe the sound of the leaves swaying and wind.

The best music I heard in a racing game was Need for Speed: High Stakes, which was also my favorite in the series, it had the greatest overall flavour. I love the first menu music you encounter I loved that abient technoey underground music, and those big screens where its composed of the smaller screens..BRILLIANT. I think nothing suits cars better. Any european person would agree! The menu music in GT4 isn't serious enough, nor is the layout. In the era Playstation 3 presents, there won't be any room for lighthearted fluffy crap. You need to feel that your're playing a serious, hardcore racing simulator, yet not make it so cold, sterile and distant like something like GTR.

Music has often been a meh thing with me. I like to listen to soothing jingly-jangly singer-songwriter stuff when I drive in traffic, but when I'm going full-bore, the radio is off, the sunroof is open (all the better to hear the wind and the engine) and the road is all I listen to.

Hopefully the PS3 will allow you to store MP3s or audio tracks to play as background music for the game menus. Or maybe an online radio? So Sony can pimp stuff to us while we play? :dopey:

Car Sounds

Now that people have mentioned, I have noticed that the engine sounds in NFS:MW are pretty good.

Most race cars in GT4 may sound the same, but quite a few road cars have personality, from the burble burble of the V8s and big sixes at idle to the gurgle of the Lotus Europa... or from the coarse Mustang-ish sound of the ProtoMotors Spirra to the breath-ey sound of the Subarus.

But overall, I'd say the sounds in GT4 are less inaccurate than under-sampled. Like they took a sample from X rpm and from X rpm and have the processor extrapolate the sound from that (which is why engine sounds at redline are so awkward in some cases). Hopefully, with the storage capacity of the next generation discs, PD won't have to take such shortcuts.

But, in accordance with what RedOak said, it wouldn't hurt to pirate a few American sound engineers, either.
