where's everyone???
I did a few laps today.
Did GT Academy Round 1 on the Bridge PS3, I'd already done it on the Mallet one.
Got both machines up to 5 day login bonus using the time zone trick.
Even did a couple of quick matches at Bathurst, I'd never bothered with quick match before.
Then jumped into @gkgamer's room at the Nürburgring. My DS3 turned itself off during my 2nd lap.
It does all seem quiet out there.

Hi Fellas,
Spinning Arrows has been invited once again to join the world stage and compete in another large event. This is a kart racing series aimed to compliment the endurance races. Please let me know if you would be interested so I can pass along your info but in the meantime, have a look at the following info and links:

"At the end of last month, Jordan announced the launch of the GTPlanet Karting Series. This project has been under development for some time and has come to fruition thanks to the success of the GTPlanet Endurance Series."

"Our aim is to cater to all timezones by holding Heats at various times of day for each Race Meeting."

"We are also welcoming drivers of all abilities by using the 4 classes of karts in GT6. There will be a Pre-Season Trial Weekend on the 16th and 17th of May. To help sort driver into the various classes."

Thanks,
T

Hey guys, me again. I've got an update for you all on the GT1 night planned for Friday Night at 8 pm Eastern.

The Nomad Diablo car was a bit too snaky in the corners and a bit slow on the straights, so to remedy this I have allowed the car to now have 730 HP and an extra 25 kg of weight must be carried, bringing total weight of the car to 1225 kg. So to put these stats closer together for the Nomad Diablo 730 HP 1225 kg, Performance points should be around the 625 area.

Another thing to address is the time between races. Each one should take about 15 to 20ish minutes to complete, but I haven't seen much talk of prep for this so I'm going to allow 10 minutes between races to get any last minute changes in that you may need to make.

Room Location will be the Spinning Arrows club only lobby, no blue lobbies here, just green flag racing. Please ensure that if you are planning to participate in the event that you are a club member, seems trivial but I've seen it happen before with some other events.

Finally qualifying, there will be sessions for each race at 5 minutes each. I know you're thinking, but what about Nurburgring, it's too long. Ahh but that's the point my friends, you must run an all out assault on the track in order to take the pole. When the checkers drop on that session the adrenaline will be high and you must calm yourself to get a good start to the race.

Just a fair warning, I have invited the guys from my racing series to join us and they're generally on par with you guys for speed. So hopefully we have a nicely sized field for the night.

Last second FYI, the points standings will be announced between each race following the second race so everyone knows where they stand.

Same as me sometimes
Disconnect from servo, can't get in,
waiting to get in and freeze up screen

The Polyphony/Sony business model seems to be "How Can We Pi$$ You Off Today?" Constant disconnects, failed "matching," and start timers that slowly wind down to zero, only to reset to another 4 or 5 minutes -- twice! (Who are we all waiting for?) By then, 2/3 of the people have bailed out, or been bounced because they didn't wiggle the controls every few seconds (known as "inactivity"). (BTW - lobby racing works fine, always, so it's a Polyphony server issue.) Do they think this stuff up?

There's only a small chance that I can be on at the time. If I am, I'll hop in. 👍

In a similar answer to the one above, I don't know when I can be on at the moment. Hopefully I'll at least be able to help out by practicing with the team. I haven't done any karts for a while.

It sounds like this link has some of what you're talking about. 👍

If you're trying to blame PD for their crappy servers, unfortunately you're out of luck. PD only does the matching, and you're actually connecting to a host they've designated for that quick match lobby, usually the user that's number one on the list. I have seen some conversations that explain how online racing works on the network side and it is actually a PS3 to PS3 connection, the person of knowledge (GTP_PASM I believe it was) said that if we all had to connect to PD for online lobbies we would get latency in the amount of several seconds, not just fractions of them. So it looks like the people you're really after are the randoms that play GT for fun, which QM was set up to be for, on connections that have utterly terrible download and upload speeds. The timers you complain about are for these same randoms who don't ever play and desperately need to practice on track before the race starts.

Quick Match was not meant to be for serious GT players by any stretch, it's a gateway PD is trying to create for the very casual player to become a more serious player. Serious GT players should have some patience and thank PD for doing this because it reduces the number of smashers in proper lobbies so more serious racing can be done.

I had to Google it but I'll take some cake. :)

Hmmmm, googled my cake question. I may have to retract the cake but since you did pitch in for my new shoes, I'll be forgiving.
Cake for all!!!

Silly question my friend. it's casual night. Beer is almost required.
If of course you're referring to the kart racing series then I have no answer for that, although I would assume it is since you will be racing from your couch.
As you guys know cuz of school and the time zone I live in, I can't join the Casual Nights :( But, even if I could, I would not be able to fulfill the beer requirement, as drinking is illegal for 11 year olds and other underage people :P

We need to race one of these days! None of us had the pleasure to race with you....
How about tomorrow at this time?
I could race with you for an hour just for fun Before I go to work

That is why their servers suck. How can it be that every other sim and all big esport titles are run on their own servers with pings under 30ms and PD and Sony are not able to do it at all but lay it in the hands of their customer to save money which of course sucks. I needed to change router setting to all of my friends here in Germany so they can play the game online. They can not do it by themself because the dont have the Know-how

The problem with PD and servers is their total profit out of the year is a little over $83000 US. I don't know how much servers cost but I'm willing to bet that in order to service the entire world on their own servers they're going to have to spend some heck of a lot more than that. They put so much into physics and modelling that the online portion turns into a bit of an afterthought. Quite honestly I'd much rather have the better driving game than something that drives like Forza but with better online service. I have a whole thing on features that Forza has that GT should have but that's a whole different conversation. My point though is that they probably just don't have enough in the bank to get all of their own servers to service us, which leads to why doesn't Sony get the servers for them since PD only make games that work on Sony products. Well Sony is a bit of a flawed corporation and clearly don't see a need to help out an exclusive studio to them, but maybe they will for 7, who knows.

Almost forgot about this. :banghead: Thanks for the reminder.:gtpflag:

:cool:Good news fellow racers. Spinning Arrows Club (or SAC) will be bringing back the world tours starting at the end of the month:eek:. While still keeping with our casual roots, we will be hosting a sort of mini endurance series. So taking place of the casual races on May 28th will be a tour of Europe. This will include a 525PP European production street car with 10 lap races around 5 separate European tracks. The car restrictions are minimal and limited to PP to stay in line with the casual races as we will not be dealing with tire wear, etc. (not yet anyway).
So get your cars prepped for the 28th and be ready for:
1. Monaco
2. Nurburgring GP/F
3. Apricot Hill
4. Rome
5. Red Bull Ring

This is not the set order of races for the evening and since tire wear, etc. is not an issue, if time permits, we may end up increasing a track or two to 15 laps.

Also, I will be posting the normal casual night agenda for tomorrow shortly on page 1.
