*This can change at anytime, please check settings often.

CAUTIONS:
  • A caution exists when 1 or more drivers loose control and become a danger to the rest of the field.
  • Cuations Last 2 Laps. Example, if the caution comes out on lap 3, then we take the green flag going into lap 5.
  • When there are 3 laps to go, and if a cuation exists; the feild will be required to enter a RED FLAG state. The field will remain in a red flag state until all other drivers are caught up.

RULES
GENERALLY, THESE ARE THE RULES WE WILL BE FOLLOWING. PLEASE READ UP!

I want VERY clean racing. The only time you should be touching another car is in the straights, other than that give each other LOTS of room to race. Failure to comply to these rules, and you will be asked to leave.

A. COMMUNICATION

  • A headset is strongly recommended
  • No cursing, racism, bathroom humor, or innuendos of any kind is allowed over the radio or in text form through the PSN or GTPlanet at any time. This includes shortcut words like STFU or WTF.
  • Flaming is not tolerated in open or public. Debate the incident in a civilized manor but do not flame the other driver.
  • During the race keep communication light and strictly to issues concerning the race.
  • Communication is to be kept silent during qualifying sessions.
  • Keep off-topic (non GT5/race related) chatter to a minimum

B. GENERAL ON TRACK BEHAVIOR

  • You must bring your car to a stop either in the pits or on a safe place on the track before exiting the vehicle using ingame options.
  • Reversing or driving backwards on track for a period longer then needed to recover from an incident is forbidden.
  • Making donuts or standing stationary and spinning your tires is forbidden in every session.
  • You are not allowed to park your car anywhere on track.
  • Intentional wrecking of any kind is not allowed, even between two consenting parties.

C. PIT STOPS

  • Each track has a pit lane speed. You must reduce your car's speed to the speed limit by the time you enter pit road.
  • Do not merge onto the track until the backstretch at Daytona Speedway, Twin Ring Motegi, and Texas
  • If possible, do not slow down for the pits while on the racing line.
  • When exiting the pits pay attention to any merging lines on the track. Watch out for other cars already up to speed when exiting the pits.
  • Do your best to alert those around you of your intention to pit. If you have a headset alert those around you about your intention to pit. Ex: "Car 24 pitting this time"

I. RACING

  • Bump drafting the car ahead of you at a sensible speed is allowed on the straights, but is strictly prohibited in the turns.
  • Any kind of contact while cornering is strictly prohibited.
  • "Bump and Run" techniques are strictly prohibited.
  • If you are about to be lapped by the leader keep sensible in your driving. If you are considerably off the pace or damaged it would be better to just move out of the racing line and give plenty of room to the leader or other leading cars.
  • You are not allowed to intentionally wreck anyone, even in practice sessions.
  • Certain ovals have an "out of bounds" line. You are not allowed to put two tires below this line. You are not allowed to advance your position over any car on the track below this line. If you are forced below this line and you advance your position, you must give the position back before the end of the lap.
  • When blocking you are not allowed to make sudden changes of direction. The following driver must be given enough time to react and avoid you depending on his closing speed. You are allowed to only make one blocking move per straight. Weaving across the track to block someone or break a draft is not allowed.
  • There is no strict formula on how to pass another car or how to be passed. SCANA expects all drivers to respect their fellow drivers. Do not dive bomb drivers. Keep an eye on drivers attempting to pass you from behind. Give a reasonable amount of room. If you find yourself constantly creating alot of contact when you make a pass you probably aren't doing it right. Do not boss your way through the field or through lapped cars. Keep in mind that on roadcourses most turns are not suitable passing opportunities.
  • Physics for every racing series will be "Professional".

J. ACCIDENTS

  • Accidents are a part of racing and are expected to happen and most are honest mistakes. However there is a difference between a mistake and carelessness. A careless driver drives beyond his limits or the limits of others around him time and time again. Learn the limits of your own driving ability and the limits and driving ability of the drivers you race with on a weekly basis before attempting any risky manuvers.
  • If a driver wants to a file a complaint against another driver for wrecking him in a race he should not attempt to retaliate in the race. He should file a complaint with SCANA after the race. The SCANA officials will review the replay and take proper actions. Attempting to retaliate during the race is a bad idea because the driver cannot be 100% sure how or why the incident happened and retaliation may collect a bystanding driver.
  • If you spin/wreck another driver you may slowdown at a safe point on the track and let him retake the position ahead of you. This is NOT a requirement for any accident. It is up to the driver's conscience. However doing this may prevent or lessen post-race penalties. If you think a race accident was just a racing deal and nothing outside of superhuman reflexes or abilities could have prevented the situation then continue on racing. If you think the accident was the other driver's fault then continue on racing. Everything will be settled after the race if the driver you wrecked files a complaint.
  • When recovering from an accident wait until the track is clear before reentering the race course.

