Standard cars and PS1-era cars that deserve the Premium treatment in GT7

In GT Sport, a handful of cars were upgraded from Standard to Premium status; however there's still a large amount of important cars that haven't received the Premium treatment. It's probably fair to assume that many of the "new" cars in GT7 will be Premium models of previously Standard cars. Which cars should receive a makeover? What cars could we feasibly see again?

This is nearly like the car prediction and wishlist thread. Maybe the Car Suggestions can be moved to this GT7 forum. Many cars posted in these GT7 threads, can be found there.
In typing all that, there are a host of Ruf cars that deserve to be made Premium. Like, all of them.

Plus, we likely will see the Nissan GT-R50 in the next game. Why would you ever want an early concept version of the R35 and a racing version of it, when we can have multiple iterations of both the production-spec R35 and real-world racing versions of it?

Look, I'd be willing to compromise if you said the GT-R Proto from '05, but the original R35 concept from '01? Seriously? I'm not even sure if that one had a cockpit...

If you look closely, you can see the interior. It was even in the PAL intro for GT Concept 2002 Tokyo-Geneva.

And talking of 2001 concept cars, the Dodge Viper GTS-R Concept would be really nice as well.

Huh, no kidding. Looks like I've learned something new. Though I'm not sure if the Dodge Viper GTS-R Concept is really necessary, since it has a striking resemblance to the production-spec third-generation Viper.

I suppose it would be neat if we had a premium version of the original R35 concept from '01, but I can't help but to wonder if PD would really be interested in adding it when the production-spec R35 is already around. That said, PD always seems to add cars we'd never really expect, so I'd say if they could really add a premium version of the 2001 concept, I'd be down - especially since it's more different from the production-spec R35 than the GT-R Proto from '05.

Otherwise, when it comes to concepts, I'd put an emphasis on mostly only overhauling concepts that never got produced. So for example, both RX-8 concepts that were in GT3 should be left behind, including the race car based on one of the concepts. I'd certainly say the same of the Nissan Z Concept, which eventually got turned into the production-spec Z33. But something like the Cadillac Cien could stay. In this regard, I suppose I could see the Viper GTS-R Concept sticking around, as it's not exactly a 1:1 representation of the third-gen Viper.

EDIT: I'm reading here that the Viper GTS-R Concept even had a fully functional interior, so it very well could have a shot at being given the premium treatment.

EDIT2: I also would nominate the Acura Integra Type R '01 for a car to get the premium treatment, as it's both an iconic car and would help to build Acura's car list beyond just having re-badged Hondas. In this regard, I'm hoping the new NSX Type S and the future Integra will be added as well. Plus, Acura could also have the older RSX Type-S, as well as the new TLX Type S.

Since I've always been a huge fan of this car, it would be nice to see the Altezza RS200 '98 comeback in super premium glory.

It's certainly not as likely to return as a Celica, for example, but it's still a long-running Toyota on the series, so there is a good little chance in my opinion.

My neighbour has the base IS200 manual. Would be a joy to get the RS back in with its TRD variants.

If I had it my way, all of them except for duplicate cars. Things like cars given regional difference names like Mitsubishi GTO to 3000GT or Mazda Eunos Roadster to MX-5 Miata. The regional name changes don't really make sense anymore when the last GT game (GT Sport) was sticking to purely the JDM names only anyway. Especially since all PD did for the most part is change the name and badging, all of the North American localized Japanese cars for instance performed the same as their JDM counterparts and looked the same.

Well, it didn't resemble that, but it was basically what became the Dodge Viper Competition Coupe, which has been in numerous other racing games such as the first 4 Forza Motorsport games, Project Gotham Racing 4, GTR Evolution for PC, and The Crew 1 & 2.

Back when GT Sport stopped receiving heavy content updates, I would eventually notice something: there aren't much non-Japanese 1990s street cars in the game, and because the 1990s are definitely my favorite decade when it comes to cars, I felt a little disappointed by this factor on GT Sport's car list.

Brands like Chevrolet, Ford, Alfa Romeo, Jaguar and Aston Martin, for example, all have kind of a "hole" if you list the cars by age. They start with models from the 50s/60s/70s then straight up to the late 2000s and 2010s. I really hope they fill that gap for GT7, at least for some brands.

Here are some standard non-Japanese 90s (and a little early 2000s) street cars I would love to see back:

Tuning completely open, so I learned a lot of about setting up a car from that too trying to make that little thing go fast. Later benefited me a lot when I started playing iRacing lol

Would kill to see these back along with the better tuning from past games.

Indeed. One of my fondest memories of GT4 was taking that 60's Fiat 500 with ALL THE UPGRADES and making it a delightfully surprising little thing even without any dialling in the tune. Very fun for something that didn't even hit 100 HP IIRC.

If I remember correctly, you could get those old 60's Fiat's up to around 115HP+ with GT6's tuning system. Not to mention, nitrous. Me and my friends did some very fun racing at Indianapolis with those. It was just a ton of drafting, but with like 16 people... it was constant action.

The Honda NSX-R Prototype LM, in both road and race car form. I've always thought they were really cool and with the existence of the Group 3 and Group B road models it deserves to come back.
Do you think it would go into Group 2 or 3? I'd expect 3 since there are already classic NSXs in Gr2, but it could go either way.
 
Definitely Gr.3. It’s similar the F1 and DBR9, during those car’s eras.
The NSX LM would definitely fit right in as not quite a GT1 (It even sort of resembles the NSX-R GT1 Turbo), given that it comes with a cool homologation special (something no other LM car in the GT series had).

No offense, but I actually want for these variants of GT-R to be avaliable at the game. I'd think it's good for knowledge and educational factor, to know how GT-R has been changed and improved through time. Of course not when the 'duplicates' are too much like inserting different names or the region merge GT5/GT6 did, I'd think those variants of GT-R there is enough.

Also man if you lump the Super GT cars, the road-going version of the cars are different enough to drive from the race spec versions, they shouldn't be grouped identical cars just because of having the same name. Instead of just looking at car names and prejudging them on that, should taking the time to determine what actually constitutes a unique car.
