Stock Car Association of North America - Tire Test II @ HSR

Yes, we will be able to earn money from now on! Which is great, and sort of a fun thing to keep track of during the season. TO see how makes the most money.

I think the update allows you get Earn Xp and money

I went online today, and everything was really slow and lagging badly (the first time GT5's online has been slow for me.) GT life menus took ages to load and it took 5 minutes to load up a friend's open lobby menu (the menu after you select the orange circle that's by their "My lounge".

When I eventually got online everyone else seemed to be lagging badly, but it was probably just because it was being slow for me.

Basically if I'm still having these problems tomorrow, I'll try and join anyway, but either as the pace car (if i get a headset tomorrow), or I'll just watch over the race like a steward.

I think the problems are either because of a high number of people online after the latest update, or the snow that we're currently experiencing here.

I would be watching but the stream dosen't work on iPod. Put a couple of good races on YouTube.👍

Yeah. I'm sure, with everyone downloading the update, it's probably going to be pretty slow tonight.

Alright! Well, here is the update.

  • New Cable Modem, Downspeeds 25 megabits/s - Upspeeds 3.0 Megabits/s
  • Live Streaming Video Again
  • Since we get prize now, we will run a MOCK racing after the holidays. 100 Laps or so. Although, might conflict with FND (Gtuuks Event).
  • GTAcademy will keep me very busy, but we will still run events.
  • We will have a event next Tuesday, most likely Cape Ring Inside
  • Qualifier will run near the end of January. Reason being, I want to test almost all the tracks & GTA Event (I really want to give this 110% effort)

Tentative Track List V2
  1. Daytona International Speed Way | 100-200 Laps
  2. High Speed Ring F | 100-200 Laps
  3. Indianapolis Motor Speedway | 100-200 Laps
  4. Cape Ring Inside | 100-200 Laps
  5. Daytona Road Course | 25-50 Laps
  6. High Speed Ring R | 100-150 Laps
  7. Indianaplis Motor Speedway GP | 25-50 Laps
  8. Indianaplis Motor Speedway | 100-150 Laps
  9. Nurburing GP (Tentative!)

Track list looks good :)

I should hopefully be getting a headset today, though it depends on the weather (snow!), and I've forgotten to do any more practice for this.
I've been too busy doing the seasonal events that were added, and the X2010 special event (Finally bronzed it, and got silver at monza. If I had a run consisting of my best laps on each track, I'd have gold in all of them, but you can't be consistantly awesome with the DS3). Took AGES because I don't have a wheel...

Looking forward to tonight's racing :sly:

One more thing: running online does now affect the wear of your car. I was racing at Daytona last night and after a few races had to leave briefly to do an oil change because my oil had gone bad, making me lose 42 HP and lap 0.3 slower per lap than when I'd started.

Xx__1c3man__xX, You might be able to get into the room. Just check in around 7:30pm. As the first post says, first come first serve. Please you are welcome to join us.

As a friendly reminder, please read up on our rules and the event settings for tonight.

Chad

Good news! I now have a headset :sly:

I was rereading the first page of posts, and Earth said: "I can drive the pace car for 1 race perhaps and others do one as well?" I could do a race or two as the pace car if you want. (Also, here's hoping that the game actually lets me see Earth's car this time >___>)

We have to talk!

I/we created this series so that we could have a realistic experience of Nascar with a bunch of similar minded folks who raced clean.

I understand it is a new track, and a lot of you are not good at it yet. But that is not really a good excuse for WHY we cannot stay clean and off each other. It was bad tonight, real bad. The first race we had, 26 laps. We didn't make it more than 2 turns before someone took someone else out from overdriving/out of control driving and others were not looking for people inside or outside...ect.

This is to everyone; you need to mind your race car, keep yourself clean, and be very aware of others around you.

I understand this was a test session, however when we start racing this season and it starts being like it was tonight, or in the past at Daytona, then I will close the series. Because that is NOT why I/we started this series.

I will not tolerate racing like tonights any more in our tests. If it happens to again in future session I will ask drivers to leave.

You HAVE to race clean. You HAVE to look around you. And you need to be patience and pass cleanly.

No one signs up for a race that ends up in 10 cautions for 18 laps.

No more of this "oops I didn't see you" stuff, you HAVE to look and watch out for fellow drivers.

Next test I want CLEAN driving.

My apologies to everyone for tonight! I will try to be better in controlling the race environment.

