This is a thread series for the seasonal time trials that focuses on completing the challenges (i.e. beating the gold target times) with stock versions of the cars. This means that instead of maximizing your PP with upgrades and focusing on getting the fastest laps on the in-game leaderboard, you are attempting to complete the challenges with the bare minimum amount of 'car' and money-spent as is possible.

With the new more open ended format means that part of the challenge will be finding a stock car that has the lowest PP or lowest price depending on your view. It is also difficult to predict which types of tires a car will come with before purchasing.

Warning: Some of these challenges are getting to be extreme and should be approached with caution! :banghead:

In order to participate your car must be stock.

1) A stock car is essentially any car as it is when purchased from the dealership or won as a prize: it will have had no modifications, added parts, or adjustments done that affect how the car performs.
2) No oil changes are permitted: if you have had an oil change you must wait until the effects of the HP boost have been removed by driving over 300 km.
3) You must use the original tire type that came with the car, unless dirt or snow tires are required.
4) No changes to any “Car Settings” are permitted: they must ALL be left at their default values. [Note: cars that come with Fully Customizable Suspension that were purchased or won prior to patch 1.11 must have the suspension settings restored to default in order to be updated with the new stock suspension settings.]
5) No SRF or ASM is permitted: other “Driver Assists” are permitted.

Basically, the ONLY changes you may make to a car include: painting the car and changing a car’s racing number. Any other changes means your car is not stock.

Stock A-Spec Seasonals #9:

Beginner Level Supercar Festival: Twin Ring Motegi Super Speedway - 550 PP - SH
Intermediate Level American Muscle: Autumn Ring - 500 PP - SS
Expert Level Rainmasters: Spa - 500 PP - SS

The Stock Seasonal Spreadsheet:

A few members have begun a leaderboard of sorts where individuals will be able to input their info into a public document. This is not so much a competition as a way to compare all sorts of data. At this point the data that is recorded for entries is as follows:

PP - Best Lap - Total Time - Car - Tires - Drive - Power - Weight - Rabbit - Rabbit Total Time

Link to the GTP Stock Seasonal Spreadsheet:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1kDEW2OWUxHfq9PTR4G4-HKXl3veLfq0sXhvwiPYMUGw/

Notes about the Spreadsheet:
Tabs will generally be ordered with the newest seasonal events at the left.
Gold times are ordered based first on PP (lowest PP at the top), and then total time.
Bronze and Silver times are ordered based solely on total time (fastest time at the top): these entries will be grayed out.
If you are comfortable with entering your info please do so.
Only create one entry per car for your best total time for that car.
To add an empty line: right click (PC) on a gray row number box and select add a row above or below.
If you make a mistake or change something you did not mean to change hit undo once or a few times.

I'll create the spreadsheet tabs momentarily.
Looks like the typical opponents for the Rainmasters will be above the 500PP limit, but the payout look impressive.

My results so far with a wheel and an automatic transmission:

Beginner Supercar at Twin Ring Super Speedway:

536PP – 39.766 – 3:35.641 – Shelby Cobra 427 ’66 – SH – FR – 484hp – 1068kg – 458 Italia ’09 – 3:36.053

496PP – 40.260 – 3:37.225 – Ferrari 365 GTB4 ’71 – SH – FR – 347hp – 1200kg – S7 ’02 – 3:37.467

486PP – 40.127 – 3:37.956 – Shelby Series One Super Charged ’03 – SH – FR – 319hp – 1202kg – S7 ’02 – 3:38.137

Intermediate American Muscle at Autumn Ring:

454PP – 1:31.079 – 8:13.210 – Shelby GT350 ’65 – SH – FR – 304hp – 1270kg – Camaro SS ’10 – 8:13.782

486PP – 1:25.109 – 7:51.826 – Shelby Series One Super Charged ’03 – SH – FR – 319hp – 1202kg – Camaro SS ’10 – 7:55.738

Expert Rainmasters at Spa:

486PP – 2:45.369 – 15:17.931 – Shelby Series One Super Charged ’03 – SH – FR – 319hp – 1202kg – Esprit Sport 350 ’00 – 15:19.238 (Followed by RGT ’00 and XRF ’10)

I tried one race against a GT40 Mark 1 ’66 and could not catch anything but his bumper. The rain also varies: in the race vs the GT40 it was completely dry (i.e. 0%) by halfway through the last lap, but in the race against the Esprit it never dried at all and was around 25% at the very end of race I think. The AI drives worse in the rain than when it’s dry, so differing amounts of rain will have different results for people.

The Shelby Series One Super Charged '03 can win all three events. :sly: I wish it were a premium. :irked:

Surprisingly, I managed to gain 40 seconds on the F40 before the end of lap 2, it then took me half of lap 3 to close in the final 5 seconds gap and make the pass, obviously from then onwards I had to play a dirty game with the Ferrari and he did manage to get back past at one stage when I late braked into La Source and over shot it for the final lap but caught him again at Rivage and was side by side down to Pouhon where I passed again and made it stick. Had to run full defense through Blanchimont and had the scooby sliding around the chicane under braking. WOW!!! :D

Beginner Supercar at Twin Ring Super Speedway:

512PP – – 3:38.103 – Lamborghini Miura P400 Bertone ’67 – SH – MR – 349hp – 980kg – Zonda C12S '00 +0.130
Hadn't driven the Muira for a while and I was missing it. As straightforward as you'd imagine. Followed the Zonda for a bit then passed him on the last corner.

