I recently got an Audigy soundcard. Today I found out that there have been many many complaints about the Audigy series soundcards. So was my buy of the Audigy a good one or bad? Also which is better, the Audigy or the Live series soundcards?

I have the Audigy Gamer and I had no problems with it at all. Besides one problem, if you have XP. The card would make a screeching noise when XP crashed. The current drivers fixed that. What I like the most is the EAX features in games with 5.1 speakers or even headphones! It makes games sound great! Yes, I would say your purchase was worth it. What other card would you buy other then the Live! ? The Live! series is older, but cheaper card. Though, I would keep the Audigy.

Where are you getting complaints? I've seen complaints from the Winamp forums, but that's it.

I'm runnin 98 SE right now. I heard that it doesnt do true 24 bit sound or whatever it was. I have just the plain Audigy. Thats all I had money for. Thats where I've seen the complaints too. Thats pretty much all so far.

It only plays back at 24-bit. It doesn't record at 24-bit. I'm not sure why everyone is so pissy about it. It clearly saids 24-bit multichannel PLAYBACK on the box and I've never seen any other card do 24-bit anything. :shugs:
