Speedster's Gallery // July-October

I must say Adam, your work has gotten so phenomenally better since you started out. The lighting and exposure on all of the images is just so good, it's something I can learn a great deal of đź‘Ť

I just hope your SG hasn't suffered from it :P

Thanks Bram I really appreciate it. Sadly the SG has suffered and is played less and less.

Because I bought a new guitar a couple of months back :P The Ibanez get's played every day for usually a couple of hours so I haven't really let back on the guitar playing. I just need to get in a band now. Thanks again for your comment. đź‘Ť

On a unrelated note I realised I missed the full set link and I've added it to the post now.

Awesome! Which Ibanez model? I just bought myself the new Fender Mustang II amplifier đź‘Ť

I bought the S420. Usually they are around ÂŁ400 but I managed to get mine for nearer ÂŁ300. I thought I posted some pictures of it here, apparently not though. If you click the image it'll take you to the set on Flickr that I did of it. It's a great guitar, while it has the typically 'metal' use although I actually don't use it for that at all :P And nice amp! I'm still running a Roland Cube 30, but it's been going a bit haywire from time to time and I've had it for ages so I'll probably upgrade next year to something a bit...better. That said I rely on my Boss Me50 for all my effects now anyway so it's not so much of a big deal.

Your pictures of racing bikes are looks outstanding. I haven't seen yet this type of collection in a racing bikes. The graphics of racing bike is very extraordinery. I want to know about the engine is how many CC and also see any other different model. The motor bike is very staylish and attractive.

Cheers! I'm afraid I don't know much about the CC's or the engine sizes of the bikes (I'm not a massive motorbike fan!) and I'm glad you like the bikes. I would say what type they are, but as I mentioned I know nothing about bikes!

These are a couple of old images (November) but I thought it would be good to update the gallery with something, even if most people have already seen them.

So yeah, here's some pictures of a Nissan GTR...

Model.

Had I not seen your 'hidden' text, I'd have asked you how you got to use such a nice studio! :P

I'm loving your motorsports photos BTW, they look very very professional and I wish I had anywhere near the same skills as you have for shooting moving subjects!

I saw those model GT-R shots a while back on flickr. Excellent stuff. #2 & #3 are definitely my favorites. I think most people wouldn't be able to tell that they aren't the real thing.

Hehe, thanks Mog. I wish I'd get the opportunity to shoot in a full studio with a car. It would be a unique experience to say the least.

I really appreciate the comment on the motorsport shots too, it's something I've become quite proud of this year especially looking back to what I was creating back in 2008. You need to get yourself down (or up for that matter) to a track and give it a go! I'm sure you'd cope fine. đź‘Ť

Thanks Old Boone, #3 is my personal favourite due to the warm tones. I really appreciate the comment so thanks! đź‘Ť

Haven't commented on your gallery in a while, so here goes:

On post 261, shots 1, 3 and 9 are by far the ones I prefer. Like I told you on facebook, especially the 9th shot really speaks to me. Love the tones, the composition and the sharpness. 3rd shot is a very high quality portrait, imho.

On the bike shots, 5 is a really great shot, even better if the bike wasn't so centered. But I really like the mood it conveys.

Studio GT-R: #5 is the one where the car looks ultra realistic to me, if it had the lighting of #4 it would be an a truly awesome shot where it would be extremely difficult to say if it was real or not. I'm also really liking the tones on the 3rd shot. đź‘Ť

Well, then, it’s been awhile since the last update and it’s been clear to see that the impact of GT5 and the off season has affected the sub-section as whole and it’s been quite some time since we’ve had any proper activity in these parts.

Anyway, last year I got really interested in motorsport (as you can probably tell) so me and some friends decided to go down to the Autosport International Show in Birmingham to kick start out motorsport year. There were several big reveals across the show including the new 2011 Lotus-Renault livery, Caterham’s new car and Radical’s new line-up along with various other little announcements.

For Christmas I got a 50mm f/1.8 and this was its first proper outing too, I found it a bit too close at times inside (as it acts as a 75mm on my smaller sensor) so I didn’t use it as much as I’d hoped. But still, I definitely want to use it again.

The shots from this set, aren’t incredible. Anyone who has been to the NEC will know about the horrific lighting and it’s generally busy causing pretty much chaos. I’ve tried to include more of the ‘art-y’ ones rather than the generic car shots, but if you want to see them (and many more) click here to see the full set. Full Set

Anyway, here we go!

New 50mm 1.8, yum. Wish I had one.

I think you've done pretty well cosidering auto show lighting is almost always hard to deal with.

I particularly like shot 4, very dark and moody and a nice angle to boot.

