Now, I've never actually seen a stand-up comedy act, but I have heard some of Rodney Rude's acts on CD, ultra funny stuff. Rude, but friggin funny as!

We're not used to this kind of comedy over here but I saw Seinfeld and Chris Rock on the tv sometimes and I liked it.

I just got 'Lenny Bruce - The Carnegie Hall Concert (1961)' and that's a truly brilliant gig... I also have an album called 'Woody Allen - The Nightclub Years 1964-1968' which is also very good, but heavily influenced by the aforementioned Lenny Bruce (amongst others). I also listen to Robin Williams ('Live At The NY Met' and 'Live On Broadway (2002)', Richard Pryor (to whom Chris Rock and Eddie Murphy owe a massive debt of gratitude!!) with 'Is It Something I Said?' and a true master of the art, Billy Connolly (who's material from the mid-late 70's and early 1980's is amazing)

And no one has mentioned Bill Bailey yet?

Like Billy Connolly, the guy can stand on stage, not saying a word and still bring the house down.

The funniest stand-up i've actually been to see live was Eddie Izzard. I've never laughed as much as when i saw him at the Reading Festival. However, i was partaking in traditional rock festival substances at the time...

I found a clip on the internet a while back of a comedian named Demetri Martin. He's actually really funny so Ive been watching some of his stuff. He's kind of like Mitch Hedburg but without the stoner voice.

If you want to see more of him, he’s on The Daily Show almost every day now.
