Spintires: Mudrunner/snowrunner

Im waiting to see if you can totally remove the hud etc this time....and stop the time cycling before getting this one...

HUD can be turned off... but it seems like you cannot manually change gears if HUD is off.

The controls are a little wonky still but overall it seems really enjoyable and way more of a game than Mudrunner was.

Just got my copy and have played for a few. Not stoked with the performance on the PS4 Pro. At times it's almost like playing in slow motion and any time the camera seems to get behind heavy foilage things start stuttering pretty bad. Speaking of camera there doesn't seem to be the option for the original camera which is a pretty big let down for me. There are 4 control schemes and some other control options but I haven't found one that is as fluid as Mudrunner is. No supported wheels on the console which isn't a surprise as I read this in a Q&A a few days ago. Considering there was no ffb on PS4 in Mudrunner and they never implemented it I have doubts they'll do so for Snowrunner. I'm still in the air on the physics. There definitely seems to be some improvement in areas while changes in other areas that I don't like. Vehicle upgrades may resolve the issues I have. I'm sure I'll come around to it all after more play time. I'm generally pretty hard on sequel games and Mudrunner for me was a really good first experience of the Spintires games.

Edit: Updating fixed the framerate issue and I don't know what the heck I was talking about with the physics because they're great!

I struggle to run this with everything maxed on PC even with an i7-8700K and 2080Ti. I need to drop AA down to get a consistent 60 fps, so it's definitely a demanding game. There is an option in the settings on PC to use the original camera.

I haven't played a great deal of Mudrunner so maybe I'm not as familiar with it compared to you but I find Snowrunner a step in pretty much every department. I'm really liking what I see so far.

I just need to give it more time. The frame rate issue is my main gripe as it really hurts playability but I'm sure a fix will be coming or maybe it's already out. I'm playing on the disc version and I don't have internet so no updates have been installed. It really does look great though when it's running smooth.

Just spent some time getting familiar with the ck1500 on the road and I'm enjoying it more. Looking forward to seeing how upgrades change the handling and capabilities.

Noticed that in the leaked videos, hopefully they'll be able to fix it... I'm on One X and the game looks and runs quite a bit better than Mudrunner, something I did not expect.

I was very impatient and started playing the game while the day one patch was downloading on my PS4. I experienced some pretty major slowdowns during some parts and regular frame rate issues. The update fixed them though.

Just some heads-up : I made quite a bit of progress in career mode before restarting the game with the day one patch installed. My previous save became incompatible with the now updated game and had to restart & redo everything.

I didn't play Mudrunner but decided to buy Snowrunner for PS4 after randomly coming across it on YouTube. The total lack of recognition of my wheel (Thrustmaster T150) was rather disappointing, but after playing for about an hour and a half I'm actually fine with playing it on a controller so far, as it can feel like slightly more of a puzzle game than a driving game. For that reason I also use 3rd person view most of the time, with liberal use of camera rotation.
Took a while to get used to - still haven't gotten used to actually - steering not automatically going back to straight when centering the thumbstick.

It's a beautiful game and though I can see others mention framerate problems on PS4 (Pro) I honestly haven't noticed the issue yet. If there have been drops below 30 fps I guess the game is simply slow paced enough that it hasn't caught my attention. And framerate issues is certainly something I do notice in more fast paced games.

Really liking it so far, and I've not even scratched the surface yet in the 90 minutes I've played. Ran the first contract, unlocked the first garage, found a couple of upgrades and trucks, visited two watchtowers.

I was able to use my phone and download the 7.5gb update which seemed to have resolved the framerate issues and I've noticed a few other positive changes. It did say something about my save not being compatible but I was able to continue playing it so not sure what's up with that.

Anyway, I'm enjoying it much more now. Upgraded the tires on the Scout and lifted the Chevy. Good stuff.

Hopefully the patch will sort the frame rate issues. Did you find the option to use original cameras?

It never let me continue with my previous save for whatever reason but I happily did them again so no issues in the end. I did however notice some of the terrain around the map (Black River) actually being far more forgiving/easier after the update.

Gotta' say, I'm loving the vibrant color palette compared to Mudrunner, not to mention the drawing distances and the occasional rain. It truly raises the game's overall atmosphere.

Been loving it so far. Got the Hummer H2 now, too.

Hoping the DLC adds more rugged SUVs like the 90s Land Cruiser or early Disco/Range Rover for something a bit different to those in game already. Maybe even an F150 Raptor for a bit more pace.

Where do you see the tasks at? I went to the tab on the map labeled "Tasks" but it's empty.

Is there a way to filter out things on the map? I can’t find an option. It just looks way too busy most of the time.

Yeah, you're right. Don't think there's a filter though. I really like this game but some aspects of the menu/interface are a bit clunky. I still haven't figured how to use the garage yet.

So just a heads up since I actually heard from one of the developers. If your tasks are missing, make sure you've completed the tutorial. If you want to skip the tutorial, you can do so through the settings menu while in the game.

Just checking on psn for snowrunner and notice they are fast to put extra vehicles dlc lol, seems they were ready already and could just have been on the base game. Oh well..

I purchased Snowrunner on impulse because I came across a few convincing reviews, and figured it wouldn't hurt to try something different for once. So far I cannot tell whether it's something I'll keep coming back to, but there doesn't appear to be a shortage of alluring content.

On a technical level it feels a bit rough around the edges. After just a few hours of playing I experienced a mid-autosave crash corrupting my save data. Fortunately there was a fresh backup save file, but an error like that is not too reassuring. Let's see how it goes.

Just started playing this on ps4 pro...

Couple of questions before i get rid and sell it...

How do you remove the hud, there`s no options to remove everything....
my bad just found it, had it set to off thinking it was off..duh

and this and motogp 20 are making my ps4 pro fan sound like a blooming hair dryer....terrible, can see me selling both these now, awful that...

Finally got my copy yesterday, and enjoying it so far. I've finished the tutorial, and a few tasks, but spent a good bit of time looking for upgrades and vehicles.

The only negatives is the PS4 Pro fan gets a work out, and the steering is still lazy like it was in Mudrunner. Fine when you're going slow, but any speed and I'm constantly behind on steering, so I end up swerving back and forth, til I just stop, and start going again.
