Is there any update as to when this will take place? It's no biggy to me when it happens, I would just like a notice at least a few days ahead of time whenever a date gets decided.

Funny you should ask. I was originally going to suggest this coming weekend, but with the GTP Sportscar Series doing the Daytona 24H, I think next weekend is best.

Track selection:

Brands Hatch
Laguna Seca
Sonoma
Lime Rock
(Rio National/Road Atlanta/Watkins Glen/Spa Francorchamps)

I'm inclined to go with Spa, because we don't have any longer tracks in the mix. My second choice would actually be Rio, since a street circuit would be a change of pace, and four American tracks seems like too much. :P

Spa could be interesting, if tuning is allowed I foresee a mix of higher aero and maybe some will risk running lower aero for that extra speed on the Kemmel straight.

Anyway I'm going to try and paint my own car (don't laugh too hard ) so hopefully you guys don't mind if it slowly evolves throughout the series as I work out this painting stuff, but it should keep the same general theme throughout.

Alright guys, how does this Sunday sound for the first race? I wanted to post this yesterday but got bogged down. I realize we'll all have fresh new DLC to play with, so the Mazda might feel old hat.

We'll be running with the tuned setup. You're free to tune the car as you see fit, so long as you're running the same S785 parts listed in the OP. The first race will be at Laguna Seca. The rest of the season will look like this:
  • Laguna Seca
  • Lime Rock
  • Brands Hatch
  • Sonoma
  • Spa
I'll sort out the remaining details tonight. If everybody that will be taking part can post their driver numbers in here, that'd be helpful. 👍

I'll be using number 79. Looks like I'm going to be practicing and figuring out my tune today :D

I have to get a number for me yet. I'll work on that today. Something was said early on about maybe sharing a tune? I'm not really great at tuning, so I usually go and find one, but almost all the tunes I can find in s class are either stock, or at 800. And even if I did manage to find one at 785, would I be able to see the parts on it, or would that be locked? I don't want to pester anyone about it, I'm just curious is all.

Sunday? Eh, I'll be racing in another series this Sunday. At what time do you intend to start?

P.S: regardless, I am calling dibs on the number 56.

I'll share my tune either for download or open for anyone to change settings on anyway. Not a great tuner but I can usually come up with something.

I think I'll take number 21.

Is it ok if I pick 7? Or does it have to be a double digit number? I always knew those designers have major skills, but I have a new found respect for them now. It just took me about ten minutes just to figure out how to get a 7 on the front of my car.

Number 17 for me.

What time will this be starting? I have a prior commitment that evening but I'm PST so I think I'm the tail-end of timezones for this one.

@prousonhairy - I'll post my tune on here in the morning, just shut the One off for the night after a pretty long session! Single digit is fine if you prefer.

@HighSeasHoMastr - What times during the day work for you? With the 8 hours between you (and @ImaRobot) versus @VXR and @Im_Lukas, I was hoping to start not too much later than 9 or 10PM their time.

Good to see everybody still interested, we'll sort out the time today. 👍

I want to see the end of the Daytona 24, but any time after that would work for me. I think that wraps up at 12pm EST, which would be... 5pm GMT(?) Right?

Sorry, I'm super tired right now and thinking about that is not going well. I'd say if it works for them, maybe an hour after the 24 ends we could get started? Think that would make it roughly 7pm in the UK, 8 on the continent. Again, I could be totally wrong about that though.

In keeping with the more-casual theme, will we be running no damage/fuel/tire wear? I have no idea what kind of distance this thing can go and I'll need to figure that out if we'll be using full sim settings.
If that's still up for debate, I am in favor no damage, especially with this being a continent-spanning series. No one wants a viscious lag monster ruining their race...

I don't have anything to do, so whatever time is decided, I'll just work my day around that.

It'll be wrapping up at 2PM EST, so 7PM GMT, and 11AM for you. 👍

Let's say 20:00GMT then to get things started. I'll open up a room about 20min early for practice.

Yeah, no damage/fuel/tire wear. This is testing the waters, so maybe they could be taken into account in a future series, but for now, I'd rather us all be able to finish the race!

For the first race, we'll let the game just do a random start order. After this one, we can figure out other possibilities, like qualifying or using the current points standings. Speaking of, we'll use the same points as this GT6 WRS event:

1st: 20
2nd: 15
3rd: 11
4th: 8
5th: 6
6th: 5
7th: 4
8th: 3
9th: 2
10th: 1

For those that were asking about a tune, here's the rough one I ran at Lime Rock (it's very, very basic):

Tire Pressure: 29.5 / 29.0

Final Drive: 3.00
1st: 3.22
2nd: 2.25
3rd: 1.70
4th: 1.35
5th: 1.12

Camber: -3.2 / -2.0
Toe: -0.2 / -0.3
Caster: 5.0

Anti-Roll Bars: 17.94 / 11.99

Springs: 345 / 370.6
Ride Height: 1.4 / 2.3

Rebount Stiffness: 8.9 / 9.6
Bump Stiffness: 5.9 / 6.4

Downforce: 220 / 295

Brakes: Stock

Dif-Accel: 100%
Dif-Decel: 25%

Since I am new to the Formula Mazda Ciruit, I had troubles getting any sponsors to pay up, so I will be going sponsor less for the first race. Hopefully after a couple races one will step up to the plate.
I'm also debating if the "7" should be moved down closer to the front of the nose. We just need the number on the nose, right?

Okay, so 8pm GMT means I would be racing at 7am AEDT on Monday for the first race.
That's not too bad, I'll give it a go. I look forward to racing :)

I should be good for that time.

Here's the setup I came up with, I was able to run near enough identical times with a mid-high downforce setup as well but over the course of many laps was more consistent with full downforce, maybe I'll just be a sitting duck down the straights .

Upgrades:

@prousonhairy @SlipZtrEm I don't really know what is a good pace here due to us not running to 800, and only a little time to practice on Friday (I'll probably be finding my pace again during the race ). I'd try them both out and see what fits you better, especially as some of the feedback for my tunes used to be "way too loose", I tried to make them more user friendly but might still be a little out of some peoples comfort zones.

I tune mostly for understeer, and utilize engine braking most I've noticed. Here's my tune for the race.

I'm ready too. I have have a jar of Vaseline on standby just in case I need it.. I'll be happy if I don't get lapped. 👍
I'll be there in the back right alongside you. We can comment on the race going on in front of us like an episode of Mystery Science Theater 3000 or Statler and Waldorf from the Muppets.

Updated with GTPlanet logos.

What version of Lime Rock are we racing on? There are four layouts.
