Thought I'd share with you guys because it somewhat relates, and some of you asked for pics.
So today I got the chance to finally visit Laguna Seca. I live a whole 1.5/2 hours from the track and have never been. I'm fortunate to have such an amazing brother-in-law who has a passion for racing and works for an amazing company who sponsors track days as "Team Building Exercises." (I KNOW RIGHT!?!)
If you guys ever do a track day... do one with Hooked on Driving, they do track days all over the country. Great instructors!!!

Long blerb or just skip to pics. Not really in any order, but scope em out. I have some video which I might upload if I can figure out what I want to do with it.
The Track:
It was an amazingly beautiful day in Central California, and even in the current drought, there was some lovely green on the hillsides. Between sessions and around lunch I trekked around the property to pretty much everywhere except the corkscrew. It was a hike over a big ass hill and I didn't want to miss a seat.
You enter the paddock over the bridge between turns 5&6. We were fortunate to have the whole damn place, garages and all for the most part. And being a company outing, it was not cramped at all.
As you would expect it runs MUCH faster than in the game. The straights seem shorter and the corners seem wider. Yes, the corkscrew is
crazy steep. Amazingly not one car went off at the corkscrew, turns 1-3 were the culprits there.
There is a 90db limit on the track. A sound booth between turns 5&6 will register cars over the limit and send to the steward to black flag the car. Basically they tell you to ease up coming out of 5 past the mic, pretty simple.
The Cars:
First off I didn't drive anything as I'm not an employee and I have a feeling the organizers have seen my GT6 replays
...
Maybe 40-50 cars total, I'm bad at judging though. About 10-15 cars per class (A-Beginner, B-Intermediate, C-Advanced).
I got to ride in:
- C6 Z06 (B Class)
- M3 (C Class)
- 2015 911 GT3 (C Class)
About 20-30 minute sessions, and all the dudes are brilliant drivers. Even the guy with the Brand-Spanking-New GT3, who is obviously still in the "break-in" phase, had it going. I've ridden with him in his GT-R before and he can destroy tarmac like no other, so I can't wait to get a seat in his
seasoned GT3 in the future.
The M3 was a little squirrelly coming out of the corkscrew, but since the driver was pro, just went on our way. But the excitement was real!!
And the Vette was the fastest of the day. Love that car, fresh tires and that thing is an absolute monster. I kept expecting the ass to kick out... but it never did, totally planted.
All in all, the sunburn on my neck was well worth it!!