Cheers GPR. It's a really good lens, can't wait to use it again. The lighting at the NEC is pretty horrific, it's usually a rather orange situation, even with switching the WB to Tungsten, so it's a case of fiddling after the event with the RAW's. Glad you like #4, I've had someone else say they like that one on another forum too. đź‘Ť

I know what the lighting is like at the NEC, it's horrific! You've done well with it though, I love close ups and details of cars at shows, it's always a lot more interesting than just taking photos of the entire vehicle. I wish I'd have gone to it this year, I only live a 2 minute drive away. It was too expensive though :(

Cheers Mog, I always find that at a show my Dad wants images of the whole cars so I tend to make sure I've got time to go round the show atleast twice so then I can get a nice range of stuff to satisfy both myself and my friends. Usually waiting to the very end of the day to do the full car shots too. Less people!

It's shame you couldn't make it, I really enjoyed it and in comparison to the MPH shows I've been going to for the past 7 years or so it was vastly superior. Also, get yourself down to Cadwell Park at some point (or any track for that matter!) :P

Woah, sorry I missed these comments guys. Been away in a little world of my own.

@TheCracker I'm planning to be up there as much as possible! Infact I'm heading up there tommorrow to get some practise in on a track day before my first event of the season on the following weekend. :)

I feel bad posting in this thread without showing any images, so here's some 'revisits' that I've done recently both from the FIA GT1 World Championship in May of last year. Interestingly I've become quite inspired recently after doing a project looking at motorsport photographers so I have a couple of things I want to try and looking through my old shots I saw these and saw a little bit of potential. Anyway, enjoy!

Apologies for the double post, as I said I was off to Cadwell Park on the 12th to get back in the swing of things and trial a few new techniques. Also thoughts on the new logo would be appreciated! Here's some of the outcomes, as per usual the full set is on Flickr here. I urge you to check the whole set out, I tried a lot of things and I can't show them all here.

Enjoy!

I've got another update coming within the next few days of the slightly unexpected FIA F2 Championships at Silverstone. But more on that later, I'll leave these ones open for comments a bit longer before moving on. đź‘Ť

#7 is just so beautiful!
I would buy that Picture, and hang this over my TV.

Can I use No. 7 and No. 3 for a Signature for another Forum?

Wow Love your gallery (Astonishing work) Love the latest update as well

Cheers guys, glad you like the pictures! đź‘Ť

EmptySoul - Sure, that's no probelm at all. I'd quite like to see (out of curiousity) how they look when they are done. Also, if at all possible some credit in signatures would be nice, but not neccessarily required. :)

FIA Formula 2 & Co - Silverstone

First event of the season for me at Silverstone, it's been awhile since I've been to Silverstone and it's changed quite a bit from the last time I visited. A lot of the circuit seemed to closed off (the whole Arena section looked completely shut as well as some of the areas around Abbey). Was stuck with my parents and brother for this event without the ability to ditch them so I felt somewhat hindered in terms of running around the circuit as per usual.

On the plus side, we had some great weather and some of the racing was quite good!

I took quite a few shots and also uploaded quite a few, if you want to see more then please check out the full set here.

All really good but the last set from Silverstone are brilliant đź‘Ť Also I like the new logo.

I dig the entire set Adam. You've come leaps and bounds in improvement over time with your shots. This one in particular is totally epic:

Thanks Achilles, I really really appreciate it. It's nice to hear that people are seeing a considerable improvement to what I was shooting in previous years. Makes me feel like I'm on the right track. :)

Cheers Neal, glad you like the new logo (and the photos) I think the logo is a bit more unified with both my Blog and Twitter than my old copyright logo was. Really appreciate the comments. đź‘Ť

Just a general note, I'll have another (yes another!) motorsport update coming within the next few days as I'm off to Cadwell Park this weekend for a Historic Championship (our very own TheCracker is competing). So a busy few days for me!

Thanks again for all comments. đź‘Ť

Well, I don't think anyone can keep up with the amount of motorsport I've been doing recently. Never the less, here's another update.

This is my set from the HSCC Wolds Trophy Historic Race Meeting from the Sunday, got a bit of a mixed bag in terms of shots really. Not really happy with the set in general, tried a couple of new things here and there but don't feel like I really pushed the boat out.

That said I had a enjoyable day and saw some simply mind blowing machinery at work. For those who are interested the full set has been uploaded to Flickr (101 shots available to view) and is here.

C&C is welcome as per usual.

Also, I'm sure you'll all want to kill me by the end of year as believe it or not but I have another track day coming up tomorrow.

Busy, busy, busy.

Enjoy!

Awesome! Your composition and PP have really taken a huge leap forward, I am seriously impressed. Also given me a lot to think about this weekend.
