There has been a lot said in the past about the lack of people who have purchased this game, but do not or have not played sport mode, which is the main point of the game, IMO. So I'm wondering if people don't play it because they rather play against AI, or is it because they do not have PS plus, therefor, they cannot participate. Sometimes I wish that Sony would allow people to participate in online games without PS plus, especially games where the main content of the game is online. I wonder how many more active players we would have.

What if Sony and PD would say, if you don't have PS plus, you can still participate in sport mode (races A, B, & C), but you cannot do FIA races or lobby races. It could help increase the overall population of sport mode, rectifying matchmaking issues, plus it could incentivise people to get PS plus once they are hooked on online racing and want to get more serious with it

I don't pay for ps+ because I think it's a scam, I don't even own a ps4. I do own a copy of the game and I play it at a friends house with his ps4 and on his account, he doesn't even mind my makeshift rig setup there.

Lucky me I guess.

Why the short sighted-ness? Even before i was playing 'online' games i thought PSN+ was brilliant value.
This was more true in the earlier years when i would get free AAA games for free regularly but it still happens now.
It had certainly paid itself off quickly and i have a list of games that grows.

I am still surprised when people look at a game first then see the PSN+ addition rather than PSN+ as a service in its own right.

You do not need PS plus for fortnite, and it's online only, so it is a valid arugment

Read what I said. There is no online game you can buy with free online (as far as I know). Fortnite is a free game.

I live off a very small grad student stipend, and I can still save up once a year for psplus. Idk why this is such a big deal for people

I pay for PS+ because I race online in “Lobby” mode where I can race with like-minded drivers

I didn’t ever try Sport Mode because it was obvious that there’d be immature dive-bombers to contend with, and that’s not my scene

I only use it for GT, I don't care about the psn store or anything else it has to offer. PD servers are not so great and never have been, I have no intention of paying Sony to access them. Maybe I never forgot the long ass shutdown and Sony's lies to congress.

I don't pay for any gaming service and probably never will but that's just me, I'm not trying to influence anyone else or take away from what you enjoy. Like I said, I'm just lucky I guess.

I used to live in the States a long time ago. I remember in 1989, Nintendo game cartridges cost $50 a piece. It's 2018 and you guys are paying $60 per game and you can play with just about anyone in the country or world if you wanted to for a little bit more with PS+. Do you have any idea what it costs to make games or maintain servers nowadays? #FirstWorldProblem

And ps1 and ps2 games were far less, $60 a game now is a good deal for sure. I have no idea what it costs to make a game or maintain servers for that game but I do know I will not pay for psn+.

I've been rather fortunate in that I haven't needed to buy PS+ since I started playing the game, but to be honest I don't think I'd want to pay for it if/when I'm required to!

You can play Golf Club and Golf Club 2 online, those are paid games, but do not require PS+ to work.

Apparently, GT5 cost $60 million to produce. If you're doing ok without PS+, good for you. I'm just saying I think we have it good for what it costs them to make.

Lucky you? You know that comes off as really cheap and selfish don't you?

Not really no.

I treat my friends very well, I'm not cheap by any means. By lucky I mean I've been afforded many luxuries in my life and if a friend wants to repay me, or actually, would like to see me playing GT again, well that is what it is. I do make a stand against paying for online gaming and that is my choice.

I am a lucky man in many regards.

I play 95% in Sport Mode, because here you can do really great and clean races. Driving School and Track Experience is nice nut but not hard. And the Campaign against the AI is crap too :D But the worst thing are the Lobby Races, if you don't have a crew with very good drivers. When im playing Lobby (mostly less than a hour/week) with randoms, it makes no really fun, because im winning every race because not many good drivers races in the lobbies too :( So yes, Sport Mode is the only Part of the game for me that has thrill and action and it is the only with competetive drivers (excpet FIA which i don't play a.t.m.)

There is no connection between PD servers/game and PS Plus sub.
Most games in PS4 need a PS Plus to be used online (PvP).Those money do not go to GTS servers or any other -dedicaded or not- title servers.
It would seem wierd if part of "Sport mode" would be open to people without PS+.For sure other developers would make it an issue of it if SONY made a decision to make GTS "Ps Plus" free while their titles are not, especially considering that PD is owned by SONY.That could be an "Unfair Business Practices Act" and could potentially create huge problems for SONY,at least with those other developers.

Back in 2013 Shuhei Yoshida explained:
"The main pillar for the PS4 will be online play. We're developing many new ways to play and connect which requires a large investment of resources,"
"Considering the cost, to try to keep such a service free and consequently lower the quality would be absurd. We decided that if that's the case, then it would be better to receive proper payment and continue to offer a good service."
In sort it is not happening.

Yet those are the servers we are playing on.

How much does it cost in investment and resources to redirect a device to a PD server?

Hey you are back -quoting me-.
Anyway with PS Plus you pay for an SONY -online- service.
That has nothing to do with GTS or any other game.I think its clear.

I'm pretty sure I understand that, your post does not respond to what I said however. Did you read it?

Here I will phrase a question for you, Why should I pay money to support psn+ if it does nothing for the GTS servers I'm accessing to play?

Aargh, see above.

Seriously by your statement accessing PD servers has nothing to do with Sony yet you think I should pay for PSN+ why exactly?

I don't know how it all works, but does PS+ (i.e Sony) not provide the platform to connect players who then race on the PD Gran Turismo servers?

I don't get the whining about PS plus cost.. Skip a night out and you've paid it for a year.

Any game I play - the moment I go online I just can't go back to singleplayer.. Multiplayer is just so much more.

Like I said mate: PS plus is a "fee" you pay to SONY in order to access online PS4 servises. That has nothing to do with the cost of any game in PS4 platform.

Pretty much yes.But that platform is for created for every game, not just GTS.Thats why PS + in not in direct link with GTS servers.
