Like the topic says if you don't dig the SRT-4 you can write about how crappy you think the SRT-4 is elsewhere.
Now onto buisness. I know I am new here but I am a diehard SRT-4 fanatic and I want to talk about all things SRT-4 or even PVO. I want to see pictures and here everyones plans for mods and purchases. I myself Will be posting pics of my own car but right now it is dark outside so it will have to wait till tomorrow. As for mods, for the first year I want to add an LSD from Quaife, Eibach pro springs, those neat sounding shocks neon_duke mentioned, some lightweight wheels onto which I can fit some 225\45\17s (any recomendations on some rubber, I am thinking of Yokohma AVS ES100s) and a stage one tune. Not that I will be able to afford all that but that is on my list. So come on and help me make a little corner where we can share our intrest in this incredible little car:)

That's how much we love that car?
Oh how very drole:rolleyes:
Look I happen to own an SRT-4 and I like very much. I just want to talk about it. Is that so wrong. Is it so offensive to others? I have nothing against Lexus but I don't have one, can't afford one so I don't talk about them. If it would make you happy I will listen to you all about your Lexus. What Kind of Lexus is it? But please I don't want to get to far off topic. Sheesh!

I see. I guess i'll tell all my fellow Prelude owners to join this place so we can start a thread and talk about nothing in it!

Me and Rob are telling all of our Lexus buddies to join so we too can start our own thread. Lovers, and owners only, though, NO HATERS!

So what is it you like most about the SRT-4?
Other than than the engine? As I have said in other threads the brakes are very impressive, which is neccessary in a car capable of the speeds the SRT-4 is. I also think the handeling of the car is also underated. Whlie not as sharp as an ITR (which I have driven, and loved every minute of it) It does have a good amount of grip, and with some camber in the wheels could be much better( Has zero from the factory.) and the cars balance is very good for a front driver and the car is very responsive to throttle lift midcorner.
Oh and by the way I have no little sister:D

With the forum's demographics, you won't be talking technical a lot here. Most members here aren't even 15 year old.

I'll bite

Hey man, I'm not tryin to set you up for nothin. That's Josh's job.
I was just curious as to why you seem to like this car so much since you didnt outline that in your first post and I haven't read any of the other bazillion (yeah) threads on the SRT here.

What makes you think that the handeling of the SRT is under rated, please elaborate.

In all honesty, I hope that the car does well in the market place. I really do. It would be nice to have something American made that some people actually want to drive, have fun with and can afford.

The thing that I particularly like about the SRT is that it seems to be ready made for the aftermarket performance market. For example I hear that a piece of the hood can be cut out to make a sort of "ram air" thingy. Easy HP addition there right?

Seems like Dodge made things easy for the aftermarket.

Mabye you're right, but I went through the effort to join so I won't give up yet;) And I do guess I have SRT on the brain but I am so stoked about this car I can't help it. I do have other automotive intrestes. (and would you belive the car and driver forums are more hostile than here, I can't get a good discussion in there at all.).

I just keep hearing alot of "not quite as tight as th mazda or not as good as a ITR" This may be true but the SRT does have tis own handleing merit. Also lets keep in mind that thing about the camber. I also feel that the tires are too narrow at 205\50\17s sd some grip is lost there though the pilot sports seem to be very sticky (with a tread wear rating of 220 they had damn well better be).
as for the whole ram air trick, it seems to me that since a turbo compresses air to a set pressure pretty much regardless of the intake pressure I dont see much gain there. I will probably do it anyway just to say that I did and because since I am on a month long leave I get bored during the days (I have waxed my car like five times just for somthing to do when I'm not driving. I can't hardly look at the thing without bliding myself:lol: )
Thanks for the interest.

Yeah, but the turbo has to have air to compress, if you free up the intake on any turbo'd car, more air will be able to get to the turbo and you'll get an increase in power and the turbo would spool up faster (I think).

Yeah, that is true and it would also provide cool fresh air to the air box( and make a whole lota cool intake honk too!). I just doubt that there would be any true ram air effect. The bulge on the underside of the hood is located off to the right(when you are looking at it from the front) of the actual scoop. Which seems pretty restrictive. I will take some underhood pictures in the morning.(where's that digital camera?)
And how did you fix that goof of mine boombexus? (thanks BTY)

That little blue oval thingy with the "SM" in the middle of it next to my name helps too.;)

You've stumbled into a forum of idiotic jokers, though we're also very smart and serious when necessary. Don't take it personally and you'll do fine. Sheesh! :)

Yeah - Rob's into sadomasochism, as are all the other ones with that blue oval thingy.

I won't elaborate on the meaning of the red oval thingy, though.

I don't get it. You've come in here and actually noted that you like the GM J-body cars. How can you even think of calling other people stupid?

Actually speaking after a little test drive, I was impressed with the SRT-4. . . But, Camber alone will not fix any understeering. Have you actually looked at a tire that is 205/50/17. The Chassis of the car suits it fine too tell the truth. The SRT-4 is going to be a straight line car. In a test against the Mazdaspeed Protege, and mind you 40 to 50 less horsepower, the Protege took the SRT-4 in the corners, but in the end the SRT-4 took the race in the straight lines. It is a nimble car for Front wheel drive, but the fact of the matter is it is only going to be a straight line racer.

Yeah, didn't he post up some thread about how cool it would be to put gold dubs on some Oldsmobile too?

We get together every friday.
This week though me and Josh are going camping. ;)

boombexus, see what I mean about the SRT-4 being underated in the handling dept.
Now miata13b. I can tell you form 1500 mi of personal experiance over highly varied conditions that there is much more to the SRT-4 than the straightaway. The thing will tuck in nicely with a well timed throttle lift. Of course it will always have a tedency to understeer as all front drivers do. I am not saying the mazda is not better than the SRT in corners(vorners?) I am just trying to say that the SRT-4 takes a corner much bettwer than most people give ti credit for, after all it does a 600ft slalom just 1mph slower the the mazdaspeed.(69mph vs 70mph) And frankly both these numberas are way up there. But again no good car can be summed up by numbers alone. Trust me it handles;) And could you please tell me why those skinny ass tires suit the chassis, I have my heart set on some fat 225s. And some negitve camber will give some additional girp in the corners.
Also where the hell are the other SRT-4 owners?! They are all a bunch of peener tweeners for abandoning me like this:lol:
Also also wow look at the time, I guess I have no life:(

Agreed. Don't worry, though. Duke will be back to help you(he doesn't own an SRT-4, though), and Frustated Palm will be here too eventually.

No kidding. It's like almost 5:00am here! G'night!