K. CONNECTION ISSUES & WARP

  • If a race is disconnected it may or may not be run at another time.
  • If a single driver is disconnected from a race he will be scored behind all the other drivers who finish the race. This will be seen as a mechancal failure.
  • If more then half of the drivers in the race are disconnected the race may or may not be rerun at a later time.
  • If you start to warp drop to the back of the pack or away from other cars. You may be asked to disconnect from the race if you are a threat to the other drivers.

I'll be there.

I can drive the pace car for 1 race perhaps and others do one as well ?

Also your gear rule (211) is genius , it will knock out most of the draft 👍

I'll try to attend this, though I should warn you that my setup will probably be horrible compared to last time. :sly: I found the majority of my Daytona tune from combining bits of attempted tunes scattered around various threads here on GTP, and there aren't any for HSR. Ah well...

Hopefully I won't skid and spin like crazy in the slower corners either, since I don't actually have a wheel and use X and [] for throttle and brake (left stick for steering). I'm also hoping to have gotten a headset before this.

One last thing, hopefully I'll actually be able to see Earth this time. >_> At Daytona I could only see him after he had left and then rejoined the lounge just before the final race.

Once you get the best line it is really just about throttle control. :nervous: When we ran few laps around it previously it wasn't so bad, alot of understeer though...👎

I'll have a go in practice to see if I can manage the car well enough.

For now I just have to wait for my army of Bobs to finish their current endurance race (15 mins to go)

EDIT: Boo..I always spin out trying to accelerate out of the two slowest corners. I'm OK in the 3rd and 4th gear corners though. I'm also heavily locking one of my front tires as I brake and turn in(left tyre if the corner is left, and right if it's right), but I think that's because of my LSD settings.

EDIT2: Looks like I'll be switching to using the right analog stick for my throttle and brake in those two corners, I do better if I use them.

EDIT3: Seems like I have a choice between understeer, but being able to control the car slightly better around the slow corners, or being able to turn in fine, but spin a bit easier.

EDIT4: I found the simplest fix imaginable, and now I don't skid/spin unless I outbrake myself by even the tiniest amount.

I'm really interested in this, however the timezone is a tricky one but I'll see what happens.

I wish there was a way to run it sooner, but even 8PM EST is pushing it for West coast folks here. Hope to see you there.

OK, question time: We were allowed ABS at Daytona, will we also be allowed to use it here?

So far ABS is a setting you can change, and not required. I have not tested without ABS. So im not sure how realistic the braking is without it.

I do know this. Real stock cars do not have ABS. :-) So look out!

So I did 15 laps of practice. I took ABS off. Setup my to it reacts better to wheel lockup and managed to hit well below the 1 min mark.

Boo...my current best lap is just under 1:01 (though I was down to 850 HP because it needed an oil change) 👎

My HP is 829, it jumped 4 hp since the 15 laps. I think in race trim, I will definitely NOT drive that fast. A good lap in race trim will be 1'01 to 1'02. 👍

ABS settings are now required. See Original Post Please.

This is awsome! I love this being a huge NASCAR fan. Really want in but time can be an issue as in UK, plus not getting my headset till Christmas, so as soon as have that (and with wheel), I'll be all geared up for 'serious' online NASCAR action.

Oh yeah, reckon I should buy my #18 as well to start practicing with it ;)

Can't wait to get involved!

EDIT : PSN Knelly, please add me

I can be there for the last couple of races before the event ends. If there is space, I'll race. If not, no biggie.

I thought I was onto something with a minute 4 @ 892 HP

Back to the drawing board

My Lap time of '59.5xx could be an anomaly. It was in practice mode. I might open my lounge tonight for some online testing.

Good Luck man.

I was in practice too Im using an exotic setup extremely different from the stock settings.

I estimated it would take under 60 seconds as I have alot of experimenting left to do. With two major changes I had gone from 1'01.5 to 1'00.4. Dont know if I was using the 211 gear. May or may not help me.

I'll join for a bit. I need the practice anyway, seeing as my fastest lap is currently a 1:00.85x

EDIT: Or not, since you went offline.

EDIT: Disregard that >_>

Cold tires affect me a bit for the first lap, and so do even SLIGHTLY worn tires. When I try to accelerate in the S section for more than about half a second, I just skid. Turning even the slightest bit while braking to below 100 mph will make me skid/spin out, and I also have a habit of running too high in the last corner and hitting the wall and spinning.

Last nights testing session went well.. We learned a lot about the cars. Two or more drivers can stay packed together if they each do not make mistakes. The draft is your friend if you are not as fast as others.

The cars do NOT stick well on cold tires. I would caution your self for a few corners until they get to optimum heat.

After 5 laps the tires start to wear; wheel spin and understeer-loose conditions can happen easily.

We learned that if you are nice to your tires, you can go the entire race with a set of tires with 50-60% wear factor. (15 lap races :))

Good luck.

One side note, with ABS set at 0, you need to find a happy balance in your car when braking, other wise you will end up crashed. Find comfort.
