people keep talking about "tonight"... I'd almost forgotten it was tomorrow morning ... I think as the time zones stand currently, I believe it starts at 6:45am ... it was 4:45 at one stage. I'm assuming that the UK has come out of summer time? I hope I don't miss qualifying!

@llNovall Awesome idea  . Wouldn't be faster with this method?
  • open the livery in the livery editor
  • select white background
  • preview + don't move the car
  • share
:)
That was my preferred method and is quite a bit easier. I decided to go this route off of paoloevans suggestion, since he mentioned that a few drivers are using pre-rendered and shared liveries from the community feature. The livery editor preview only works for user-created liveries. Wish they had a blank white background, but this is as close as I could get to afford a standard.

My round up from this round:
I just didnt have the pace at all, and for good reason - I really didnt put in that much practice.
I recently got to a point where i kinda burnt out from GTSport. I just got myself into a situation where I couldnt play casually - every single race i did had to be for DR - which just meant spending hours and hours and hours doing quali. Every time i played i was under stress not to lose Driver Rating so much, it just stopped being fun really. Even more because i just dont have that much free time. So as a result im on a semi-hiatus from the game, and from ps4 in general. In fact, before yesterday, i hadnt touched the controller since the last race we did. So yeah, not much practice at all. Plus, the magnificent McLaren top speed didnt help me either.
Still it was a fun race. I had some GREAT battles with robby right at the start - i was quicker, but simply couldnt get past due to my low straight line speed. I eventually got it done 3 laps later after some side by side action at Blanchimont. And then, a couple laps later, my phone rang mid chickane - i looked at it breefly, and spun in the process... i then proceeded to overfuel the car, which lost me 2 more positions in the pits, but i eventually got those back after some nice overtakes. All in all, disapointed i didnt get 4th, i definetly think i could have got it, but it was a fun race, and quite possibly the one i battled the most from all Sprint Cup races ive done.

PS: I will not be moving to GT7. I simply wont buy a PS5... plus, during this hiatus of mine, ive been trying to play tons of other games in pc, and ive quite enjoyed myself. Its such a more relaxed feeling than what playing GTS was to me. And hopefully i'll get back to the point where im having fun playing the game. Also, I will keep on doing this series though. Although somewhat serious, i dont put as much pressure on myself as i do for dailies for some reason. However, i dont expect to be as competitve as in previous seasons.

A big shout out to our race winner....he saved me a lap!

I wasn't going to catch you until you went deep at the chicane, and then I was just thinking don't hit you and get a penalty because @Spinerkopin was really close behind me

That was an awesome race ( big thanks to @paoloevans for hosting and organising! )

Qually went really well, I hit a 16.1 first lap which meant I could pit and go to the bathroom - I definitely drank too much water before the race! Came back in time but not before the gap to P2 had been slashed to a few tenths.

I hadn't done any laps until yesterday but I had a strategy in mind that I'd tested for the race, the plan was to try and fuel save till lap 10 and run very light that way. But then from lap 1 @Spinerkopin was just on me all the way through, the gap would vary from about 1 second to a maximum of 2 and when he pitted on lap 8 it meant I had to come in the next lap. He definitely gained on me on fresh tyres but I'd saved a decent amount of fuel for a short stop so the gap stayed was about the same when i rejoined and then it was just a sprint to the end.

I really wanted that fastest lap point but your lap was so fast dude, I finally beat it on lap 12 but then you immediately went a tenth quicker :ouch: Great job man you really pushed me in that race, I had so much fun! Shoutout to @Lost Sheltie for a strong 3rd with a last minute call up and probably zero practice

GG everyone

You've hit the mark there mate on the exact reason I created the Sprint Cup Series. It is ment to be a Championship where it is just fun to be involved in and not to become to much of a pressure to anyone have have a shed load of rules and regulations. Just. Fun. Racing.

Glad you enjoyed tonight's race 👍

When the blue flags came out I knew you were coming, but they tend to come out prematurely, so your focus is split between trying to stay on the track and looking out for the upcoming car. I ignored the blue flags because of this, knowing that you were probably half a lap away when they first started flashing. I figured I would have finished the lap before you crossed the line , but when my brakes just didn't seem to work before the chicane, I knew you would be on me. As soon as I saw you on the radar, getting out of your way was my main priority. I was in last place by like 30s, so being a roadblock was not an option 👍. When I looked on occasion at the gap between you and @Spinerkopin (I needed to know if there was one or two cars coming uip on me ), my timing info showed you had a 3s lead.

