Spa-Francorchamps is Not in GT Sport (Yet) Because of Licensing Issues

A couple "What ifs" regarding what could come with Spa:

Maybe the first muti-class racing since Gr.2 GT League events. the events.Due to the Sponsorship with Michelin, maybe this is added to

introduction of TCR cars? First ever TCR only endurance, race early next month

Is there confirmation on if and when we will get Spa???
I remember last month everybody saying "its happening". I guess I missed what it was that was happening but it certainly was not Spa.

There was an article here a month ago saying it was 'confirmed' during the New York event last August but no exact date was revealed.

No date has been announced for the Spa update, but we know it's going to come soon enough. We could get it next week or we may have to wait until October. Surely they can't hold it back for much longer.

We don’t know Tokyo wet is coming before October. If Red Bull Ring is anything to go by Tokyo wet will be a late October/November addition.

There are two unallocated slots in the FIA schedule for early October. It makes most sense they will be Spa. Either way, there’s zero chance licensing has been paid for a tournament and not the full game.
Why is it zero chance?

Spa wil not come?
Of course, it will come.

I'm just sick of people wanted to NOT have Spa in game, just for the meme, or said it's overrated, or said that Kaz just want to play with plus, etc...

Said they developed a well-demanded track and overcome a licensing issue ONLY for a few live events and then not make it available to the public is pure stupidity.

Either way, there’s zero chance licensing has been paid for a tournament and not the full game.

Yes, it is likely spa comes soon. But are you sure you need a license/copyright for a tournament?

Isn't it a private event for which the participants don't pay ? I'm not a lawyer or specialist in copyrights etc, but I know you can play whatever song you want in a private party, and then put it online. As long you don't monetize the video it's fine

At this point I could care less if we had to pay for the DLC content that includes SPA.
Just put it in the damn game already. It's obviously been ready for quite sometime and nothing should be holding it back for a content download now that its been used in the live events.
But this is PD we are talking about and they are know for disappointing people often in the past.

But it's no different from other updates ! It will be free, like always. Why people are always speculate about making the Spa update ultra-special, like a paying DLC? I really don't get it.

Obviously it is special or it would have been in this game a long time ago. Someone decided it was going to cost more money than ever before to obtain the license to use their track. If that's the sole purpose we have not received SPA yet then like I said pass that cost on to the consumer because I have no problem paying for any DLC that I want if that's what it takes.

At this point in time nobody knows if or when SPA is coming or if it will be free or paid DLC. Everything is pure speculation at this time.
Just because PD has not charged for any DLC in GTS doesn't mean that they can't or won't at some point. Seeing as you can already buy some DLC from the PS Store for GTS makes that idea not so far fetched.

I could not agree more, in fact I feel that I have gotten far more than $50 worth of entertainment from the game at this point which was the initial cost. I don't think PD owes us anything for free anymore. I would be happy to pay DLC to bring the new content faster and for more of it.

This is not the policy of PD or Sony. When Ferrari come to GT5, I don't think you paid more than usual. This story of costly license will not change anything. It will change the whole commercial of the game, and GTS will be snobed by most people if a DLC come with a price. They get money from PS Plus and selling the game, plus a lot of extra. They've got no reason to want more money, as they have exclusive partnerships that will certainly cost more money than Spa.

No reason to want more money? Maybe if the demographic who thinks everything should be free paid a mere $5.00 fee (just picking a reasonable amount of money) like those who do not mind paying for DLC PD could put a larger portion of the workforce on creating DLC to bring it to the game sooner. Everything that PD gives us for free costs them money, I'm sure they would be more than pleased to be compensated. I dont have any idea how long people expect to keep getting free DLC for a game that is over 2 years old. I have no idea what PD's slice of the pie is out PS+ since PS+ is not exclusively for GTS. I know when I spent $50 on GTS back in Dec of 2017 no promises of free DLC were made to me nor did I expect free DLC. As far as I am concerned I got far more than $50 of entertainment from GTS and if they want to charge for DLC I will gladly pay it, especially if it were to bring more content at a quicker pace. I dont know if you pay attention to Kudosprime but it looks to me like s if they are losing quite a number of players as time goes on, how long do you think they can keep giving us free DLC at that rate and where does the new money come from???

