None.
What's up with the AI car selection in Arcade races. For example I take a
GT500 car like the Xanavi Nismo Z but the opponents take LM cars, classic Le mans cars. Why they dont take the same class cars? Hope PD fixes this soon!:)

You ain't kiddin man! Don't think they have ANY plans to fix it. Picked an LM and was greeted by a complete field full of Toyo 7's. That's not too bad if your racing on a track like Nurb. Where the many turns give you plenty time to catch up. The bad part is putting the fastest cars in front. My GT-R R35 starting in 12th always has to catch up to either the Mazda Furia or Audi R10 TDI. Both of which gain a significant lead by the time you pass through the pack. You have to do everything you can to make sure you're close to them before you hit the first straight on the ring otherwise it's over.

Whey I drive for example Xanavi Nismo Z '06 I put sports medium or soft tires when select car, then AI will drive GT500 cars or cars such are Lister storm, Ford mark IV ;) Then when games load go to settings and put back racing tires, :) That is way to have fair race ;) That you can do for all car in game

This AI selection takes into account your initial tire choice, but not if you change them one you are at the track. There was a great thread about arcade mode a while ago, can't find it though sadly.

Only certain SFT cars give you a full SGT race the Castrol Supra is one of them and I think One of the GT-Rs. You get the best AI selection when using cars from the Arcade List. This needs to be addressed though along with RM & DLC cars not showing up in the AI. Do a 1 make race with a RM and the AI are stock.

Agreed very annoying, went into an arcade race with a stock Civic Type R '09 and was up against Skyline GTR R34's and Supra RZ's :@

It doesn't appear to take upgrades into account, or else it's just completely insane about the pp class. Usually the AI uses cars much faster than mine. I just started a race with an RX-7 upped to 500 pp, on sports soft tires. Top bot was a 475 pp GT-R, on sports hards.

I actually was testing for the tires, loaded on softs then switched to hards, the AI was all on hards. Then I noticed how lame the AIs were as I streaked to first in only two laps of Indy Road, a track I'm no expert at. I was using DS3 too which is basically like asking me to play with 1 hand and 1 foot with someone standing between me and the TV. I then reloaded at Nürb GP, stayed on the softs... same field and all on hards.

This might explain why it's so impossible to win with a stock '97 Z28 on CS's. I thought the other cars were just too fast, maybe they were faster cars on better tires too?

You can make the competition slower by using ballast or limiter before loading, but can you make them faster?

PP could bite my bird, the only time i get a decent match-up is inn the Events or One Make races, otherwise, ridiculous car selection.

The other problem in arcade is the rolling starts meaning on some tracks (Nurburgring in particular) you start several seconds behind the fastest car. Sure it's fun trying to weave through the slow cars and see if you can catch the leader but that isn't real racing.

I limit my lmp cars to 750 HP and I get a nice mix of GT cars and lmp/group c.

But it did throw a 2J at me once. I was driving the Ford GT Spec 2 race car at stock power.

2J used to be the next step up from GT1 cars but it was awfully difficult to catch with a non souped-up GT1 car of your own. I wonder if this is any better now that the 2J has higher pp?

Race cars present an extra challenge for matchmaking due there often being wide gaps between classes. Of course if the AI could drive a bit better or we could give them just a little higher performance it would help a lot.

I guess racing just isn't something GT5 can simulate well, particularly offline.

It's a real shame because actually racing against the AI in Arcade is 10,000 times more enjoyable than trying to get them not to stop for you in A-Spec.