It wasn't easy, you did really well picking a clear direction so I knew which way to go.

I find the Corvette can do that, it's a strong car all round everywhere except the brakes, they're really bad and sometimes they just seem to lose effectiveness.

I was using +5 to save the fronts and you should have seen how early I had to brake for the chicane

Already took a race photo, Spa at sunset is amazing. And PD's graphics really do it justice.

Ok, this may be quite a long post:

For me qualy went ok... I think, couldn't do better really. Happy to "only" be half a second off @Philtaylor17

The race went surprisingly well, still a few mistakes on the raidillon. No fuel saving on my side, the car seems not that bad on fuel anyway. I probably should have pitted one lap earlier as the tires started to drop off quite fast, but it wouldn't change the results.
I was so focused at the end I thought my fastest lap was on the first stint, but I just watched the replay and noticed I went 2 tenths quicker on lap 13, so very proud of that:D

Again big congrats to @Philtaylor17  I don't think I have the pace to beat you through the season, but we never know, maybe at Suzuka...

As for @PTLobo2 :

I know EXACTLY what you feel about this game right know as I stopped to race on Sport mode since June. When I was younger and I still have this opinion today, I always saw racing like a big event that you look forward for days or for weeks. Long event where you have one and only one chance to deliver, and thats what I loved with the first concept of FIA races : only one shot, one chance to deliver, I was exited because I was training for an EVENT. Now with multiple shots and questionable meta, I don't see how those races can be fun anymore. Even on daily races. My main issue with them is the qualy system, it's encourage more the tryharding than actually being fast on one lap when it matters and that's not how qualy should work for me.

At the same time, that's why I love this series, and the other small series I had the chance to take part, because they still have this "event" side, the "thing" that makes me want to be involved.

I had the chance to get into A+, reached 60k before the DR uptdate and I'm not intersted for more atm.

Basically, the best advice I can give you is to stop sport mode, stop putting you pressure on any races, focus on other games... I also started to play plenty of games on PC when I stopped to play GT, somes where related to racing, others not. Just take a step away from "competitive games" I would say.

Since November last year I started to do karting races at my local track (a bit like Club 100 in th UK but with slower karts sadly) and I must say even if I'm clearly not one of the fastest guys out there, It taught my to race in a more positive way, with less fustration, so maybe if you can afford it, after all the mess we experience in those times, you can give it a shot:tup:

Hey hey peepz, here's my try at a more or less quick recap:
Congrats to @Spinerkopin and @Philtaylor17 on being in a class of their own again and as usual and congrats to @Lost Sheltie for jumping in and getting 3rd.
That start was a real weird thing, everybody from @Lost Sheltie onwards just lost heaps of time because we were starting right in the chicane. Lol to the auto rolling start there.
I am very happy with my quali performance, my race performance was okay, but I was definetly struggling for race pace, especially in the first stint. It is still hard for me to drive the GTI on the limit with tyre wear and fuel consumpiton on, the car is easy to overdrive and a bit twitchy in the lower gears but is also just slow if you are too careful.
I think we had a good scrap for 4th to 8th between @PTLobo2, @Lazybike, @WhiteFlight1, @llNovall and me. Went a bit backwards in stint one, as I said, race pace was off, sorry for th few close calls in that stint because of me overshooting my braking points. I was fortunate to get a jump in the pits with a bit less refueling to do but had to yield 5th to the charging @PTLobo2 in the end. But in general I am happy, as no major mistake happened this time.
Finally, on the note of having fun playing the game, I can also relate to what you said @PTLobo2 & @Spinerkopin. After last years FIA I stopped playing FIA and sport mode for a few months, only doing lobby racing. Had a brief try at FIA this April but got off it again after 2 events because exactly what you were describing was starting again, I had no fun, I was stressed about losing the DR I had worked so hard to get to...well, I haven't looked back. I jsut do lobby racing, both casual and planned, creating events with friends of various kinds and really getting into it. That's so much more fun and the driving is so much more respectful as well.
Well, that's about it. Here are a few shots from the race:

Yeah the rolling starts at Spa are just terrible. I was 5 secs off the lead (@Philtaylor17) after the 1st corner, and 3 secs off of @Spinerkopin. I was hoping they might fight or make a mistake, but they never did so I ended just lapping on my own a few tenths off their pace. I hope everyone had fun, looked close in a lot of places on the minimap :)

Was fun doing a race though as I haven't really been playing much of late (doing a uni course that eats most of my time). Thanks to @paoloevans for inviting me. Just give me a shout if you ever need someone to fill a space and I will try and be there :)
