First of all @Vule sad to see you leave, if only temporary, but perfectly understandable of course. I wish you all the best and will remain forever thankful for the tip with the brake pedal springs ;)

I spent the last 60 minutes with what is by now a typical Thursday evening routine: trying the new TT for „just a few laps“ before I would „go back“ to the old one, only to get completely hooked on the shiny new thing, even if that thing is an EV that weighs what feels like three tons 🤣

And this one was especially deceiving. Got gold in the very first lap (really the only difficulty was finding the brake markers, and that‘s trivial if you follow a ghost with brake lights). Then got down to 1:27.6 in lap 3 already with a 1:03.7 S2 split. Little did I know I would spend the next 25 laps cursing the wildly inconsistent track limits for turns 3 and 4 and getting nowhere even close to that time again.

Luckily I could finish the session with a happy end.

This one already felt close to optimal in the first two sectors, but I lost some time in the chicane and the final corner. So getting below 1:37 should be possible and it’s what I‘m aiming for.

That @Gomario JSP is able to pull that off sitting on the couch behind his laptop is … astounding 🤣

Edit: oh yeah, forgot to mention: I mapped the overtake button to the right paddle since I don‘t need to shift anyway. Worked really well for me.

My dear fellow racers and friends, it turns out the (ruined) Testarossa time trial is the last one I will be doing, at least in the forseable future. Life got in the way, since I started my private business and didn't rent any office space, I've been working from home, but the need for extra room, extra desk, computers, printers etc unfortunately surpases my available space, and I had to dismantle my whole rig today.

At the same time I'm happy and sad, happy because in the last couple of months I've been pushing myself to drive, I didn't do much except time trials, and to be completely honest, it's a relief to take a (probably) very big break, I just lost the "spark", it got a bit boring and stale.

I'm sad of course because I'm sure I will miss it at some point, and I'll miss the competition here, chasing thousands and exchanging fastest laps with some of the resident aliens here. I won't be selling my equipment, I just packed it all away and stored it in the basement, it will be waiting for me when I decide the time is right. Maybe 6 months, maybe more, maybe for GT8... Who knows...

I want to take this opportunity to thank every single member of this forum that I had an interaction with, I won't be tagging anyone because there are so many of you and I'm sure I'll forget someone. I learned so much and created so many new "friendships" if you can call it that, this community elevated my hobby to a whole new level, my hobby that kept me sane and helped me clear my mind after long working days, family challenges and all of the daily struggles for the past 3 years.

I will be following the forum for sure, maybe doing some weekly challenge races on the DualSense, but for any competitive stuff - that will have to wait a bit.

Best of luck to all of you in all the upcoming challenges and trials  :gtpflag:
Vule'll be back :sly::dopey:.

Best of luck with your venture! Been a pleasure having you push me over the couple of months and I look forward to the day you take the gear back out of hiding. I can't believe you're leaving me to hang out with... that guy @Dan_Tes

On other notes I've been curious, does your TT pace transfer to race pace at all? Mine does not due to a lack of consistency and can't help if I'm wondering up the wrong tree by trying so hard to be fast on one lap.

I don‘t do a lot of (sport mode) racing, but when I do I am pretty mediocre, and what you say about consistency makes perfect sense to me. All this time trialing has certainly improved my skills, but it also conditioned my brain to crank the risk / reward knob to 11, and that‘s not really helpful in a race 🤣

That and the need to react to what other players do of course.

This is really interesting as most of my time is Sport mode, and TT challenges have definitely helped my times and car control but racing other people and sharing space and making mistakes are a different type of skill to time attacks. One isn't better or worse than the other but just different dynamics

It's a joy when you aren't trying to push it to the limit.
It's a joy if I win gold [or PD changes credit payouts so we'll get 2mill for bronze or silver which will never happen] but since I'll never have been marginally close to gold it's always very boring for me to do any of the online time trials.

After a couple of weeks away from the game and driving with a fuzzy head while having Covid, I had a go with the Ionic 5N. Very pleased with my first session managing to get into the top 500. I was disappointed that the car doesn’t have the simulated manual and the sounds associated with it.

I know this is only early days, but I tend to do well with electric cars. Hopefully I can remain in the top 1000 by the time this is all done.

I might enjoy this TT if it wasn't for the car having overtake. Problem is I don't have a button to map it to that doesn't make it uncomfortable. Jamming my left thumb into the left stick when I'm turning even slightly is no bueno, but none of the other buttons are going to work for me. Wait...now that I think about it...If I'm not shifting, I can use one of those buttons. :dunce: I'll try that next time.
