Its amazing how some people even know how to turn their PS3 on

Ha ha, maybe thats why Sony removed the I/O switch from the rear of PS3??

Even now PS3, especially launch models, impresses with its capabilities and features. Just me? O.k then.

LOL 2-4fps isn't even noticable.
WTF?

What does it matter, i was proving to you that the framerates ARE different.

YOU said there is NO DIFFERENCE AT ALL in framerates between resolution.

I have proved you wrong end of story!

Gawd, if you just want framerate above all else then buy a PlayStation S-Video Cable and use that, 480P at an unwaveringly perfect 60FPS ;).
n.b. I haven't tested this and it is probably false, but logical nonetheless.

Let's connect the PS3 to a Tamagochi screen and watch the FPS go into hyperspace!

mikochu,

It's tough to say authoritatively what you mean by "performance", but I'll take a stab anyway.
I'd say as long as your TV handles game FPS ok, just set it up for 1080 and be done with it.

I don't really see what all the fuss is about. I use 1080 because it improves the pixel resolution of the virtual driving arena. And at least for me, I do not really "need" 60 FPS to gain what I purchased GT6 for. The screen resolution more than pays for any minor reduction in framerate.

Based on a wild guess that like the vast majority of players, (and people in general), the benefits in terms of resolution performance will far outweigh any reduction in FPS performance, and you'll see the best payback by using 1080 and leaving 720 to those who are still tied to 720-only CRT TVs or have panty-twists because it's not really "real" or the FPS isn't 60. It's really not that big a deal.

It is! Whenever the frame rate drops below 60, you get tearing! It's very noticeable!
Exactly you notice frame dips.... You cannot see the difference between 40fps and 42fps.....you notice frame dips instead which happens to both versions at the exact same time with both version dropping the same amount of frames.

In 1080p, when viewing replay from track side cameras, there's noticeable frame drop when a car got zoomed in or passing the camera or when many cars in view, while in 720p, it's smooth consistent frame rate ( at least on my PS3 )

It's all a matter of preference, I have 1080p 32 inch LCD, but I used 720p in GT6 as it allows my PS3 to run cooler than in 1080p.

Well if you buy a 1080P TV and you dont like the way it "feels" you could always turn it back to 720P, but you can't do it the other way around.
