Has anyone built up a sports tuned car? For sports racing. My friends and I do it for the fun of it. So that each car is evenly matched. Since buying everything for the car then tuning it, it really isn't that fair.

That includes the following:

Sports Muffler
Sports Flywheel
Sports Clutch
Sports Tires
Stock Brakes
Stock LSD
Stock Tranny
No Racing Chip
No Port and Polish
No Displacement
No NA upgrade
No Engine Balance
No Turbo Upgrade (depends on car HP)
No IC Upgrade (depends on car HP)
Best Suspension Upgrade (Is a must)
Stage 1 Light Weight Reduction
Stock VCD (if AWD)
Driving AIDS OFF

This sounds fun. I wish i had someone I could race against. I'd do a Mustang vs. Camaro or Evo vs. WRX!

Yeah we do this before a Halo night or days when we can't head out to the touge. YES, we have a touge (ran like 47sec) short but fun and dangerous.

It's quite fun since all the cars are evenly tuned, well most of them. We'll have like FWD/RWD/AWD nights but it's mostly favorite cars.

A couple years ago I lived in a house with 2 guys and 2 girls. This one guy named Dave & I lived in rooms next to each other and after 3 months one day I casually said I'm gonna go race, I've got this videogame called Gran Turismo 2 and he was like aww, I love that game! Turns out all this time he was a total freak...whenever I wasn't home he would borrow my game for hours just so he could hone his skills. I was better than him, see. But he got better. And we used to do all kinds of races...everything from Cappucino vs. Mazda Az1 to Mugen Accord vs. Honda Accord (soccer mom race) to rallies (Ford Rs200 vs. Opel Ice).

But our best, most famous racing was when I was in my Viper GTS (fully loaded) and he was challenging me in a Kure Skyline. He couldn't control Vipers at all, so I suggested he get a 4WD Skyline. Then it was all over...we were almost always evenly matched! We even had a girl come over...we called her the Skirt in the Dirt because she kicked ass on rally tracks but couldn't drive hardly at all on tarmac. Those were the days! :)

Hehe. RWD battle, the guys can't keep up with my Miata, they would pass me on the straights but in the corners. I just use light braking, sometimes I don't even have to brake, then I overtake them.

AWD, I think those guys are cheating with their Skyline. It accel faster, rev faster. Hopefully they didn't purchase port and polish, engine management and buy racing drivetrain parts.

Too bad GT3/4 doesn't have online play.

Hey PB, are the 'Skirt in the Dirt' or 'Dave' on GTP at all?

No. Last I heard, Dave fell in love at Burning Man and moved to Arizona. SITD (her real name was Suzie)? I don't know. I haven't seen her in over a year. I don't live on the west coast anymore. She was a redhead; I had a mild crush on her but it woulda never worked...she was like 12 years younger than I.

Naw, he wasn't cheating. He just wasn't as good with throttle control as I was! I taught him how to use Analog stix for gas & brake and it improved his game, he wasn't flooring it and spinning anymore, but he simply couldn't control a 700 hp 2wd as well as I.

I agree...I hope GT5 has online play and damage....so does a million others.

*DROOLS* I just can't wait till GT5 comes out. I'm not sure what will be on it but hopefully they don't sacrafice body kits over physics. A lot of people wanted body kits but then some cars do come with body kits and actually you are giving the car body kits. Like the weight reduction, you are replacing the body parts with lighter materials.

Parnelli Bone - Yeah it's just like this guy I'm trying to teach how to play GT4. I keep telling him, use the brake, brake before you reach the turn. Instead of braking he stays on the throttle and goes FULL THROTTLE into the turn and into the wall. Then he says that it's just too hard.

My little brother that is 9yrs old right now. I asked my lil bro if he would like to start a new file but I also tested him to see how good he is. We started off with STOCK cars, he just loves the RUF and me and my Impreza Spec C. He stunk on the first 3-5 games but then after that he could drive like me!!!! NOOOOOOOOOOO...hahaha sometimes if I pick the wrong tires he would beat me. Even if I try to preserve my tires he's going faster than me. But yeah he's almost at my level. Now I just gotta teach him GO-KARTING!

I haven't even bought GT4 yet...I'm only about halfway thru GT3 matter of fact. I'm an explorer and leave no stone unturned...so if I bought GT4 last year I woulda been curious about what's on 3. Kinda confusing.

Ha ha, I can remember telling Dave the same thing all the time. We'd be flying neck and neck down Grand Valley straight and I would have to tell him BRAKE NOW! because wanted him not to mess up. Racing is so much better when you've got even competition. Last summer my nephew was visiting for awhile and we did some GT2 2-player stuff. :) Of course i was way better than him so to even up the competition, I got behind the wheel of a Daihatsu Midget and he was in a '99 Mercury Cougar! this was at Red Rock Speedway (see The Turtle and the Hare thread in the GT2 forum) Believe it or not, I almost won because even tho he was faster than me, he kept running off into the grass while my cornering was perfect.

It's kinda hard for me since the guys I play with does circuit racing around the spring/summer time, then there are the drag racers, it's all about Civics, Civics, Civics. They do okay in crircuit runs but drag they have their own little ways. As a matter of fact I even have a different memory cards for Sports Tuned Cars, Drift Cars, Fine Tuned Cars and such.

Yeah me too..I got 4 GT3 memory cards and 9 GT2 cards...each one is categorized towards an imaginary driver: one's got mostly muscle cars, another is geared towards ricemobiles, another is a republican family that has wagons, luxury sedans, etc.

I just did the Amateur World Championship (the first one) 10 races--5 laps each. I like to qualify & watch most of the replays so it took almost all afternoon...not to mention I have 3 other GT3 games going at once. Now you can see why I'm only halfway thru the game!

That is just too much work. I just copy my file, sell, sell, sell all the cars I don't need. Then buy new cars and tune it from there.

I wonder if there is anyone else on here that does this?

Too bad you lost contact with them both. But you never know, they could be logged on under a different name and one day they will spring a surprise on you. 12 years, what age was she? 4 !!!!!

4??? No way Holmes!! She was like 25...I was 37. They're not on here trust me. Dave and Suzie have no idea what a freak I am about GT; They know nothing about my GT website or anything! They both have a pic up on Tribe.net (I'm on there too, but i'ts been ages since I visited that site).

Vision: yeah I sell a lot of cars, too. GT3 is a lot more expensive to get thru if you don't cheat and even the first 2 licences don't give you very much money if you get all gold and sell the cars (unlike GT2). You really have to pay attention to what parts you get for your cars early on, because if you start putting money & parts into a car and later on you wind up not needing it...that's A LOT of credits you've wasted.
