I agree with NoxNoctis Umbra, it's not worth it to use a crappy wheel over a controller. Better to save up for a solid wheel than to try and make a crap wheel work for you. If anything you will be reducing your experience with said games by using a crap wheel.
The first wheel I ever bought was a Madcatz and it broke down after a year and screwed up my PS2 controller port. I later wanted a Driving Force wheel as it had force feedback and that was a much better experience. The only problem was that you couldn't shift and turn at the same time when using the paddle shifters with manual gears(I was playing GT3 at the time). I had to reassign buttons etc to get around that but I wanted to use the paddles as that was what it was for.
So I awaited for a new wheel that had fixed this issue and along came the Driving Force Pro. It had more features and 900 degrees of rotation and was the next level in realism. I bought that wheel for GT4 and was in driving heaven. Until the brake pedal issues came to light (google for that fix). The fix only lasted for a month at a time before I gave up and switched to the controller for the rest of the PS2 gaming life.
Then came the G25 finally what I was waiting for: no shifting issues, no brake pedal issues, metal pedals with clutch and H shifter, larger diameter wheel etc. Only problem was price so I saved up and bought one with my hard earned money and haven't looked back since.
I now enjoy GT5P with the G25 and eagerly await GT5. I may save up for a Fanatec wheel for use with the X360 and Forza 3 as well as the PS3, but it depends if I actually like Forza 3.
So my advice to you is to save up for a DFGT at the very least or stick to the controller.
