I have never played gt before. I have raced grid 1 and 2. it allows you to dedicate different buttons for steering. gt6 sounds fun but I am so use to steering with my d pad I just hate to spend 60 bux on a game that doesn't allow me a steering option. thank you for your reply

Here you go. Note that whatever you try to do, you cannot map the RS to spin the camera around. This is an going issue with GT games but thankfully it's a minor issue.

Edit: Short answer, yes you can steer with D-pad

thank you very much. guess I will try it out. 1 more question. can you drive around the track backwards. I race a lot of friends and some times we have battles to see who can wreck each other out of the race. lol

You are free to drive backwards in a race, there's no time limit or car reset if that's what you mean. This is not related to your question but some Original tracks have actual reversed versions too.

I wouldn't recommend driving backwards in an online lobby. Why would you not just use the stick to steer?

im just use to using the d pad. im actually very good steering that way. I have to use the joystick in gta and I don't relly like it
