I like the colour but wouldn't it look better with a (also small) GT logo printed on?

I'd definately prefer black with the GT5 logo (with colour) engraved on the top.

The on button could have 'Start Engine' written on it!

The blue fits best. :)

With the amount of pre-orders they're getting, wouldn't it have been a better move, from a marketing perspective, to announced the bundles at the same time as the game itself?

I'm referring to the North American and PAL regions here.

I don't have a PS3, I need one for GT5. I'm going to buy one second hand most likely, as the combined cost for the seperate console and the game is too much. Too bad Sony. A bundled package, the game plus the standard console for ~£270-280, I would bite their hands off.

Considering I'd have to buy a PS3 to play GT5, it's a shame this probably won't be released in the UK.

There is a way to get a Slim is a WIDE range of colors... I magically googled it.

unsure if it's up and running...

Colorware PS3 Slim

I personally think a Chocolate PS3 is actually interesting... or a Brown + Yellow logo... or a White + Red logo...

Don't count on it, we in the US still waiting for the white PS3.
Absolutely! 👍

Thats one ugly Playstation.
Referring to the blue PS3 Slim release in Japan, yes i agree with most of you!

This is an even better idea:
They need a bundle with POLYPHONY DIGITAL and Gran Turismo 5 logos on it. With maybe a signature from Kaz also! Also prefer something beside the blue, white would be better in my opinion.
EXCELLENT idea FLASH48 👍 ... IT would have been smarter of them to release with a PD/GT5 logo or insert on the Console! Would have been much more authentic, rather than simply laying a new color ....

you could even sell it for more money, and still people would buy it!

A bundle with the DFGT or G27 would have been Excellent!

$600 the whole thing: PS3 slim with GT5/PD logo, Steering wheel, game in Special edition.... this would sell like hot potatoes! Even those with PS3 in hand already would trade it in for the new one! :P

EDIT:

BEAUTIFUL: WORTH quoting!!

How is that too bad for SONY? As things stand you are buying a Collectors Edition of GT5. That alone will net them more profit than you buying a PS3 bundle with the game.

Considering the production cost of a PS3 means they're now making a healthy profit on each sale, they are still losing a bit even with a discounted bundle offer. That's if I was buying the standard version of the game...

I did change my mind about going for the standard edition, so what? :D I want the Apex book :P

They aren't. It's a profit but a small one and the PLAYSTATION division of sony is still operating at a loss.

No, they are not making a healthy profit on each PS3 sale, just a small one, which is negatively compounded when you opt to buy a bundle. Hence why SONY would be better off if you did buy a used PS3 and a copy of the CE.

I'm not having a go at you because you changed your mind Seismica, I've changed mine loads over the past couple of weeks, going back and forth over SE vs CE!!! I am now in partnership with a couple of mates who are buying GT5 and all three of us will buy one CE for ourselves, and two copies of the standard edition from one of the retailers doing the stealth promotions. We'll simply swap stealth codes and send the standard games back under distance selling rules. So, we all get all 11 cars right away for the cost of returning two games.

A mate of mine in the US is giving me his model GT-R, so I had considered getting the SE so I could have both models, but man, that's an expensive model. £90 extra just to own an orange model car I really don't like the look of...nah, forget it! Hence why I'm now only focused on getting all of the DLC cars straight away.

You may find that certain online companies email out the codes even prior to the games being dispatched. So it would be possible to then cancel the order before it shipped.

What we dont know however is if multiple codes from selected retailers can be used together or if codes issued can only be used a certain number of times? It is very probable forums like GT Planet will have a list of codes collected if indeed they work with other codes and are unlimited in how many times they are used. If this turns out to be the case then basically everyone could end up having the cars available to them from the SE.

Those Colorware finishes are cool indeed.
Like the Red with White Logo.

I would think 1 stealth code gets 1 dlc car I just hope that the ps store has the cars ready to buy on the relase day.
But seeing as my ps3 fat has just gone Ylod i was hoping that sony will release a special edition gt5 slim console in the uk (anyone know anything) I am willing to wait on spending money if there is going to be one

Wishful thinking, I've never seen a bonus code that could be used more than once.

It doesnt matter if a code can only be used once, like "Heavy Rain"
Heres a scanario, what happens if you buy a version and the code doesnt work? A staff member or someone could of noted down the code and used it.

So your likley then going to email the online store or go back to the actual store you purchased to ask for a new code. Point is they have to have spare codes.

Play.com state the following...
Cars may be made available as DLC through PSN at a later date. Codes will be emailed the week of release. Pre-order offers are subject to change at any time

If the codes are emailed then I assume the codes are not necessarily included with the disc/box. Not sure if you guys have seen other online etailers stating codes will be emailed. Pre ordering to get a code then cancelling the order is one such way people will try to gain these cars without buying the SE thats for sure.

Not sure if this has been answered before, but:

Is the book that comes with this PS3 the same as what comes with the collector's edition of GT5?

it shouldve been a black ps3 with a red GT5 logo on it instead of the PS3 logo.. imo that would be worth buying from japan and getting it shipped to my front door

That blue looks nice and blue is my favorite color anyway but the PS3 as with all systems in my opinion have always looked better in black.

I really like the look of it, however it's not too difficult to get a skin or two from decalgirl and make your Slim/Fat look like that without having to buy a new PS3.

That looks like Tomei Blue.

I like! but I already have an 80gig piano black big unit so maybe if mine tanks I jump in it!

Any chance of a US bundle? I don't own a PS3 but I'll be buying one before GT5 comes out. If there's a GT5 bundle though I'll just hold out for that.

I'm probably in the same position as you. If I do indeed decide to get a PS3, which is likely, I should probably get it 1 or 2 days before the game, because I want to explore the PS3's features a bit first, and if I have the game, it's going to be difficult not to just throw the disc in and play it before getting familiar.

However, I wouldn't mind buying a GT5/PS3 bundle, especially if it came with the 300 page booklet; that's what I really want, I couldn't care less about the silly DLC cars. I sure hope they release something like that in NA, because I'd look into getting one for sure.

The way I see it, I can buy a 120 Slim for $300, and the game for $60, and I'm considering buying the HKS controller, because I really don't feel like spending 250 + dollars for a good wheel setup. However, if a bundle comes out with GT5 and it costs less than, say $450, I'd look into it. Any more, though, and I'll probably just buy a 120 and the game separately.

Yeah same here, I thought that blue PS3 bundle was going to come to America and I was going to go with that route since I still don't own a PS3. If I do pick up the JP bundle tho is there a downside to owning a JP PS3? I got a PS2 that still works if that matters? Hmmm.... not sure if I'll like the idea of playing GT5 in Japanese... :/