493PP – – 3:40.127 – Lotus Esprit Sport 350 '00 – SH – MR – 353hp – 1300kg – S7 '02 - +0.192
Lots of sliding about = lots of fun.

Couldn't quite manage it in the 512BB. It could easily become an obsession though.

Intermediate American Muscle at Autumn Ring:

463PP
- - 8.06.721 - Tesla Roadster '08 - SH- MR - 277bhp - 1238kg - Series One Supercharged - + 0.288

It's come to something when a battery-powered car counts as "American Muscle".

427PP- -- 8:40.959 - Buick GNX '87 - CS - FR - 276bhp - 1600kg - Mustang SVT Cobra R '00 - +0.282

I knew eventually there would be an event where this car would shine. Almighty tussles with the Mustang on the last lap. Actual racing, with swapping position and everything. First attempt he re-passed me and got the win but I got him on the second go.

I did the 1st race with my GXR. Gold. The next race I bought and tuned a Pontiac Solstice.Gold again. Then when I saw the PP for the Expert level I figured what the hell.I stayed in the Solstice.Gold(barely).I then raced the beginner race again and did Gold all 3 races with a Solstice.
If I could find a good tune for this it would be a great low PP car.

Finally got to have a crack at these races. They were pretty fun in the end, each for their own reasons:

Beginner Level Supercar Festival: Twin Ring Motegi Super Speedway - 550 PP - SH

After @StirlingMoose mentioning the Miura, I decided it was time to pull the trigger on that purchase. I've been meaning to do it for ages and now seemed liked the perfect time:

- - - 512pp | 0:39.529 | 3:33.652 | Miura P400 Bertone ’67 | SH | MR | 349bhp | 980kg | Ford GT '06 | +00.458

The Miura is a pretty sweet drive straight out of the box, I kind of like how off throttle it begins to oversteer and on throttle it understeers...a fun balancing act 👍

Intermediate Level American Muscle: Autumn Ring - 500 PP - SS

I was looking for a proper old school Muscle Car for this one but in the end saw the Silverado and wanted to try something different, I enjoyed driving it in GT5 and wanted to see what it was like:

- - - 474pp | 1:32.214 | 8:20.681 | Chev Silverado SST '02 | SH | FR | 488bhp | 2268kg | Camaro SS '10 | +00.600

Took a while to win this one but it was heaps of fun, you basically have to brake too much leading in to a corner and then blast the rear end around the corner before easing back on the gas to get out of the corner...it simply won't do hairpins any other way :)

Expert Level Rainmasters: Spa - 500 PP - SS

After people saying this one was pretty tricky I was a bit hesitant and had considered bringing out the GSX but then I remembered how close I came in London with the HSC so I gave it a crack here:

- - - 490pp | 2:40.187 | 15:14.733 | Honda HSC '03 | SH | MR | 324 | 1150 | Ferrari GTO '84 | +00.127

It actually wasn't that hard despite the close looking finish, I did it on my first attempt and I really enjoyed the sliding around in this car, it felt predictable and controllable although under heavy braking it did like to veer all over the shop!

Spreadsheet Updated 👍

Sorry been away-

The Motegi event I plumped for a Tuscan - and it walked away. Don't think I will return to turning left.

The Muscle car I used a Tesla Roadster (Legacy track?)
I was put off by the lack of engines - any engine lots of tyre action -

Not tried the wet spa yet.

For Spa I used the NSXR Concept car and it was awesome! Until the rain stopped, then the big guns came hunting (the Nissan LM road car) but managed to hold them off for the last lap with 0% water, where the NSX was a bit underpowered.

The Shelby 350R worked great for the Autumn Ring, as did the Solstice and the Boss 302.

I used the NSX-R LM Proto Road Car for Motegi and it was great running 0:38 or 0:37 second laps

My fun included having to try all three with the Camaro SS '10 (which I think is one of the best stock cars for its price 35,000 Kazs) Winnings for all 3 events 824,000 Kazs:D

Ford RS200 '84 432pp SH 246bhp, 1180 kg, 4.79kg/bhp. check replay for times. Countach '74 rabbit, in lead 3rd lap then blocking the rest of the way.

Intermediate level with a pure stock TRUCK on Sport Hard tire :D

Same truck but with Sport Soft tire, I improved about 3 seconds per lap.
474pp | 1:30.xxx | 8:16.304 | Chev Silverado SST '02 | SS | FR | 488bhp | 2268kg | Camaro SS '10 | +00.963

Very good. I'd tried the RS200 but only managed second place. It was part of my wholly unsuccessful attempt to find a low PP car to do them all in. Unfortunately I could only manage second both at Spa and Motegi. Likewise in the Tesla.
Maybe worth another go at Motegi in the RS200 though.

So I've still not got a win in the rain. Lots of fun trying though. Tippy-toeing around in the wet and gradually starting to push it a bit, trying to judge when it's safe to start using the kerbs, then hammer down for the last lap, usually chasing some bastard who I'd caught by lap 3 and now goes like a bat out of hell.

Other failures include :
Isuzu 4200R Concept '89 @454PP
SKYLINE GT-R V-spec II N1 (R34) '00 @467PP
Both of which may be winners with a really good drive and a friendly grid.
