Historic content - my first impressions

liveries
Porsche 917 LH = 3 (17/18/21)
Porsche 924 GTP = 5 (2/3/4/11/12)
Porsche 961 = 2 (203/203b) I couldn't spot the difference
Ferrari 512M = 16 (4/22/22/12/3/15/142/6/11/6/7/7/10/60/9/16)
Ferrari 512S = 8 (5/6/7/8/11/12/14/15)

Driving Impressions - default settings with wheel
I used the Silverstone Classic circuit as I know it well, with a same class field in custom race, cockpit view, no driving aids.

Porsche 924 GTP (Group 4) - fair sound, enjoyable, but very slow compared to the BMW M1 - the AI were 4 seconds a lap slower in the Porsche than the BMW. It could be a great car for a Host to use for a one make series, but with only 5 liveries this is not really possible. It is too slow to fit with the BMW M1 - I will test it against the 911 2.8 RSR and Ferrari Daytona and other cars - maybe I can find a better match as it is enjoyable and I would like to host a series which includes it.

Porsche 961 (GTO) - nice sound, but like many of the sounds in PC2, rather quiet. Very enjoyable and interesting handling - I definitely will spend a lot more time with this car in custom race. It was matched mainly against Mustangs which from memory are 1997, plus a Lamborghini. Sadly only 1 livery (it shows 2, but I couldn't see a difference). Handling interesting enough that it could make a good one make car for a Host, but not really feasible with only one livery - difficult to believe that SMS couldn't have twisted Porsche's arm enough to allow some fantasy liveries on these two cars. They are pleasant enough cars to drive, but they don't seem to fit into the current car list so would have been better grouped on their own and with multiple liveries.

Personally I would upgrade the BMW M1in the game to Group 5 spec - it raced in Group 5 with a higher downforce package and more power - then focus on adding more cars to Group 5 and forget about Group 4. There are some interesting cars which could be added to Group 4, but most are from manufacturers that SMS does not have a license for and a lot were from earlier years than the Porsche 924 and BMW M1.

Overall these two cars were a bit of a disappointment - SMS used up 2 Le Mans pack slots for a couple of cars with very few liveries which don't fit well into the game.

Porsche 917LH - Wow! I wasn't expecting much - I really enjoy the 917K, but in real life the 917LH was a very tricky car, but in the game it is excellent! Good sound, lively, enjoyable handling - my mood picked up dramatically with this one!

Ferrari 512M - Another Wow! - Superb!

Ferrari 512S - Another Wow! Another Bullseye! Well done SMS!

These three cars (and the Porsche 917K from the Porsche pack) really are superb - they drive brilliantly on default settings - I can't wait to race them online with friends. They are from the golden age of endurance racing, when this category was still all about the racing and before fuel consumption became an increasingly strong feature.

I only did one lap on the Vintage le Mans track - I picked the Ferrari 512S and was able to hit 230mph on the Mulsanne - the kink was realistically scary! The track really is superb! SMS have done a great job with this track and these 3 cars (plus the 917K from the previous pack) - many happy hours of gaming will follow.

Overall - great pack! well worth the money! well done SMS and thank you @IanBell

Probably because the 512M's first race was Austria 1970.

Possibly, but it's still a bit odd. For example, the Porsche 962C LH in PC2 is based on the 1988 Le Mans entry and is also listed by that year in-game. However, you could argue that the 962C LH drove its first race in 1986. No big deal though.

Didn't know that. I guess you learn something new everyday.

The naming conventions and model years are all in the hands of the license holders. So my bet would be that Ferrari told them which name SMS had to use.

Still not available in the US or I'm missing something

It's a separate download from the update right? I've only received the update

Im in the UK and no DLC?
I believe it is there for you because I have a separate European account (I never use it but created it a few years ago to get PES demo a few days earlier than it was available in the US) and I just checked it to see that DLC is available

Edit: you know what, I can't remember what region I used when I made that account. I thought it was Europe but it may have been Asia

Go to PSN and search for Project Cars - it will be in the list. If you have the Season Pass click on the pack and select download.

Having done a lot of testing with the Porsche 924 I have concluded that it definitely doesn't fit (performance wise) with the BMW M1. It fits nicely with the cars in Historic GTA - it is a bit slower than the Jaguar E Type V12 and very similar to the Ferrari Daytona and Porsche 911. I tested at Sugo, Brands Hatch GP, Spa Historic and Silverstone Classic.

This car would be best in either its own class so you can add it to whichever class you want via the multi-class option - alternatively SMS could add it to Historic GTA with the other sports cars and ideally move the Camaro and Mustang into GTB with the other saloons. It is great fun to drive, but please SMS / @IanBell put it in a seperate class or with the Ferrari Daytona and Porsche 911.

I'm on PC and its not in Steam store yet -.-

Are you sure you used the hybrid at all? You have to deploy it manually in the 2016 cars.

Yeah I used it in 2 places, Wellington Straight and Hangar Straight. Unless you're supposed to burst it out of corners occasionally instead of laying down on the button until it depletes.

In preparation of the 'Spirit of Le Mans' my son and I visited local museum (Louwman in The Hague) today. If you some day have the opportunity to visit this car museum I can highly recommend it for the classic car lovers.

Best way to come in the right mood for this DLC

PS Apologies for the poor photo quality. My son, who has a brand new smartphone, refused to take pics. So Sr daddy had to do it with a Samsung 0.1 ;)

For X Box One users

Go to manage game and it should in ready to install.

That's if you have the Season Pass.
Does that mean if we purchased the Deluxe edition with season pass included, we don't have to pay for this?

I'm on PS4

Hasn't happened to me yet. I can see the DLC in the store but it's not downloading as part of the Season Pass, which I already own.

Mine showed up at midnight (Eastern US). It was an available download, and all I had to do was install it. I have the season pass and this is on XBox.
