SRT 4 anyone? Yep it will be mine in Feb of next year.

This car is so ugly. I hope the hype dies down quick. Its a Neon for crying out loud!!! Then you put a 2.4L engine, then add a turbo, then put a scoop on the hood and a wing in the back, and its SRT woo-hoo! ( Please take note of sarcasm.. i know its more than that ) What a bunch of crap. The price tag should be an indication to BEWARE. Put an extra 5G's aside, and get urself a WRX :P

Sorry, too many positive posts... just had to do it.

They're not making yellow next year right? One of my friends really wants one but doesn't want to pay over MSRP like all the dealers around here are charging. He said they are making a blue next year but no yellow. I have only seen it in black and silver and the silver is beautiful. I'm not a fan of the wheels though.

Here we go more "Its a neon!" crap. That is not an argument. It is a moronic statment.
Think of it this way, what other new car can you think of that can do 0-60 in well under 6 seconds, quarter in 14 at 101mph, brake on par with a porche 911, and slalom at 69mph? Those are very big numbers in the SRT-4's class. And whlie you chew on that know this. I only paid $17,495 for mine and even that is a bit of a financial stretch for me. Yet you say that I should have tossed out another 5 grand (more like 6 and a half grand in my case) out on a WRX. If I had that kind of money I would have bought a WRX but I didin't so I bought an SRT-4 and I have no regrets about buying a car that outperforms cars costing thousands more. So stop this "Just an neon" s**t and use an argument that has merit.:banghead:

Actually, it's a pretty truthful statement. It is a Neon, isn't it?:P

HE's right, you can put asside the Extra five thousand dollars, and get a car that has AWD, a smaller intercooler, slower in the 1/4 mile and with a lower top speed, has horrible front end stylings and is 4 door.
Wow, you can do that? Pay 5 thousand more for a car and get less? Damn, where do I sign up?

You list AWD as if it's a bad thing. You realize the Neon SRT-4 is FWD, right? Aka wrong wheel drive. A smaller intercooler? Uhh, whoop-a-dee-doo. Lower top speed? Who really cares about that? So it can't go 150, 160. Who does that on a daily basis, really? I doubt you coult hit the SRT-4's top speed on any fun track. Horrible front end styling? Have you seen an SRT-4 lately? 4-door? Once again, have you seen an SRT-4 lately?

If you pay an extra $5,000 you get a car that looks better(IMO), and has a better potential to be made faster.

And its a proven car. I dont know much about this new 2.4L Turbo engine. Is it reliable? The whole fact that it is a Neon to start with also makes me question the build quality. Does it match that of the WRX? The answer could be yes or no. But ppl only look at price/performance and draw conclusions. So there is no need to ***** at me.. im just trying to make some ppl realise that there IS a reason why its less expensive but faster than alot of cars. But Dodge doesnt want you to think about that. I just think too many ppl have become blinded by its performance, and have stopped to question other things about the car. Just a thought for you ppl.

The 2.4 DOHC has been around since 1995, when it was introduced in the JA series, also known as the Cloud Cars. The bottom end is pretty stout and although there were minor issues with top end oiling originally, these have been solved permnently and in fact the revised parts can be fitted to older 2.4s.

The head was substantially improved in 2001 or so with the advent of the PT Cruiser, and further refined for the GT Cruiser and SRT.

The new turbo versions draw heavily on experience and improvements made throughout the life of the Mexico-market Stratus R/T, which used a turbocharged version of the original 2.4 in the first-gen Stratus chassis. And if there's one thing Chrysler knows, it's turbocharged 4 cylinders.

the only gripe i have about the car is that its FF, you are right cars need to be looked upon on an individual basis. think about it this way. if bmw only made the 1.8litre 5 series, and then brought out the M5, would people be sympathetic to it? eventually yes but not at first. anyway, leaving that highly hypothetical scenario asside... if the car can do the things u state, then brilliant, forget the fact its FF, or maybe slap some REALLY thick tyres on the front and drive it like there's no tomorrow :D

Dodge has been in the turbo 4 banger business for a LONG time. There is a great article covering the engine very well in this months SCC...or maybe last month. Anyway, a good read. And what's wrong with FF?

the new wrx has better lights then the round ones, although the srt-4 is nice and ive been inside one, id love to own the wrx.
i love to snowboard and awd u cant go wrong, try taking the srt-4 to tahoe in winter with out using snow chains...

Well, If I couldnt have a 4wd to drive through the snow, I'd rather have the wheels pulling me through the snow rather than the rear as it would be more stable. Just my opinion. It is a good car though. I have a vid of one smoking a WRX (RS I think) on the highway, then overtaking a Talon that tries the same. And it had 3 people in the car. I really love mine. With the mopar stage one kit Im getting next week, I can get to 60 in about 5.3 or 5.2 seconds :)...