Erosion is normal for ALL e-sports games. The thing is to control this erosion, or even have some players peaks. Look Overwatch, lots of bad decisions like overpriced lootboxes and nerfed chacracters have just killed the game in more than one year. Gran Turismo Sport had surely not known that players account drop.

And trust me, paid DLC doesn't improve workforce or regular new contents. And many games work like GTS: To play Online, you just have to buy the game and a PS Plus account. That's all. That's how they make their money. And Sony have a lot of money. Most of online/e-sport games are free-to-play or have paid DLC. And don't forget many DLC are just cosmetics ones, so this type of content is not essential for Gameplay. DLC Gameplay are free for Titanfall 2, GTA Online, R6 Siege, etc... They've got only cosmectics as paid DLC.

I doubt if many people would be happy once this becomes a reality. Also, the game probably wouldn't have sold that much if not for the free content each month.

The game was so lite on content when it was released it was borderline pathetic. Because of this lack of content everything new coming out should be free to it's players if they wanted it to become successful. That still doesn't mean everything has to be free especially when there is a sticking point on how much it will costs to get one of the games most popular tracks included.
I really don't see this being a problem once everyone understands this is the only way your going to get this track.

Once a full title comes out loaded with content like previous GT titles with thousands of cars and a many track location then people would be naive to think add on content will be still remain free.

Do you have to tell me that? I never even said that the game should never stop offering free DLCs at that point. Just that many players would probably start complaining once PD starts charging for these stuff.

Just quoting your post and I never said you thought the game should stop offering free DLC. Why is it so hard for people on here to have a conversation about this game without taking stuff so personal.

Yes people are going to complain when the DLC is no longer free and like I said those people are naive if they assume this day will never come to GTS or the next GT title.
I'm ready for that day to start now so I can get the content I want instead of it never being put in the game at all because they don't want to pass that cost on to us just because people will complain about it.

These same people who complain about paid DLC likely pay $100 per month for service on a $1000 IPhone that they will stand in line for 2 days to be the first one to have it. Go figure. I recieved GTS in Dec of 2017, I feel I have gotten far more than my money's worth of entertainment from it, PD owes me nothing other than improved game saves to promise that I dont end up with a corrupted save.

Personally at this stage I think charging for updates might be reasonable (though I'd prefer to see them raise funds by releasing the game as is, on a disc)... but, I'm not sure implementing paid track DLC would work very well, it becomes more like a pay to play model. Paid car packs is easier to get around, tracks not so much.

So PD is paying for
Jimmy Broadbent said on the live broadcast Spa is coming to the game soon in a future update.

At the end of the day these FIA World Tour events are to promote the game to the audience at home. The New York event where the track debuted was still less than a month ago.
I thought Jimmy is a commentator, not an official spokesman.

I have a 150€ phone, a 300€ (now like 200€) PC, and I haven't bought a new game in a few months. I don't want paid DLCs.

Pd can continue supporting GT Sport I really dont feel the need for GT7 at all.

I do wish Battlefield 1 was still supported with free or paid dlc. Nobody asked for BFV at all.

I dont want games to turn into clothes where we play and then abandon them. So many features I want in GT Sport that would no doubt the improve the game so much.

It is a great game afterall it just needs to be better.

Paid DLC would ruin Gran Turismo. This isn't EA or Activision it's Sony's flagship driving title. Paid DLC reminds me of the bums that beg for change at intersections. It's unbecoming and embarrassing.
Unfortunately, not all people would see your point. If anything, these micro transactions aren't worth it if one doesn't tend to play the game with the content that much.

Most important is the GT Sport is a game of Kaz and PD. It is spectacular and wonderful. The content is not so important. Because everything is free! Thank you Kaz!
