SRT Viper FREE!!!!!

FM4 launched in 2011 using 2011 race cars though.
Also the 2012 ALMS and ELMS seasons, some part of the 2012 WEC, started just 3 months ago in March. We'd have to see if any remaining DLC has 2012 race models or not to see if that statement is true. Never heard of it until now though.

How then would you explain Codemasters & their last 2 F1 games that featured cars from the season that was still in progress?

Because that is an Official F1 game, FOM own the rights to anything and everything to do with F1, they decide what happens in F1 games not McLaren/Ferrari etc

Then what will be included in the Viper Pack? just the SRT Viper GTS? That's not a "pack" though.

I thought there was a rule that game developers weren't allowed to use cars from the current season in video games.

It's not really that, it's that manufacturers are extremely paranoid that their competition will hack the game files and learn about their cars by looking at the physics data for the game.

It's why GT lists most race cars as having "---" in most of their stats.

The only problem with this is most of these games are just giving an approximation of the car's performance. It isn't like they have weight of each nut and bolt on file. I'm sure the game gets the general feel of the cars but I doubt any game you can get off the shelf for 59.99 is going to contain files that are marked top secret or anything.

That might explain why the Vertigo Race Car has like 800hp in GT4 & 5 despite the real car being an FIA GT3 race car....which aren't allowed to have that much HP. I believe GT5 mentions the one in game has a turbo charger or something added to it.

Also...F1 doesn't care. didn't GT5 have Ferrari's F1 car from that current season when it was released? And doesn't Test Drive Ferrari also have the current F1 car?

EDIT: The closest thing would be the Peugeot LMP1 car that raced in LeMans, but I believe by the time the game was released, that car wasn't racing anymore.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that what you said has very little if anything to do with cars/stats being included/not included.

Just to point that out: Ferrari is, as opposed to other manufacturers involved in F1, in charge of its licensing. The other teams are handled by the F1 licensing board, whatever that's called.

As for race cars not showing their respective stats in GT, I'd say that's mostlyy because they weren't dyno'd or otherwise tested. I doubt it's about any crazy paranoid fear.

There is so little any of these teams could learn from hacking a video game, that I just don't see that being a valid reason. Take the CTS-V's for example. Scrape all the data you want, FM4 isn't simulating the Dual-mode Magnetic Ride Control suspension. I'd even go out on a limb and say that beyond suspension type and spring rates, that's about as close they're getting to "mapping" the suspension.

As for GT not showing the data, well... the '05 Mazdaspeed6 (a production car) has a "---" in place of the driveline. Even the brochure on mine said it was AWD.

Just for the record the new Viper pack contains the (hidden) 2012 Challenger SRT8 392 which will be unlockable to FM4 owners who preorder Forza Horizon sometimes in July.

T10 has perfected the art of dangling a carrot in front of people. I don't wholly agree with the practice, but I'm too big of a car fan to avoid it...

If you were expecting a car that would bite your hand off, then it's not being weird. A mainstream manufacturer simply can't release cars like that any more.

Just downloaded the Viper and went straight to Autovista for a look. Sexy ass car, however it has confirmed the suspicion of whether or not the black section of the rear of the car was carbon fiber or not, and it isn't. Can anybody justify as to how something like that was overlooked?

yea my buddy told me about this when I was at work (he had off), he sent me two of them :-).

I love it!!!! one I left stock, and the other I fully built.

I was disappointed that Jeremy Clarkson didn't do it :banghead:

sorry for the double post....

1. Clarkson hasn't done any of the add-on Autovistas except the 2012 M5.

2. The 2013 SRT Viper isn't even released to dealerships yet. It'll probably be a season or two before Top Gear reviews it, if they ever do, but Clarkson can't give his opinion on something that's not out yet.

Whether he drove it or not isn't the issue. The contract likely only listed AV cars included at launch to be done by him. If not that, there's still scheduling issues and things like that.

I downloaded this the other day but only found it in the Autovista. Its not in the dealerships to purchase for the game. I didnt realize it was only for AUtovista. Great looking car for sure. I like how the Viper appears on the tach when you hit the rev limiter. I also like the grab bar built into the console for the passenger.

I like the idea of making it easier to earn money. However, I would LOVE to see something like GT5 for FM5 where you have the main game which has places you can mine for cash, or you can do seasonal events and max out your credits within a half hour or so. Seriously, that is the best compromise. That's they best of both worlds. But...if I had to choose one...it'd be the easy way.

Agree with this.
P.S. What's the limit of cash? I've never had over a few hundred thousand at one time.

You can find it in the dealerships , but it's in the VIPER dealership , not in the DODGE dealership ! ( It's a new dealership that has been added ! )