Please comment and give me feed back. Thanks

EDIT, I got a 40 min race that was only 26 laps. Filled with the stuff I am talking about. Most of this due to, others just NOT seeing each other...getting together, spinning and taking out others. I deleted it.

I hope you understand what I mean by all of that up there ^ I know there are a lot of you as frustrated as I am with the quality of the tests. Thats why we got to do better.

Yeah... It's not going to work if the races end up like that. I'm not saying this is the cause of all the chaos, but I do think the fact that some drivers lag so bad is just an accident waiting to happen... Especially when we're in such tight spaces. It's impossible to predict where they're going to be from one second (or less) to the next and they flat out cause wrecks.

I know it not their fault and of course they aren't doing it intentionally, but in one of the 5 lap races, I watched the replay and one racer went head first into the wall, bounced off into me, causing myself and a few other cars to wreck, then proceeded to finish the race as if their car was never touched... and almost won.

^^ I'm with TK. It's not going to work if everybody's gonna crash, but as the saying goes, "Rubbin' is racing". It wasn't our fault, but the track is a little narrow for a banked road course. Maybe we should be advised every forward direction race at HSR to slow down at turn 2, to avoid 50 or so cautions.

EDIT: Wow, my epic pit-stop fail was made even more humiliating in Chad's prospective.

Another problem is people driving too aggresively. For example we were going into turn 2, I accidentally braked a little bit late, but the person following me decided to attempt to outbrake me anyway, causing about 5 cars to crash and receive damage.

Also, If you are a backmarker (or running slowly- for example, leaving the pits), do not suddenly change your line as I approach. If I am staying to the outside of the corner as I approach you and you are on the inside, do not quickly move up to let me through on the inside as soon as you see me coming. I will not have enough time to react because I am going nearly 200 mph around the outside of the corner and will probably hit you if you suddenly move up.

Both of those happened to me in the same race, resulting in me finishing over 2 laps down in a 5 lap race (pace lap = 6th lap).

Sorry about my lag TK42OnE, everything and everyone was running smooth on my end, and I seem to be smooth in Chad's videos too.

I agree last night races were boring/frustrating for me except for maybe one...
I raced very clean (I think on first race I bumped Racecar trying to avoid joes lag)and seamed like I got caught in some ones mess or got takin out almost every race.
Thank you.

Also, note how me and Chad didn't brake/accelerate fully. THAT is what we need here, not full braking in, full acceleration out, or we get a wreck.

P.S. Up for my Roadster Race tonight?

If I can, I'll try and post the replay I took.

I'm pretty sure I'm the driver who got in the back of Joe and caused the accident. But, I'm certainly not blaming Joe... it's not as if he lagged on purposed.

But, in the replay, I am watching Joe bouncing of the barriers, going airborne at one point, so I have really no idea when or where he's braking. Then, he's almost through my windshield.

Which is my point.

Trying to predict where he might be from one second to the next, going at 200 mph, with cars behind me and to the side of me, is impossible.

I don't know if there is some sort of ping restriction that can be set for races, but that would help.

**edit** I have no idea how to get a replay off my Ps3.

Nope, it wasn't you. It was at turn 2 on the first lap of the second video that chad posted.

I stand by my last post. Connection issues are a bit different, but most of you do not have connect issues. [In the past we have asked drivers to stay back because of connection issues] My point is driving aggressively, when it is not needed. Over driving, and sliding into another driver. Not looking out for fellow racers and moving up a lane and getting spun.

There is a HUD option for the map. If you zoom into the map, you can see where everyone is at, and its very accurate. It helps a lot to use the map, and mirrors. I think it will mandate that as a required setting. Look out for that...

If we want this series to work, we CANNOT be in a caution every 1-2 laps. If it was like that, even I would quit. We have a lot of work to do before I want to start the season. I can tell you right now, its not looking like we will start in January. We need more practice as a team. We will see after a few more tests, where we are at.

Earth and I are thinking about a rule for cautions. It may not seem fair, but its probably the only sane thing we can do to keep the racing good. Coming up...

Sorry I didnt turn up, I was too tired to stay up and also I didnt really do no practice hardly prior to the tyre test. Me personally, I think this is one of the toughest things to do online, trying to execute a NASCAR event with rules. Nevertheless, I hope that your competition does go ahead, even if I'm not in I will definitely be following it.

You need a record it with a hand/web camara, or you need to capture it with a HD capture device.
